Hi, Ash--New follower. Just some advice: when you are planting a new plant in the garden, be sure to break up the root ball a bit. Plants can get a bit pot bound while at the nursery and breaking the ball encourages root growth. Also, put some fertilizer in the hole you dig for the plant, so the roots have easy access , then fill in the hole and finish with a good watering. That's how my grandmother taught me! I'm really enjoying your work and the channel!
Hi, at 19:08 where in East London is that park area? I used to live in Custom House E.16 as a kid but now I live in Australia. Would love to know, haven’t been back there in years. Thanks @AshMazzina
Yes, yes, yes on the wallpaper with the leaves! It would be stunning with the wall color. Of course, I am trying to catch up on your videos, so you may have already put wallpaper up. Your garden is so lovely, and I hope your new plants are doing well. I live in the Arizona desert, and I have been shocked how well roses grow here. I suppose it’s all the sun. But I do miss my peonies since we moved here after retirement. It just doesn’t get nearly cold enough for them. I really enjoy watching your videos, and hope that you will continue to share shopping, gardening, food and decor!
I’m really enjoying your content, thanks! Here’s a tip - when you plant something, the level of the planted bush has to be at soil level, including mulch or compost. The new rose will not survive with any soil or compost higher up the trunk like that, push the compost away from the trunk.
Paint the walls flat black first…then the red paint will be beautiful and it will take less coats…keep up the great job…where are all,of your friends when you start painting?????
I choked on my coffee when you talked of changing those drawer fronts, personally I think it’s the wrong piece for the bathroom, damp will ruin it. Love the house though, and I still get it wrong occasionally on colour even at the tender age if 63. Good luck with your new home.
I'm glad you didn't change those drawer pulls; they were the perfect scale to the drawer fronts. Thanks for showing that you had a plant die. I always feel like a failure when it happens to me. I'm jealous of your soil. I have nothing but rocks and clay. It's a major process to dig even the smallest hole. Your house and garden look great. You do a great job with your videos (i.e. not "over produced").
new follower and loving your vids. Going to Bath this weekend, as inspired by you. Also you inspired me to start gardening myself rather than getting a gardener. You have made your garden so incredible- its given me some confidence!
Love your style and tastes and really enjoying your videos. A good point to remember when planning a garden is the one thing you can’t make up for is the amount of direct sun each area gets. Always best to start from there, the number of hours of direct sunlight throughout your planting areas, then choose plants solely based on that. Everything else like soil type, drainage and so forth can then be controlled by you to suit each plant.
So excited to see your channel pop up on my UA-cam feed today! I just watched the entire renovation video from a few weeks ago and LOVED the bathroom floors. So, I was hoping when I got to this bathroom reno, you would talk about the type and color of the tiles. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks from New Orleans!
Huge Farrow and Ball fan here, too. I'm in the US and I can't find anything comparable in quality. I've had Bancha on my bedroom walls for five years and it looks like I just painted it yesterday. Love your home and your aesthetic.
I always, always paint ceilings out ( and usually all the woodwork as well actually) in the same colour as the wall. I’ve come to loathe the white ceiling convention- which I believe is a relatively recent thing anyway
Love your videos Ash. Thanks for sharing your paint colours and what brand you use. Had to laugh when you said to your partner, imagine that you are the brains behind the operation! You make a great team and obviously both have great style. Wanstead flats is a great place to walk! 👍
Your garden is amazing from Annabel in the NW Highlands of Scotland. I also have a hydrangea Annabelle which my sister gifted me and it is doing great.
Hi Ash new subscriber here. Just moved into a Victorian terraced house like yours and looking for inspirations from UA-cam renovators. I really enjoy your contents and best of luck moving forward with your home. Cheers mate
Can I suggest you also go to France for brocantes. Also watch Stephanie Jarvis on chateau diaries they have a need for antique furniture etc. for decorating and renovating her chateaux. You upload great interesting content btw
When planting pots it's a good idea to follow the rule "thrillers, fillers and spillers". You include the "thrillers"/taller plants or small shrubs at the back (perhaps a fern or two), "fillers"/smaller plants (perhaps some flowers or small grasses if you want all green) in front and then "spillers" around the edge to fall over the sides (ivy would be good).
