In this video shown 2013 Hyundai Velosters High Pressure fuel pump ticking noise.Some say its valve lifter , timing Chain or Crankshaft bearings in my case its fuel pump. its not affected car performance just high annoying noise maybe it going bad.
If u wanna check as I checked. Remove engine plastic cover and unplug fuel pump from upper right side of engine. U will get check engine light after doing it make sure clear dtc codes after that.
It’s a speaker that plays jack hammer noises
It's the cam roller for the high pressure fuel pump, new ones are one piece but the old ones were a 3 piece design. Hope this helps!

It’s the bearing inside that little metal thing!
The design is similar to a Diesel...the high-pressure gives it more accurate fuel metering.
Does that mean the pump needs replacement ?
Sounds like high pressure fuel injectors to me on a GDI engine
By any chance have you seen any videos on doing a compression check on 1.6 Tucson ? Num 2 dead misfires.
@@miket2055 yeah I've blown up quite a few 1.6 T motors but that's because I was young and stupid, modifying it beyond stock internal limits, always pushing it etc...
If you have a cylinder 2 misfire it's more than likely spark plugs or coil packs
Replaced all coil packs and plugs. Next move is compression check. I was hoping someone much smarter than me would know the problem. Thank you for the response. I appreciate it 👍🏼
@@miket2055 when I had a moving misfire after 120k miles it wasn't plugs or coil packs, it was a stuck fuel injector - however that was just a safety mechanism because the cylinder was 100% dead... Zero compression in cylinder 4. Hole in the block. Best of luck.
Thank you. 1,3,4 plugs are lean. 2 doesn’t appear to be firing. It’s black carbon and doesn’t smell like fuel at all.

they released one in sept, my hyundai dealership fixed it for free. the engine rod knock is gone!

The high pressure fuel pump should not be that loud. yes they make noise as to why they put a foam insulator on top of it to keep it quiet but that sounds like its going bad😬😬

THAT IS ONLY THE GDI AS IT HAS A HIGH PRESSURE FULE PUMP THAT TAPS LIKE CRAZY. THE NORMAL DOHC EMGINE HAS TICKING TOO BUT IT IS ACTUALLY THE LIFTERS.
Would this be loud enough to cause the knock to throw a p1326 code?
You resolved absolutely nothing. Didn't offer a single explanation to anyone about what you did. Moreover, the noise was just as awful after you put whatever it was back in after you took it out. This is easily the worst video ever posted to UA-cam
My 1.6L has that same noise engine has always been working fine these past 2 years though
GDI seems to be noisy, i tey to tske good care of my 2018 elantra sport. The ticks arnt too loud on mine, but audible enough
What did you do? Cuz my GDI sonata 2015 has a ticking noise or a rattle which I can hear but drives fine?
Bearing under the fuel pump he is showing is the reason for the loud ticking also! Just replaced on my 2.4 GDI and works like a charm
Hey man, could you please explain to a complete beginner how i would go about changing that. I found a really nice deal on a Tib‘ but its ticking like this. I drove 4 hours there saturday and would drive 40 aswell because i like it so much but its ticking just like this and im afraid that it could be something more expensive. Car only got 130000 km and was taken care of well. If i somehow can get the ticking away just by channging an easy fix together with the seller i would buy it immediately. I thought it was the oil filter as it its written in the Tib forum but now i found this vid and your comment im so confused

Nope it's the knock sensor
I also have the same rattle noise from hyndai venue petrol turbo. The HPFP got replced by the service centre but the issue has not gone.
Now, the technicians says it is normal. but the sound was not there when I puchased the car. I developed after 1 and a half years.
Is it normal? or how to resolve if it is an issue?

It's normal for these GDI engines unfortunately, best thing to do is get yourself a cover for it to minimize the noise.
Did the sound get louder as the rpm’s increased? Have a 1.6 that makes this noise not to loud but gets louder as the rpm increases

Do you hear screeching while accelerating? I have same sound in my 1.9jtd but for now it sound like this only when accelerating above 2rpm
I have mechanical high pressure diesel pump and it makes ticking sound 2000-3000 RPM. New one is 700€ :( It is odd that it stops high RPM...
@@electricman2011 ah shoot, yeah, diesel high pressure pump is expensive, there are lots of videos how to regenerate them if u like to have a fun
All direct injection engines have that noise, this is not a defect.

Nah thats completely normal, mine squeals like crickets at the tempo of the current ticking and it is excessively loud. Inside and outside the car. Like it wakes up the neighbors every morning type loud on cold starts. But soon as it warms up and builds pressure its gone
I’d look into replacing the bearing underneath that fuel pump he is showing, really simple to do just completed on my engine. No check engine lights were showing car ran fine but bearing was going out causing it to rattle and tick like this.

I know im a year late but i did replace that bearing.....also replaced the fuel pump.....ended up being neither. Till this day, every cold start sounds the same

Identical sound to mind which turned out to be a catastrophic connecting rod issue that seems to be well-known for the 1.6 L GDI. Do you know of any more videos, websites, recalls or documentation?
I might be in the same boat as you. I have 182K on my engine. Did your engine knock get quieter above 1000 rpm or louder? The engine runs great, besides the knocking sound. No noise under load, accelerates great, no stalling, etc
@@LaidbackgamerzzOneexactly what mine is doing tapping but somehow no noise or vibration above 1500-2000 rpm. Did you ever figure yours out?
@jessekramer5757 No, I haven't. I've been running a quart over the full line to keep it relatively quiet. Besides the noise, it still runs strong. 💪🏾
@@LaidbackgamerzzOne damn, exactly what I do lol. I’ve been running it like 3 months now hasn’t blown up. Would be sick if it’s just this high pressure pump, I also heard there is a bearing and something else under this pump that is the noise. Might cause the valves to clack at low idle too.
@jessekramer5757 if there was any difference in performance or the knocking noise got louder as the engine warmed, I would be more concerned. I wouldn't have any concern driving it out of town.

Where do you find the fuel injectors on this car, I’ve looked for videos but I can’t find one, what do you have to take off to reach them, I take the plastic cover off and I see the coils but no injectors, other versions of the engine they are visible but this version I can’t find them

IT GOES AWAY WHEN I ADD LUCAS PRODUCTS TO THE FUEL BUT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED TO SAVE THE ENGINE FROM CREATING TOO MUCH SOOT

It's a mechanical fuel pump and the foam noise cover has been removed.
