For those grinding to this day, completing reconnaissance squad gives you 5 elaborate gadgets if that helps.
I just started playing a couple days ago and trying to figure out a good way to upgrade my pod. Mine is still lvl. 1

For anybody curious, the shop at the amusement park sells filler metal.

When ? I am about to finish my second play through and the shop is only selling about 8 really common items. no filler metal

@@SarcasmIsNear that sucks, i think father servo's quest will not appear on third playthrough and it needs a filler metal
If anyone is trying to do this but can't seem to fish it up, there are two androids in the bunker that have a conversation about a pod lost in the flooded city. As soon as i spoke to them and tried again i got it on the 3rd attempt. I was also in route C, so i used chapter select to go back to the bunker. Not entirely sure if talking to those two androids matters or not but it made a difference in my experience.
This is the way to do it. Been trying for an hour and only caught fish.. after talking to them i went back and caught the pod first try. Thanks

I've managed to fish up Pod B on my first attempt in the Flooded City on my first playthrough, never even knew those androids existed.
I find you have better luck catching it if you fish exclusively in the pool of water on your right when you first come into the Flooded City, right by the Missle Platform.
Idk if I managed to hack the game or something, but I get it pretty consistently every time I start a new game, never even need to make it to Route B or C.
I think for dictionary and book and manual I saw it by the swings by the tree where the enemies spawn on the other side of the apartment of the transporter at the Desert: housing complex/duplex whatever it was called. The save point before you meet Adam and eve.

the gadgets droprate is ass.....2 eloborate gadgets and they.just won't drop
Marc Austermann i found you only get 2 max from the forest crib then u have to switch to the building near the factor entrance n they spawn every other one for the last 3

nice vid very helpfull. I gues almost no one makes lvl up pod or weapon vid on youtube well at least not as clear way u do. Btw u think u could make weapon lvl up vid? or at lest give some advices about farming spot for spike fists weapon?

This is the tenth video and or guide I've been through trying desperately to find 1 complex gadget. Somehow somewhere I got enough to be at lvl 3 with pod b and max all my weapons. I have 2 in my inventory and that fucking cradle has given me 99 simple gadgets and 99 elaborate ones. yes ive been trying that damn long and I still only have the 2 complex gadgets I started with which did not come out of the cradle. So basically what you say by "if you're lucky" is that I am the singularly most unlucky person on earth.
chapter select to the first chapter at the city ruins and the weapons shop quest asks you to get complex gadgets and instead of giving it to him just load into a different chapter

I'll say that ive accidentally fished that area and never got that pod until chapter select option came available but maybe yu got it by now or yeah that'll do it for sure
Go to the bunker. On the main circular hallway you will see 2 YoRHa soldiers talking. Talk to the one on the right. They mention a lost pod in the flooded city. Then transport to the flooded city and fish in the ocean. Took me 2 trys after I spoke with them.
You probably won't reply since this was so late, but what effects do upgrading your pod have?
Check the Wiki page, it has the upgraded effects in detail, they almost completely change how the pod works, for all 3 pods

It's the one with the two runaway resistance members that starts in pascals village.
You have to follow them around and give them money and at the end you get it

I missed it my first play through and went back and did it again after.
It just sucks that you have to start the quest again from the beginning, even if you'd already done half of it

im in 3rd playthrough but i cant upgrade my pod b eventhough i have all the materials. i havent upgraded any of my pods yet.
Do you have enough cash? I had that problem with weapon upgrades lol
What's the shop telling you?
it says you dont have enough material but i do and i have over 380k gold. i can upgrade pod a but i cant up pod b.
I need the achievement of all pods in max level before I finish the game for the 5th time.

Dude that stupid cradle is EMPTY for me no matter what I do!! Absolutely NOTHING there ever!! Maybe that only spawns items in route a.
I have better luck catching the pod down by the other end were you go during the first mission there
