I fell into a situation were I knew it but didn't exactly what the names or the principles were called, although it did give me a good reminder and thought me how essential they are to remember during your design process. thank you for this.
The same here as well, I think subconsciously disciplined designers intuitively know the principles, it’s just training the brain to term them to societies standards.
yup I overthought every question
True true ☺️
I GOT a 5/33. I've started learning about 5 months now but don't really know any terms in graphic design. Thank you for this video. This is a big slap for me to understand more about the actual terms of designs, which will make a far better designer.
you got this!!
Same bro
25 points, I wish you could turn this into an app where one can practice their general knowledge of design principles.
Great video mate!
That's a great idea but I don't think there's enough of this terminology for it to be made in to an app. A blog/article or something like that would be better.
What is that app 0:19
@@aliabdal8686 That's Framer
I hope he'll do more of these, i honesty learnt alot and feel like i grew slightly today watching and following along
I have built my knowledge through the University of UA-cam slowly over the last few years and honestly got 18-20 correct. More work needed.
Ehy, you got this.
I loved this video. I felt i knew most but dont understand all completly so had me write down the terms i should study and practice more! Thank you for this video
Such an excellent video ! As a beginner, this was a great screening (pun entended) to figure out the ares where i'm lacking knowledge.
It also put into the test my learning approach : the principles that i took the time to learn about and practice were detected right before the end of the question, and those that i brushed over and just had a theorical approach to were impossible to spot even if i came accross each and every one of them.
Practice, Folks !
Thank you so much for this awesome content ❤
and thanks for the insightful feedback
Thanks Satori. This was so fun & informative
Solid 30/33. Tests like these help us stay on track and remind us to remain grounded in essential principles that most of us apply almost every single day
I would love more content like these.. all that I know in graphic design comes from watching you, so getting to test my knowledge was awesome 👌...
My total was 28. I stumbled most when we got to the composition part. There were multiple design principles being used in those, so it threw me for a loop. There were a couple that I absolutely did not know and that was macro and micro white space. SO I learned something new today. Thanks Satori!
Honestly, Im stuying graphic design in my college but they taught us nothing of this stuff, im so grateful for your content
Saddly I've heard a lot or graphic designers at my nearby college say this. It's one of the reasons I didn't want to pursue graphic design. I'm mostly studying it now as a business owner wanting to get a firm grasp on how I want to explain what I want from my graphic designer. I'll leave some room for creative thinking though. The customer isn't always right. At first I was wanting a specific design but after they told me it would look well scaled down I need to make room for change somewhere. 🥰
Thanks Tom - this is incredibly helpful as it contains knowledge in which we should carry throughout our Graphic Design careers. It is so easy for this knowledge to get lost or taken for granted throughout our journeys.
Great to hear Damien, thanks
I am embarrassed with how much I've forgotten about graphic design terms and principles... I've been away of this world for quite some time, but now I'm trying to encourage myself to restart and give myself a real chance, delve deeper and work on graphic design for a living if I can..
It won't be easy, but with channels such as yours, I believe many people in my position can get the baseline education and inspiration with the content you make!
Thank you for doing this! You may be changing someone's life with your channel and content!
All the best for you! 🤗
I love your videos very interactive and engaging.
I've just started designing using illustrator after retiring because of ill health. This morning I watched some of your videos. It will be interesting to take this test again in a few weeks as I watch them all. Today, my score was a massive one point. Thank you for the videos they are so well made and very interesting.
thankyou for this excellent content of yours, i'm new in graphic design journey and this video makes a pointers for me to work for
Really really appreciate your hard work for us ❣️ and thanks for so much knowledge (:
I think I got 6 or 7. I'm not a graphic designer, I don't study design nor do I have experience in the field. I knew some of these JUST from watching your videos (they're SO good!) and I implement some of this learning in my PowerPoint designs when making content. I really like 'Hierarchy', 'Flow', and 'Repetition' and discovered that I unknowingly use these concepts in my designs. And can we all take a minute to appreciate the hours of work you put into this video JUST so we could take a quiz! Mate....you're gold :)
Awesome as always. Thank you for all the hardwork you put in this video for us viewers. It was incredibly insightful 👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
I scored 29, great test. My academy instructors would be pissed but I’m happy with it. I love your channel bro! I just binged many of your videos! Keep up the good work!
This was a really cool idea. I appreciated it!
You are a true gift, my friend. Thank you! 🤟🏾💜
Thanks and be sure to drop a thumbs up 👍
I got 19 which I was pretty impressed with myself. I have only just begun my graphic design journey and your videos are always very helpful!
This video is really useful.
Thank you.
Thanks you for the class. Helps a lot :)
You're very welcome!
@@SatoriGraphics Hi Satori, new fan from Taiwan. I'm a graphic design beginner and my dream is to be a graphic designer even I'm 38 years old. Watching your video and review your eGuide is my daily process to improve. Just want to say thank you.
