First time I ever heard of the Darkhold was in the comics. it was during the Midnight Sons storyline. The Darkhold Redeemers comics. People would be given pages of the Darkhold it would give them what they desired. The Redeemers would then have to get them back. Reminds me of the show Todd and the Book of Pure Evil.
Strange wasn't trying to save her before he died in the beginning scene, he was absorbing her power for himself because it'd be easier for him to defend her that way rather than endlessly coming to her rescue. Catch is that this would also kill her.
Partially true. Mostly, though, he didn't trust that she'd be able to hold on to them, and he thought he'd be able to keep the monster from getting them if he were in control. More of Doctor Strange's control issues since even before he became a wizard. He knew it would kill her.

No Ashleigh. He (Ponytail Strange) promised her he'd help her and when things got TOO MUCH for him he tried to sacrifice her HIMSELF instead of letting her powers get taken. He literally tried to KILL her. But was stopped by the monster. IT actually saved her FROM Strange.
For the cameo at the end by Charlize Theron, that is Clea. The two main things to remember about Clea is that she eventually becomes Dr. Strange's wife, and she's also Dormammu's NIECE.
Wanda is such an interesting and complicated antagonist. Other villains just want power but she really just wants the love of her children. Elizabeth Olsen is such an amazing actress. When she glares and lowers the pitch of her voice she is so threatening.
not really cuz he didn't open the book page by page he only open 2-3 pages and u need the presence of the darkhold(u need the darkhold itself) to use the spell in it that's why Wanda ask Wong abt it when it gets destroyed,if u can just memories it why did Wanda ask Wong in the first place she has the darkhold for 3 years don't u think she at least memories those spells in the book? so no, darkhold doesn't exists in strange mind 🙂
True, also if one book exists the universe demands the other book to exist. As a counterbalance since the universe is bi-polar. Strange or Wanda will rewrite the Darkhold wether they want to or not. Each force needs a anchor point.
Your preach at the end made me think of the movie Little Miss Sunshine when Greg Kinner fails at his attempt at creating a new self-help program. His father - Alan Arkin, you is normally gruff & sarcastic, put his hand on his son shoulder and gives his son unfiltered respect. Why? Not too many humans attempt such ventures. He tried, he failed. His attempt was more than most people do on their whole lives, and for that his father let him know he didn’t let him down as a son.
Our Captain Marvel can fling herself through battle class space ships like they are made of tissue paper. This captain Marvel is vulnerable to stone statues. Rip
I think some source or other implies that Wanda managed to drain the Maria Rambeau Captain Marvel of her power before bringing the statue down on her. But admittedly, the veracity of said source may yet be debatable.
People tend to have an issue with Strange being cavalier enough in No Way Home to perform that memory erasing spell, to the point there was speculation he was an imposter or under some influence. Turns out, this movie where Strange breaks some rules was meant to come out _before_ No Way Home. His attitude would’ve probably seemed way less odd then.
"Cavalier"? That was flat our incompetence (by the writers). "Okay, Dr Strange, we need you to waste your time to do something so stupid you would never even consider doing, then fuck it up because umm.... uhh.... don't look into the future or plan anything umm... just do what the kid says"
....Huh. HUH. I need to sit and think about that. (Although the fact that the director and writers of this movie did not collaborate or take cures from the creators of Wandavision tells me it may not have mattered)
The messy reality of the Infinite Multiverse is that, if anything is possible, everything becomes inevitable, so no story ultimately means anything. Everything, Everywhere all at Once did this better.

