As a followup, I went back to Swift and test paddled the cruiser 15 8 canoe and packboat again, both using my ottertail paddle. I found the canoe seat a little high and the packboat had a more solid feel. I am a heavier paddler. Miranda and Carmen were amazing to work with. I will be ordering a 15 8 pack boat in expedition carbon and my wife a 14 8 packboat in kevlar fusion
That's a really beautiful canoe, very skillfully constructed, and to recieve such high praise from an aviation composites manufacturer, you've created something quite wonderful. Very likeable people and an utterly adorable pup!
A friend has the pack 16.7 that i had the opportunity to paddle last weekend. The most efficient boat i have ever used! Doesn't turn that quick, but paddles beautifully. What a boat!
Adding a set of paddle clips inside so they can hold a spare as well as simplify portages might be worth considering. I have Swift kayaks, they are superb both in craftsmanship and on the water.

My solo boat is a bit larger, but my preferred trip is a week or three on a river out west where you carry your water for the full time you are out. Pumps are nearly useless on the Green or Colorado because of silt, ground fine stone dust. Many similarities as you described this new boat. The standard stern seat I asked to be moved forward and down. You moved yours up,,, I'll bet there is not 2 inches difference in where we ended. Foot tube as well for all the same reasons. The first attempt was a basalt Inegra hybrid cloth (crushed by a forklift with the shipping company) The second S cloth wrapped around kevlar. Mine is considerably heavier,, a yoke I bare. On some level I disagree with the unified gunnels (mine have been replaced twice) Yours are not replaceable. The additional strength? THAT is good. Yours may be stronger than the boat which makes replacement a moot point. Aside from an astoundingly beautiful boat, the marriage of carbon and UHMWPE, if creep has been solved, sounds like a made in heaven solution. My boat has gotten heavier over the last six years,(I have grown weaker? More that likely.)
What beautiful lines! But do you or would you consider designeing/creating a rowing craft for the purpose of messing about in boats. Not traveling per se or racing but daily exercise, light fishing?
IDEA -- Why not have a "carbon foot bar" that can connect the two "Kayak foot braces". It would be nice if the Foot Braces could accept the foot bar. There are times when both systems would be preferable and being able to have the best of both worlds would be a no brainier option. It is certainly the option I would pick...
Great video Gentlemen. I am seriously considering ordering a 15 8 cruiser and I really like the slightly elevated seat because I think it would be a bit nicer for using a canoe paddle. I will be using a straight blade. But I also enjoy how the 15 8 handles with a kayak paddle so does the elevated seat alter one's ability to use a kayak paddle? Any thoughts you can share would be appreciated.
Barry, the Cruiser 15.8 high the high seat works very well with a kayak paddle. It's a super comfortable position with a higher vantage point! Let me know if you want to chat on the phone :)
Swift makes some of the best boats in the world. Get ready to pay for it. I think it's justified. I love nano but that's got.yo be the worst tripping dog selection I've ever seen.
Don't ask me why but I've got tears from watching this???? Such a beautiful story and canoe. Nano, they don't call them man's best friend for nothing.

Was wondering if Art use the 15.8 for day tripping only, or if it is also used for multi day trips where gear has to be fitted in?

The height of this higher Pack Seat is about the same as the Canoe Seat height on the 15.8.
