The first B-Side from the Red Hot Chili Peppers song 'Scar Tissue' from their 1999 album 'Californication'. The second B-Side was 'Instrumental #1. Enjoy!
This is the same way I felt when I discovered the B-Sides back in 2013 (first B-Side I listened to was Quixoticelixer) about a year or two after I first listened to the band (first song I heard from them was Californication, and I was hooked from that point on.) I already loved them before I heard the B-Sides, but now they're always the best band ever for me. Same thing with John's solo work.
Red Hot Chili Peppers Going Li Some people say you hate me, I don't believe it's true, things that you're going through Some people say you hate me, I don't believe it's you, things that you're going through, Some people sad I pray for, No one you want to live, the eyes that once were his Some people sad I pray for, The way you want to live, the eyes you want to give Some people say you played me, I don't care if it's true, I'm waiting here for you, Some people say you made it, I'm not afraid to know, when things are getting low Some people say you hate me, I don't believe it's true, things that you're going through Some people say you hate me, I don't believe it's you, things that you're going through
RHCP is my favorite band but I just found this song only a couple days ago. I'm going through a hard time and honestly listening to this is the first time I've felt even the slightest bit of genuine happiness in a quite while. I love this song
First heard this song when i bough a 45 vinyl Scar Tissue record it was the b-side to it i never heard the song bedore but when i did i replayed it about a million times.
truly beautiful, like so many of the tracks that didn't make it onto a studio album. i'm sad that we'll probably never hear this kind of a motif in their music again. who knows, maybe john will make music with them again one day :)
In fact, i have read that Flea wrote the song during a period in which the band wasn't 100% sure about carrying on after John first going. I'm not totally sure that the lyrics are about John, beside the fact that they seem to be about John.
reminds me of my ex boyfriend, we used to always listen to this song...now this song lyrics reminds me of him soooo much!! I would give almost anything to have him back in my life...
@fleacock131313 From Wiki: "The Red Hot Chili Peppers B Side "Gong Li" was named after her. It appears on the Scar Tissue single. The song is not about her but it was named for its oriental sound."
Striking resemblance between this and All Apologies by Nirvana. I do know that John Frusciante originally hated Kurt and Nirvana but around 1997 he started admiring Kurts work (especially B-sides and extra songs from singles) and did a couple of live covers.
This is the best RHCP song ever!!! If they dropped this in the middle of a gig... say the big day out in Australia, they would hit number 1 in the charts again!!!
if i remember right, for the last year or two of john's addiction, himself and anthony literally felt nothing like they did around 1992, quite the opposite
Frusciante is hugely responsible for RHCP's success. Their first 3 albums, without him, were underground and not hits. Then, Mother's Milk, the first album he was on, was a smash. BSSM was a massive hit. Then he left, and One Hot Minute was a disappointment. With Frusicante back, Californication was their most successful album ever. By The Way and Stadium Arcadium were hits. And with him gone again, I'm With You was disappointing. I find I'm With You unlistenable after one listen through. Looking at the sales, Stadium Arcadium sold over 8 million copies, whereas I'm With You sold less than 1.5 million. It seems like there's always been tension between Kiedis and Frusciante. It also seems like Kiedis always underplays John's importance to the band. Also, another interesting fact I noticed is that Frusciante's net worth is way lower than the other band members. Frusciante has around 14 million, whereas all the others have 100 million or more. Wonder why that is, considering that Frusciante was the key to their success.
+Led Debexpert Yeah, it's listenable, I like Monarchy of Roses. But with most Chili Pepper albums I have the desire to listen to them over and over for days on end. I didn't feel that desire with I'm With You, after one listen I didn't feel very compelled to relisten. It just didn't have that spark for me. And yeah, Frusciante probably won't come back. I also heard that he's going to stop releasing music altogether, which is too bad. But at least we have his works of genius with RHCP to always listen to
Yeah, some like OHM. But the general critical reception was that it was far worse than BSSM, their previous album that catapulted them to fame. With their new song Dark Necessities, it didn't do it for me. It was decent, but didn't have that spark that made me want to listen over and over. Flea is the main musical driving force of the band now with John gone, which isn't a bad thing. But Frusciante was a huge musical driving force, and Josh can't compare at all. Josh is pretty passive and in the background, adding little riffs and ethereal noodling, but not creating strong, simple melodies and chord progressions like Frusciante did.
well its obviously not him as why would he be on youtube almost seeking attention by having his username as his actual name and informing people of his identity also if you click on his username it says his age is 14 so i think that tells u all you need to know
10 years from now, wehn they are gonna retire (i will be crying) they better re-release californication, ohm, btw, sa with all the bsides and not to mention the entire album of stuff they didnt release. the other demo songs like circle of the noose and takin care of business would be awesome too.
johns fucing amazing so is josh they all make emotional real music no bullshitmaterialistic crap that most modern day music is sti;l good bands but you have to want to find good music to hear it
They probably have enough b sides to bless us with for another decade.. not many bands you can say got better n better after each album. I thought blood sugar sex magic was the pinnacle until they dropped californication
I love rhcp. Then ive started to hear the b sides and I am now sure this band will always have a very special place in my heart.
mine too!
same here man
I fell in love with rhcp ans then john frusciante's solo work, never thought I'd be a mad fan girl about anything, but I guess i was wrong
This is the same way I felt when I discovered the B-Sides back in 2013 (first B-Side I listened to was Quixoticelixer) about a year or two after I first listened to the band (first song I heard from them was Californication, and I was hooked from that point on.)
I already loved them before I heard the B-Sides, but now they're always the best band ever for me.
Same thing with John's solo work.
I feel like everyone has those bands that are very special to you. Rhcp is definitely one of those for me aswell
I heard a busker in the street playing this the other day, was random. Sick song
You were likely the only person that recognised it
🍺😍
i would’ve loved to see it
they need to release all their b-sides as an album
👍
I still wait for that lol
I can burn you a cd..
All that era b-sides comes from a complete album that will never be released.
I love it because it has that hint of classic spongebob background music. :P
steel guitar music .
"spongebob bgm" lol
I'm pretty sure its the other way around. Spongebob has a hint of rhcp =D

