hello friend. thank you very much for this videos. these were really helpful. I have a ps3 motherboard with the same sympthoms. thank to your videos I found a resistance giving 0 OHM value, around the IDT 9277BNLG chip, the one you went to check first after trying the mosfets. I will try to reflow it and see if hopefully it fixes it. Greetings from Argentina.
When using a heat gun for reflowing solder, it's crucial to set the correct temperature and apply heat for the appropriate amount of time to avoid damaging the components. you should set your heat gun to 350°C to 400°C (660°F to 750°F). This range is commonly used for leaded and lead-free solder. The heating time can vary depending on the size and type of the component. For a typical reflow on a chip, aim for 30 seconds to 1 minute of consistent heat application. Move the heat gun in a circular motion around the component to ensure even heating and to avoid scorching any one area. Start by gently heating the surrounding area before focusing directly on the component to reduce the risk of thermal shock. Use Flux: Applying flux beforehand can help the solder flow more smoothly and evenly. Watch closely for the solder to start flowing, which is a sign it's reached the right temperature. Be careful not to overheat the component, as too much heat can damage both the solder and the board. If you need more detailed advice, feel free to ask!
@idreestech I have the same problem that is shown in the video, a resistor is reading at 55 ohms, but when I'm using the heat gun, it is not melting the solder. I have the temperature set to 350 degrees celsius and I added solder flux as well and nothing is happening. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?
Can you teach how to use XY mode on osciloscope? The motherboard must have voltage to measure that? Or it's like ones ohms reading? How many problems you connect? 2 ? How you do to not connecting gnd wire one the problems ? Thanks... Greatings from Portugal 🇵🇹 🌟
My friend Idris, I am a beginner in maintaining consoles. Are there plans for the main check points that we can benefit from, or do you make a video dedicated to the main check points for each device?

hello my friend, greetings from turkey My 4204A Super Slim console has the same issue. it was caused by the socket I plugged in, there was a sound from the socket and my console turned off and turned on a red light. The console sometimes opens without any outside intervention, so opening it by applying pressure does not work in this console. When the console is opened, I can use it without any problems as before. Trying a new psu didn't solve my problem, what should I do to fix the console?
Great question! To find the correct resistor values: Check the Schematics: If you have access to your PS3 motherboard schematics, it will list the resistor values. Multimeter Testing: Measure the resistance of an identical resistor in the same group or from a working board. Color Code: Resistors often have color bands indicating their resistance. Use an online resistor color code calculator if needed. Consult the Community: Forums or repair videos might mention typical values for certain resistors. If you’re unsure or need specific values, feel free to ask with more details about the resistor's location on the board! 👍
Sir mera ps3 fat model hai pehlay jab on krta tha to red light on hoti thi phir green bhi on hokay band hojati thi lekin ab bilkul power bhi nhi dy rahi hai matlab k no lights is ka koi solution hai?
I wish we had some good repairman here but nope My ps3(cech-4301c) suddenly turn off for no reason and i just thought it was nothing.. and also don't play much and only turning it on for 1-2 hours to heat it up every 3-5days... Now its just red light, pressing power button will turn green for a sec and turn blank... pressing power button will make it light red again then another press green light for sec and then blank...cycle Most of the rapair man here suggest i just new ps3 or move on to ps4(i have ps4 but i still want to play with my ps3 console)
@KAZAMA231 It’s frustrating when repair options seem limited. From what you described, the issue might be power-related or could involve a component on the motherboard, like a failing NEC/Tokin capacitor or power IC. I completely understand wanting to keep your PS3 running, especially if it holds special value. If you're comfortable with some DIY or have access to someone with technical expertise, it might be worth exploring a repair. I'm here to guide you if needed-feel free to ask! 🙌
It sounds like your PS3 is experiencing intermittent power issues, which could be caused by a few different factors. Here are some potential reasons and solutions: Replace Thermal Paste: If your PS3 is overheating, replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU can help. Check Power Supply: If you have another PS3 power supply or can find a replacement, try swapping it out to see if the problem is resolved. If you need more detailed help with any of these steps, feel free to ask!

Sorry about that dear.
What temperature did you set your heat gun to, and how long does it normally take to heat up the solder for the reflow?

You can compare component readings with the negative probe connected to GND. To do this, you need another functional motherboard for comparison.

reflowing the resistance just temporary solves the problem?