I am an architect by profession and currently brushing up myGraphic Design skills, it always amuses me how the basic principles of design are similar throughout different genres. Thank you for this quick revision as I did begin by covering these topics when I started on Graphic Design and it was fun to test my memory ☺️
Really enjoyed this video ❤️
Glad you enjoyed!
Missed a few mostly on terminological grounds.. like i answered center balance for symmetrical balance, consistency for repetition, leading line for flow, grouping for proximity. Did learn the difference between white and negative space. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!
Loved it...want more like this.
Thanks this was very informative.
This good information 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Your channel isn't just informative, and designed super tight. It's so damn entertaining. Im sure non designers watch it. Thanks.
really appreciate that Mike, thanks for dropping the comment
I've got 18/33.
One of the best videos, thank you.
I've made 27 points. This questions made me remember some concepts that I forgot. Thanks , Tom 👊🏽👊🏽
Good going bro
10/10 fantastic video!!!
Glad you liked it!
Awesome!.. I have learned a lot🙌🙌
22/33 in my case. Thanks for the video, helped me organize some knowledge!
Thanks for the video, still new in the world of graphic design. I didn't get most tho but I love this.🤙✌
Glad you like it, and it's fine because everyone is somewhere on a learning journey
Not a graphic designer, just interested in creating in general, and got 15 (partly because I've already watched a few of your videos this weekend). Lots to learn, thanks!
Wow it’s a really good video! You could also do one per “category". For exemple, one for typography, colors, logos, etc. 😁
Lotsa love to you. A light in the darkness! Thank you for what you do. Hooked!
thanks for the really nice comment :~)
I received a 13 for the test. I kept on repeating what I though was white space till I got it. It was rewly fascinating to learn design principles that I had no clue what they where called but had used or seen in the past. Thank you for helping me brush up and humbling me to continue learning more about Graphic design.
I want to learn the video editing you do its amazing!!
That leading part got me, and I can't get over it.
lol it's just one question :)
Excellent video! Prepping for an interview after a couple of years out and feel much more prepared 😊
I wish you all the best for the interview Harriet 💪
This video is so well designed. My God.
Thanks for this awesome content ♥️♥️♥️ love it sir
My pleasure
I did ok. Not perfect. This was a great tool for evaluating my understanding of these design terms & principles. Now I know what to work on. Thanks
25/33 over here, but not feeling too bad about it because most of the ones I missed definitely weren't taught at my university. Thank you for compiling this interesting test to fill the gaps in our knowledge! :)
In the first section, those are typefaces, not fonts. More accurately, those are type classifications. A font is the software we install, or, in the old days, a specific size and weight in a type family.
Don’t be afraid, just embrace it.
Awesome Video mate. Some of those I didn't get :-/ That video must have taken you ages you make. Very well done ;-)
Thanks man 👍
at least I know I have lots to work on. Thanks mate
I missed 5 of them, and have been doing design for 20+ years. Always things to brush up on!
The spacing terms i didnt know about very much. Didnt even know there was another name for the white spaces. Suprisingly tho I knew alot about fonts. Hopefully one day I can look back at this and get a better score!
7. I've heard most of the stuff, but got stuff mixed up. Your stuff is great, I'm learning a ton, and not just on surface level.
I didn't bother about the score. I just wanted to hear something new and confirm something I already know. Your channel is gold. Do you have any tutorial about your motion design?
Thanks very much for this
Such an excellent video ! As a beginner, this was a great screening (pun entended) to figure out the ares where i'm lacking knowledge.
Glad it was helpful!
I made approx 15-16. Some of them were right in the head, but wasn't remembering right there. Thanks to make me realise I need to pay attention on some of the principals. It's been few months only into design, but I need to Sharpen alot.
I learned all these principles watching your Channel for the last 2 years
You are ahead of a large percentage of 'designers' then 👍
Omg I love this part, this make me want to learn more and more about graphic design 😅
Great to hear Lauren :D
22? dang! that's better than i thought I'd get
halfway into my first year of product design at University, got hardly any right lol, a lot of them i knew instantly after it was said and kicked myself because of it but hey ho ill learn soon enough, thanks man great video ill be back to test my skills sometime soon.
Thanks Boss. I got 50%. I need to go take some courses on Typography & Colours. Thanks a lot
Why your videos are so good? 😅😃😃
I remember the first time I took it I got a really low score I'm happy to say I got an 22 and 1/2 , the reason I gave myself a half point is because one of them I knew the idea behind the design principle but I forgot the name. I'm so happy to see how much I've progressed even though I still have some more progressing to do. And I found myself getting really frustrated because I remembered some of these things but couldn't remember the names. But that just means more studying is necessary.
Actually, I am a graphic designer, not a pro one but I scored 10 points and I learned a lot and found your channel informative according to many aspects eg: The designs you make are rely nice one.