@@benjaminlizana1994 you’re welcome 😉 sir
we also have to thank Dave Navarrao - the short replacement for John. Cause he was the one who literally said, they have to get back Frusciante :)
Peace Love and Appreciation that was Flea, actually

very calming chord progression.
Another fucking banger by the chili's that never made it on an album!
Haven’t heard this song in probably 18 years. I’m a teenager again!! Thanks for posting.
Beautiful melody..
Love You ♥ Rhcp ♥
Flea asked him if he wanted to play again, to which John broke down crying responded "nothing would make me happier in the world."
RHCP is my favorite band but I just found this song only a couple days ago. I'm going through a hard time and honestly listening to this is the first time I've felt even the slightest bit of genuine happiness in a quite while. I love this song
i felt this comment
I don't believe it's you, things that you're going through!! I love this song, very simple, very few lyrics yet it hits me straight in the heart.
I don't know why this song doesn't get more famous? Like, it's the best
RHCP are my life
also my ...
and mine!
mine too!
They're my nan!
Mine too man, mine too
First heard this song when i bough a 45 vinyl Scar Tissue record it was the b-side to it i never heard the song bedore but when i did i replayed it about a million times.
I recomend to listen to the instrumental demo version, so beautiful and it captures a different feeling and vibration, still this is also beautiful.
John said in an interview that this is one of his favorite guitars he's ever done for the Chili Peppers
Songs like this are what make RHCP more than just a rock band....
this melody at 1:28 reminds me of all apologies by nirvana!!!!!!!
truly beautiful, like so many of the tracks that didn't make it onto a studio album. i'm sad that we'll probably never hear this kind of a motif in their music again. who knows, maybe john will make music with them again one day :)
that day has come already!
Wish come true my friend
Update from 2022, Return of the Dream Canteen is KILLER. Welcome back John.