Hello Ash, HUGE fan of your channel. Obsessed with your room colour, precise shade I've been hunting... Did I miss you stating which it was? Super impressed with your design work.
Thanks for sharing your amazing house renovation vids, they are lovely!! Did I miss out,..whats your favourite restaurant in London? if you dont mind hahaa
New subscriber here and I just binged your videos. You have the perfect voice and cadence for UA-cam. Of course as a Yank I can listen to a British accent forever. And we need a Dougal camo every video please. Good luck with way the channel!
Just to let you know, that when you’re replacing a rose bush, you should never put another rose in its place. Monty Don mentioned that on GW and I’d heard that info previously. Your house is lovely. Ps you could move to Scotland and buy a nice rural renovation. Bugger the weather.
I think you should install a white-painted crown molding in your rooms to make them look more finished. I think the wallpaper would look nice. Why not paint with a roller rather than a brush? It would go much more quickly.
Annabelle Strong Incrediball Hygrangeas have strong stems so grow more upright and they don’t flop over as much as the previous Annabelle variety. Annabelle Strong have thicker stems and larger flowers. They are the same in hardiness as the previous version of Annabelle which has smaller blooms and thinner stems.
I also have F&B paints in my house! That's where the similarities end though. Mine are mostly greens and light browns nothing dramatic. I now want to change everything 🤣 I think F&B mention using their dark tones primer coat when using darker colours. New follower... Just caught up and looking forward to any new developments. Well I'm off to watch Nick Lewis, who I love and find hilarious.
Hi Ash, the paint colour in your bathroom looks like a deep plum to me rather than red. A dark tinted primer might have helped with coverage prior to the first coat. I love the dark and gold wallpaper you suggested, it would look very lush.
Do y’all have a goodwill or habitat for humanity store…you can find the best stuff so cheaply…I know y’all have spent a fortune….keep,up the great work. I JUST LOVE IT ALL. hugs carolyn from Columbus Georgia
I was just thinking that if you carry that paint from the bathroom down to the hallway/stairwell maybe? That is such a beautiful color and with the off-white? Yes please. And the wallpaper, surprisingly I like that idea a lot. It fits so well!! I can see your vision and it is beautiful. Great job!!
Hi Ash! Great taste. Love your “moody” aesthetic. Always feels romantic and intelligent to me. A little Ralph Lauren too. I almost cried when I saw your kitchen. Love a red kitchen. Perfection. Cheers from Coastal Virginia USA
I can relate to your love of red. Your bathroom and kitchen are lush. My husband is aghast though 😂. We’ve compromised and are going for dark red and cream tiles, checkerboard style. It’s still too much for my husband but I said we’re not going to elephant breath our new house (if you know, you know) 😂
Hey, thanks for sharing all your progress! Would you happen to have the contact details for the team that removed your pebbledash? We are looking at getting the same done!
Try breaking up the root ball when you plant from a pot into the ground. That’s possibly why your hydrangea and rose bush died. Follow instructions on the label
Only just found your excellent channel so I realise I'm probably too late here, but, purely for practical reasons, I would strongly suggest to not wallpaper the loo. Accidents in that room can and do happen. Yes, I know we're talking about walls. I'm speaking sadly from experience looking after an elderly parent. Much easier to deal with a painted surface. I do love what you have done with your house. You have an excellent decorator's eye, no question. Good luck with everything.
Hey, good content but please, make sure the talking and music levels are the same volume levels, I had to turn up the volume for the talking as you are so quiet, and then you cut to music and it is so loud!
Farrow & Ball will come to your home for a consultation on which colours to choose for each room. I’ve had a Victorian Cottage built in 1892 in Worcestershire, and now live in a Georgian house, built in 1811. ( in Italy) My Builder is fab, and because I have the usual wobbly walls, he painted a white line the same colour as the ceiling about 4 cm depth at the top of the wall. Therefore, you can’t see where it wobbles. You’ve really transformed the gardens. Well done!
I don’t like the wallpaper. It looks heavy with the dark paint. I would perhaps bring some green in or go more exotic. Exotic prints also bring in some whimsy. But something that brings in three or more colors. Otherwise, it looks a bit like a hole. Pull out your big fan block of colors and look for shades that bring it up, that lift it. I hate to say it, but I think your bathroom would be better with wallpaper.
I'm a new follower; as you talk for so much at the beginning it appears you're stepping back and forth and it's making me dizzy. Please get a stand for your camera! And way too much talking in one space for me. I'll finish the video and decide if I can handle so much info.