The actress playing Maria Rambeau/Captain Marvel also played Maria Rambeau in "Captain Marvel", the mother of Monica Rambeau from "WandaVision" Bruce Campbell hitting himself is a reference to the "Evil Dead" and "Army of Darkness" movies.
Something I love about BC is soon as he got the role of doctor strange he did what everyone from actor to director should do but don't is headed to a comic book store and read the comics so he could do the character right
In the comics, The Scarlet Witch has seen on both sides of being good an a villan. At one point she wiped out the powers and abilities of every mutant on the planet. Unchecked, she is powerful and dangerous.
The food cart guy that was sprayed with mustard is Bruce Campbell. You saw him in the Evil Dead series which was directed by Sam Rami. Sam directed this movie and it really shows, from the cinematography to the special and makeup effects. Sam also directed the original Spiderman trilogy where Bruce made cameos. (I wrote this before finishing the video, I don't know if she picked up on the deadite esq Dr. Strange.) Edit: At the end she did pick out it was Bruce Campbell. I am really glad she enjoyed this movie. It is one of my favorites.
Really?? "we did not just lose Wong did we?" Really??? You just said not three minutes earlier that you no longer care about the whole losing people BECAUSE the Multiverse can just pop in a new version and then you ask if we just lost Wong??? In your own words: IT DOESN'T MATTER if we just lost Wong. They'll be another Wong from the Multiverse to love and become attached to.
It is a shame this movie came out after "Everything Everywhere All At Once" provided a much better example of the Multi-verse. This movies few Multi-verses just didn't live up to the bar set by EEAAO.
In the comics the Scarlet Witch is known for her ability to resurrect, so I sincerely doubt that her death will ultimately stick. She still has many important roles to play in the upcoming X-Men era of the MCU.

The original script for this movie was so much better. Wanda would have been helping Strange and America most of the movie against the villain Nightmare. In the end, she would have taken the Darkhold and gone off to find her children. It would have been a much better continuation of her story arc in WandaVision instead of just being an instant villain like what we got.
It's great that you picked up on the "Carrie" reference. Sam Raimi put several other Stephen King easter eggs ("Cujo", "Dark Tower", "Shining", "Dark Half", etc) into the movie as well.
I loved this movie, and I loved part of the commentary where you talked about the deeper meaning. It was a solid movie, and I hope we get to see Wanda again in the future. She's also one of my faves.
1.) In dimension-838, the Ultron program was a success. They’re fulfilling their true purpose and not going mad with power. 2.) The Illuminati made their comic debut almost 20 years ago. Just like in this movie, three of the founding members were Black Bolt, Mister Fantastic, and Professor X. Two of the other members were Doctor Strange and Iron Man. For this film, the latter two were replaced by Captain Carter and Captain Marvel. However, this version of Captain Carter is not the same one we met in What If. Also, Carol doesn’t become Captain Marvel. The mantle instead falls on her best friend Maria Rambeau. 3.) Until 2019, Marvel Studios legally (and ironically) couldn't use X-Men or even mention them or say the word "mutant" because 20th Century Fox held the film rights to them. However, after the Walt Disney company bought Fox's tv and film divisions, Marvel was able to take back the film rights to X-Men, Deadpool, and the Fantastic Four among other characters. As a result of the merger, the Fox corporation became their own thing. So they had to change the name of the tv and film studio. 20th Century Fox is now known as 20th Century Studios. 4.) The success that the X-Men cartoon had on the Fox Kids block was the reason that 20th Century Fox took a chance at creating the X-Men films to begin with. 838-Charles is visually a merger of both the animated series and the live-action films. Patrick Stewart portrayed the character again while also wearing the same suit and riding the same hoverchair as his counterpart from the cartoon. In fact, my favorite part in all of Multiverse of Madness was hearing the reorchestrated opening track to X-Men: The Animated Series when Charles arrived in his hoverchair. It’ll still be a while until you can get to Deadpool & Wolverine. For now, pat yourself in the back for having completed the X-Men film saga. In the meantime, X-Men: The Animated Series ran for five seasons. That story continues under the name X-Men '97. Some of the original voice cast returned, and two more seasons are in production. 5.) In other news, Marvel Studios is working on a new Fantastic Four film called The First Steps and it’s currently slated for Friday, July 25th of next year. It will be directed by Matt Shakman, the same guy who directed all nine episodes of WandaVision. And guess what? This new version of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic will be portrayed by none other than Joel Miller himself Pedro Pascal. *By the way, Pedro wrapped up production on The Last of Us season 2 a few months ago. After that, he went straight to work on The First Steps. We don’t have an official release date for The Last of Us season 2 quite yet, but they’re looking to release it in the spring. 6.) And finally, Black Bolt is from the Inhumans show that unfortunately didn't do so well. However, there is one other show that does a much better job at showcasing who inhumans are…
Your insight and attention to detail has ALMOST convinced me that Disney and Feige haven't completely ruined a beloved childhood passion for comics and their cinematic universe.