This is like...their most chill, pop radio worthy song I've ever heard. Love that they're so diverse!
I love Frusciante! Badass guitarist
you just figured that out?.....this was something Anthony wrote about John the first time he ditched the band for smack.
In fact, i have read that Flea wrote the song during a period in which the band wasn't 100% sure about carrying on after John first going. I'm not totally sure that the lyrics are about John, beside the fact that they seem to be about John.

This song reminds me of my Hometown in LA that I love ❤️ LA so much fun and this song is beautiful
This is way better than Scar Tissue.
This music carries me through the days...💕
Anyone hear a similarity between John's guitar intro and the guitar line in "All Apologies" by Nirvana?
I never ever get tired of this song
The intro sounds just a bit like All apologies just with more notes in between :D
The beginning sounds very much like John's album, Shadows Collide with People.
Gorgeous Gong Li! Such a beauty. A song for a goddess!
Intro riff sounds like all apologies by nirvana
gong li is a brilliant Chinese actress and rhcp are an awesome band :))
they should make a dont forget me b-side
I’ve listened to this like 10 times today
Can we get this song in Tidal please and thank you

I'd rather they get Navaro back, he was great on one hot minute
this song is blowing my mind
since this song isnt on itunes, how do i get a good quality version of this song onto my ipod or a cd?
Como Amo esta song
Like si eres de Latino América 2020
🇨🇱
the intro of this song is one of the beatifulest thinghs in the world... man!
This is the best RHCP song ever!!! If they dropped this in the middle of a gig... say the big day out in Australia, they would hit number 1 in the charts again!!!
so beautiful and lyircal! damn they are good!
I love John's beautiful guitar playing!!
if i remember right, for the last year or two of john's addiction, himself and anthony literally felt nothing like they did around 1992, quite the opposite
Reminds me of My Apologies (intro) anyone else?
I’m a big Chilli Pepper fan and I’ve only just discovered this song!
New deeper level of artisty on another demention. I'm tripping. Well done -A :)
this song is sooo good! im addicted
OH MY GODDDDDDDS the song very niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and sweettt
i discover the nice past of the band.
Yes, and "Soul to Squeeze", a b-side to "Give it Away", became popular, and became a single.
Yeah I know its total Bullshit with all these people believeing him/her, he/she even went on other pages trying to convince people -.-"
John Frusciante whoever you are you need to stop posing as the real guy it pisses me the hell off.
Dude, this has an awesome vibe. Allthough its really familiar from somewhere...
Probably All apologies nirvana

+jbarkerhill92 not really unlistenable but yes you have a clear picture of what happened and Frusciante will not come back probably

One hot minute is the funkiest piece of shit out there. And in my opinion the best record.

NO!!! BORN ON 10-29-1968
I bet you aren't the real Anthony because it's simple to spell his name correctly!!! If you are then answer me immediately: How did Hillel Slovak die?
They probably have enough b sides to bless us with for another decade.. not many bands you can say got better n better after each album. I thought blood sugar sex magic was the pinnacle until they dropped californication
OMG!!!! Okay, my teacher love this song!!! And I love it of course to...
well pffft of course not i wrote blood sugar sex magik, californication, and stadium arcadium... jk but theyre both great guitarists
@Bohemian00Rhapsody it was because of the sound, something like that was standing on wikipedia (: not really about the women ;p
is there an album with all of the B-sides?:D
This song is so cute
Leave me hanging longer than I like but man does that chorus squeeze me tight..
@baughskeet Yeah but they still stole it from nirvana who probebly also stole it
@Dunbandrie Sigh. Then why are you here? You're just going to start a flame war.
this should have been on the album
One of my favourite B-side's 👍👍❤
i mean Josh is not too bad he's a great guitarist but not as good as you...
