It’s from an album the recorded in 2004 that John decided he didn’t want to release. The album would also have featured save the population and fortune faded. They decided to do the greatest hits instead. A shame honestly.

@@EdEddnEddyMercury No. they entered the studio in 2004 to record one or two bonus tracks and instead got hit by a huge wave of creativity and they created "Leverage of Space", "Rolling Sly Stone", "Mini Epic/Kill for your country", "Starlight","50/fifty","Bicycle song", "Runaway" and maybe more. all created after btw and californication
The great part about being a Chili Peppers fan is that you can constantly discover songs songs by them you didn’t know existed, and they’re all fantastic.
The guitar starting at 3:50 is pure Frusciante perfection.

This is probably one of the best rock songs I’ve ever heard.
Coming from a huge rock head it has multiple elements of different genres and they combine them so perfectly and elegantly. The song just works so well.
And no one even knows about it which really sucks

This song was originally recorded for By The Way album and was one of Kiedis's favorites despite it was refused to be included in album. He mentioned the song in interview in 2002, the year before the release of this single.

First time i listened Eskimo was in and 2008 YT video with many cut parts of RHCP songs and many of them I didnt know back then. But the video didn't show the songs name, so for years I had only the chorus and the 1st verse in my head without knowing itXD When i finally found the song, everytime i listen the verse and the chorus automatically my head plays the song that came afterXD, even with so many years not wachting! And now the things got inverted, because I have the song, but not the video, i think it doesnt exists anymore. Pretty sad, it was one of my fave videos as a child...

First re-listen for me in probably 10 years or so. This 'deep cut b-side' with John is easily better than anything they released on 'The Getaway' and certainly 'I'm with you' (their worst album IMO). Not to put Josh down put damn I'm glad John came back!

My favorite Chili Pepper. It pisses me off SO much that he left the band. They came to my city not terribly long ago, and I refused to go since he left. (I do SERIOUSLY regret that now, and will certainly go if they come anywhere remotely nearby again. Still.)

@jackthebassist I agree with you....the music is so explorative and innovative...listen to Flea play his trumpet, then there's the harpsicord at the beginning and John ever lyrical, fluid notes from his guitar....pure genius. It's too bad that they could not stay true to themselves b/c I feel the B-(C &D) sides really are who and what the band is about. The was so much commercialism associated with By The Way...I will say one thing for it...that CD saved my life...literally. they're impecable