Yes, the pizza ball guy was Bruce Campbell. This movie was directed by his Evil Dead pal Sam Raimi.
And that was Charlize Theron as the blonde.
Clea. In the comics she is Dormammu's niece, an apprentice of Steven's, his wife for a while, and eventually his successor as Sorcerer Supreme.
The very last thing..."Is that Bruce Campbell? "
And we all lost it! Stood and cheered...THAT'S OUR GURL! Fist pump!
I can't wait for Dr. Strange 3: Pizza Papa's revenge to come out.
I would totally watch that!!!!
If you keep having to tell people you're not a monster, you just might be a monster.
Ashleigh's reactions throughout this movie are just AMAZING. She is full on wigged. And I'm so proud of her using tons of past movie/pop culture references like she's an honorary Gen Xer. Well done, Ashleigh!
Ashleigh recognizing Bruce Campbell is the best moment of the week. Welcome to the Multiverse, you have so much to learn about it. Dino World and the Sentinel area were a nice touch. Glad you're enjoying this MCU ride. I suggest The Punisher (2004) and Ghost Rider (2007).
"Just because someone stumbles and loses their way doesn't mean they're lost forever".. that's what older Xavier told his younger self in Days of Future Past, and then younger Xavier said that to Hank and Logan shortly after..

Rintrah is a Marvel character who is Doctor Strange's minotaur apprentice. Aka Cow Man.
It's not a COWMAN, "IT's A LONGHORN BULL STEER"! Don't you ever watch any WESTERN MOVIES that MADE AMERICA GREAT IN REAL LIFE? Such Dumbass people in REAL LIFE these days & nights.
I was thinking it was a wundergore reference
Rin-Trah was a latter version of 'Wong' for Dr. Strange in the comics. I think he may have even become the Sorcerer Supreme at one time.
It's entirely possible (maybe likely) that the iteration of Wanda who brought down the structure is indeed dead for good, but that doesn't mean we won't see Wanda again.
Speaking of Bruce Campbell...that's one film you should have watched during HallowBeans: "Bubba Ho-Tep"!
Oh hell yah! Ashleigh would love that one.
8:23 Ashleigh instantly forgetting that the other version of Stephen was taking America's power/killing her right before he died.
24:25 No, Beyoncé is traveling with Wanda.
26:22 That part bugged me so much. They didn't take the time to listen, or understand the situation, and they were so arrogant and dismissive of an unknown danger that could clearly cross into other universes.
33:15 I know it's for dramatic effect, but it drives me nuts when people are being chased and they stop like this. Take advantage of any head start that you can get!
45:19 Given the weird nightmares I had when I was younger, I definitely don't want to visit some of those universes.
46:32 Yup! And this movie was directed by the guy who did the og Evil Dead movies.
47:57 I think self-forgiveness is the hardest to give or accept.
Love that you quoted Harrison Ford's character from Air Force One since he's going to be playing the President of the United States in the MCU.
And the quote still works perfectly for this movie, since they are indeed located in a "plane".
I love that Sam Ramey still puts Bruce Campbell in all of his movies
They've been friends since high school!
*Raimi
Bruce Campbell seems to always have a antagonistic relationship with his hands
Ash's Oldsmobile shows up in Raimi movies too.
In this one, it's floating in the street in the Evil Strange's world.
@SSD_Penumbra "The Classic" his old Olds Delta 88. He even covered it with a wagon or stage coach covering in his Western.
I think it's worth noting that the words the long hair Strange was about to say to America Chavez before he died were the exact same words our Strange said to Spiderman before he tried to send the villains back to be killed.
Wanda is dead according to Marvel, but.... At this point I doubt anyone who is dead is going to stay that way, especially Wanda. Yoda said, "The greatest teacher, failure is.". And he was super smart and green.
No body, no death.
the Darkhold was explored in "Agents of Shield" tv series.
But that book looks different than the other one from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 4.
@@johnsantos507 "It's a copy" is enough of an excuse when it comes to multiversal shenanigans. Hecks knows there are a lot more Darkholds unaffected by Wanda across the Multiverse.
@@snukastyleStephen said that Wanda destroyed the Darkhold in every universe.
@@FuzzyFoot58 Indeed he did. And is very wrong. He said it himself that the multiverse is something he knows very little about. But as far as the MCU goes, at least for now, it's supposedly out of the picture.
"If you're not helping, shut up." - YUP! LOL
47:54 - Your revelation here really got me.. obviously something I needed to hear so thank you.
And finally, 🎶Agatha All Along!! 🎶🎵🎶