Thank you for the tips! If I’m being honest I always forget to break up the root ball 😂 glad you’re enjoying! ☺️
It’s instyle now for the walls and ceiling are the same color!!
Sometimes it is easier if you paint the walls flat black before you paint the red….just from my experience…hugs carolyn from Columbus GA

Those strong moody colors work so well in the bath. I like the wall paper with the gold leaves. Will be fun to see what you went with.
A resounding “YES” to the wallpaper for the loo. A perfect compliment to the paint colour. It’ll look stunning 🤩
Thank you, need to order it now 😂🫶🏻

A wider roller will make your job easier and provide more even coverage as well.
Always tint primer to paint color and prime your walls…makes it easier and less coats

I love that. Have an amazing time, Such a beautiful city! Gardening is such a great hobby, I’m sure you’ll love it ☺️
Yes the second wallpaper compliments the new paint color. The house feels nice and cozy from the videos.
Completely agree! Thank you 🥰

Yay! Thank you! I’m most likely going to make a video on each room, I’ll definitely talk more about bathroom tiles!
Huge Farrow and Ball fan here, too. I'm in the US and I can't find anything comparable in quality. I've had Bancha on my bedroom walls for five years and it looks like I just painted it yesterday. Love your home and your aesthetic.
I’ve never found a paint like F&B either. As you said it lasts forever, I think that justifies the higher cost! Thank you so much ☺️
I always, always paint ceilings out ( and usually all the woodwork as well actually) in the same colour as the wall. I’ve come to loathe the white ceiling convention- which I believe is a relatively recent thing anyway
Love the white fence panels.Light reflecting on grey days and highlights your planting.

Thank you so much! I will admit he is very good, he must just have a great teacher 😉 the flats and Epping forest are lovely!
Definitely think coving the bedroom would finish it off perfectly 👌

I love the wallpaper. Go for it 👍🏻

Absolutely the second wallpaper you held up over the first. Loving your vibe and your videos 😊
Yes it’s definitely the better of the two, I’ve ordered a few more which I’ll share soon as I’m still not 100% ☺️
glad you didn’t change the handles!
Ash dont change ❤ your videos 😊 Go for second paper it will complement your bathroom ❤
Burgundy red is a rich warm gorgeous color. What a lovely idea for a bathroom !
I think so too!
I think you should install a white-painted crown molding in your rooms to make them look more finished. I think the wallpaper would look nice. Why not paint with a roller rather than a brush? It would go much more quickly.
Wow a lot of painting by yourself. Well done!

Love love love the second wallpaper. I m not a huge fan of wallpaper, however the burgundy and gold is brilliant . ❤

Can you spray paint the old handles until you find new handles…..you need a pretty mirror behind the sink too…hugs carolyn
That hydrangea looks like 'Annabelle' - you can layer them and produce dozens!
I need to try this! everyone keeps telling me its quite easy
Lovely garden. Thank you for the video
Thanks for watching!
Unrelated, but where do you shop for clothing? Your aesthetic is excellent. Thank you for your channel!
Thank goodness you didn't change the handles! Looks amazing...
Right?! Definitely the best choice ☺️
Maybe a paint roller would give you a quicker job and more even finish.

Hi. Sorry, I must have missed the paint color. I think you said Farrow and Ball. But, what is the color, please? Love. Love. LOVE your style :)
The bathroom is F&B brinjal

I do love the colour but I think there’s enough red in the house now haha! It does pair wonderfully with the off white colour though! Thank you 🥰
Love it! ❤

Thank you so much, Very kind of you! 👋🏼🇬🇧
I thought with F&B you had to use a primer match to your paint as a base, I colour match to Johnson’s paint, hope that helps
Maybe when talking to camera be seated and use a tripod, you wandered a fair bet, but hay way better than i could do

Brinjal means EGGPLANT so purple is the look I would expect.
😊😊I like your introduction

That is a very deep sink & takes away storage. But, it is beautiful❤ And, The house is gorgeous 😊
It is very deep, there’s surprisingly room in each drawer to use though. Thank you so much ☺️

Hi Ash, where did you buy your red armchair from?!
So this is a two bedroom, one bath attached home, what is your square footage?
Why not use a large roller for smooth, finish and quicker results?
I prefer a smaller roller 😂
HI THE EDGING STONES ARE NO VERY STRAIGHT IN THE FRONT GARDEN.
Hi Ash, love your videos. Could you please share where did you get your front door from and what’s the colour of the door please
Of course, colour of the door is Farrow and Ball Railings from Beechhall Joinery, they’re the best! www.beechhalljoinery.co.uk
Do you design for other people ?
I just love it all..but I keep thinking, god, have they won the lottery or something?! X
