I've heard before that the best course of training would be to seek out the strongest student in the room for chi sao...with the intention of being beaten. The point being, if you seek to improve, you must find holes in your technique by challenging stronger opponents..and expect to lose repeatedly if you are to grow.

+Myc O. File Well let me say this, in my humble opinion you need a good guide ( teacher ) people who's level is not as advanced as yours, students who are your level ( or at least close ) and students who are at a higher skill level. Does that make sense ? :-)

The point of Chi Sao is not to "win". It is to aid BOTH parties in sensitivity so they learn to read energy and redirect, pressure forward. Chi Sao is NOT sparring. If one approaches it with an ego-centered mentality neither participant will benefit. One can learn from anyone as people move differently. I think you need all kinds.
But it's important to realize Chi Sao is not meant as a "fighting" exercise.

Aidan Wong, there's Gum, Jum and Jut. 3 different applications. A Gum is when you push down with the hang and elbow. What they show is 100% Gum Sao.
A Jut is pulling in and often at a diagonal angle into you. Often pulling at a lower angle. This video was not a Jut it was a Gum.
The move application you mentioned Jum is very different. It's a push down while dropping your weight into a downward way.
This video didn't do a Jum whatsoever. Most videos on UA-cam don't even show Jum and and many do it wrong. Wing Chun is about application and energy of the move, the verb.