Thanksgiving is going to get awkward! 😂
_"Dormammu, I've come to bargain...for the peas."_

Wanda is such an interesting and complicated antagonist. Other villains just want power but she really just wants the love of her children. Elizabeth Olsen is such an amazing actress. When she glares and lowers the pitch of her voice she is so threatening.
“You guys have Beyoncé” lol hahaha that made me lose my shit 😂
wanda destroying every PHYSICALLY copy of the darkhold. problem is, one "exists" in strange's head- because he can remember everything he memorizes.
Damn look at you with the insight, that’s actually pretty alarming
not really cuz he didn't open the book page by page he only open 2-3 pages and u need the presence of the darkhold(u need the darkhold itself) to use the spell in it that's why Wanda ask Wong abt it when it gets destroyed,if u can just memories it why did Wanda ask Wong in the first place she has the darkhold for 3 years don't u think she at least memories those spells in the book? so no, darkhold doesn't exists in strange mind 🙂
@@trevor5936pls do some research "photographic memory". it will help you and other dense wanda stans!
This was supposed to be released before No Way Home but Covid messed up the schedule. America was supposed to open the portals instead of Ned.
OMG! Can't wait for your Agatha All Along reaction!
Loved the end credit scene with actress Charlize Theron.
I hope she returns in Doctor Strange 3.
ashleigh saying 'ewwww.....ewwwww..." is the highlight of my day today, so funny
Right, and America Chavez was supposed to be introduced in one of the earlier movies or shows, but had to be rewritten into this one.
Fun reaction Ashleigh.. I actually enjoyed your reaction then the movie itself, so thanks for that~ Happy Holidays!!

Dr Strange was supposed to appear in Wandavision. There is a fan theory that he was responsible for the comercials. He was trying to reach her.
It's not a fan theory. It's the original idea from the writers. It's in the extras.

She's essentially a demi-god, a demi-god+ with the Darkhold.
Strange.)
Edit: At the end she did pick out it was Bruce Campbell.
I am really glad she enjoyed this movie. It is one of my favorites.
Bruce is also the only character to defeat Spider-Man three times!

This movie was rewritten almost a dozen times and it really shows....especially with Raimi just phoning it in.
I love how when Wong appears the soundtrack goes "Wong!"
Ashleigh's lack of cultural knowledge is really quite exposed here. Doesnt even know a Minotaur when she sees one.
Not everyone has studied ancient Greek culture.
Or knows Fantasy
It's great that you picked up on the "Carrie" reference. Sam Raimi put several other Stephen King easter eggs ("Cujo", "Dark Tower", "Shining", "Dark Half", etc) into the movie as well.
The Minotaur is named Rintrah and in the comics he's a Mystic/Sorceror from another dimension/timeline
He became a trainee and disciple of Dr. Strange.
I still think it's wild they just dropped a talkin, green minotaur like he was always there
I loved this movie, and I loved part of the commentary where you talked about the deeper meaning.
However, there is one other show that does a much better job at showcasing who inhumans are…
That is one hell of a synopsis. Nice work.
Your insight and attention to detail has ALMOST convinced me that Disney and Feige haven't completely ruined a beloved childhood passion for comics and their cinematic universe.