Great to hear!
I scored 27 points. A really educative and engaging video by the way
Do not watch once and think you know it all especially if you did not get all correct. Watch till you know and can identify it any where you come across a design work... Thanks SATORI!!!
Wish I had your channel two decades ago!
lol, if UA-cam existed back then, and back then I would have been 15 :/
your amazing
I’ve been practicing all of these but I didn’t know how they’re called until now lol
The video we all subconsciously needed
👍👍
ah got 8 .... Got to go apply ASAP
10 points (I am not a professional).
Thanks for the video!
Typeface is a design and following that same design different weights and slants are formed known as fonts. When these all fonts are combined they become a font family.
These is also a super font family phrase when you combined different types styles like monospace, serif, sans, slab, scripts of a particular typeface. Like "PT Sans" + "PT Serif" = PT or "Roboto Sans" + "Roboto Monospace" = Roboto.
I got 26 but I am a software developer that started as a web designer, glad that having a solid foundation helps me and still pay after all these many years. 😄
good going Luca!
I scored about 19 or 20 but I knew pretty much every thing described but just could not get to the actual term for it hahaha. Guess I need to restudy the basics for a bit. That's never a bad thing anyway.
got 3, tho i never studied any of such principles. i thought it would would with pure guts and to what think that looks pleasing, turns out i was entirely wrong and i need to actually start learning
Did not get the full mark. But I learnt a lot. Thanks!
I failed mostly on font names. A big reminder for me to analyze some main fonts out there 😅😂
We all gotta learn some things and improve here and there
not a graphic designer but i think i scored at least a 20, just because i’ve been following along with your videos as well as other designers’ on youtube. good to know i’m retaining information and can still learn more! always keep learning
that's awesome Kat, and interesting that you're not a designer but follow design channels on YT :P
@@SatoriGraphics lol i'm not a professional myself but i do love visual design, art, illustration, film, all that jazz so i follow lots of creatives! :D
so crazy you took the time to reply, i really appreciate it! i love your videos :')
thank you
Literally I just started watching Ur videos recently, tbh I learnt here the most than my art college.. I'm feeling like I made a big mistake by paying huge some of money to the university..
Hey thanks for the kind words.
The one thing UA-cam videos cannot offer you is a piece of paper that shows you have a degree 👍
25 / 33
good for a totaly new one in the world of graphic design
i probably got around 50%. but then, i'm not a GD, just a s/ware dev who occasionally does WP www sites. still, it's handy to know these terms when conversing with GDs and other artists.
For some of them I only found the names I gave them but not their true names....
"micro space" ended up being "the space in between" x)...
BUT, for those, I couldn't find their real names so I have to work on that.
Thank you for the video, I'll watch it again and again.
Genuinely surprised myself with a whopping 24/33. I’ll take that win.
That is certainly a win lol, nice one
Man love your work and all you do. Just wanted to say I have to respectfully disagree on the symmetrical example you have with the hand in the middle. It’s still assymetrical as a symmetrical design has both halves the same. For example the famous painting by Georgia O’keeffe titles “ oriental poppies”.
Anyway love your designs, videos, info and OMG your work ethic and passion for design and this channel.
I got 19. I know it seems very disappointing but for a student who enters high school the following year (Yep, that's me) and in a kind of poor country I think is more than acceptable. I'm not going to study Design as my career, but I highly respect graphic designers (My mother was one in the 90's) and maybe I take some courses to apply design to my personal projects. Thank you for contributing to our knowledge, Satori.
19 is pretty good!
That monke moment when I started off Round 3 thinking they are asking about color palette. Anyway gonna come back with my score in a bit.
Sadly only got 9. I definitely lost it at all the typography questions lmao
How do you have time to create these bomb videos as well as tending to personal client orders?!
Hiring editors 👍
I'm not a graphic designer by education, but I've worked in graphic design by necessity. I got a 20. Thank you for the video! Very educational.
I got 27. So Design School is doing a good Job. All the Hours of hours from theory lessons were good. 😄 Thanks for the Test! Im now more confident and know what i have to learn.
Beginning my graphic design journey 6/33 😔 …it’s okay, it’s only the beginning!
I think i ended up with 18-20 of them and is quite happy with that result. Means there is room for improvement still LoL
great comment thanks
This is the best way to learn the Graphic Design, I have scored 9 & Thank you so much for the video
You are welcome, and all the best 👍
I got 23/33 . I know I need go back and refresh because am still make sure I understand it again. Thanks for making this video. I had graduation May 2021. I'll definitely will watching this video again
all the best to you :)
@@SatoriGraphics thank you 😊
This video was very informative but as I am saying this if you are learning graphic design from a good university than these all information is nothing but the foundation year basics to begin as a graphic designer.
Anyway appreciate your time and efforts in making the video.
