Well said! Homesteading doesn't necessarily mean you're going to live a "primitive lifestyle" as you said. It DOES mean that you intend for your land/home to produce for you in some way. ~And anything you can produce on your own for you and your family is immeasurable.
I love the part where she is saying to keep the modern convienences and still enjoy the country life. Her kiddo is in the back swinging on that huge tire! That is the dream!!! When you spoke of the Lord, I subscribed! God bless!!!
Hardest part is finding the right location. My bf is immune compromised with multiple sclerosis so we have to be within a 20 minute drive to a decent hospital. We finally signed a contract to rent our 4 acre homestead! Moving in a week.
Plan Year 1: crops, orchard & natives Year 2: fowl & rabbits Year 3: sheep The property we’re moving to already has a barn, fenced pasture & a greenhouse frame. Just gonna clean up the property, add tree grafts & raised beds & preserve crop the first year
@TheArtofAdulting MS 50 year old has Primary progressive. So we are now 3/4 mile from a major hospital. I did find us a lovely apartment with a fabulous patio to grow what I can grow. I hope your 4 acre adventure has gone well this year.
I am so attracted to homesteading. I got very serious about my garden this past year and I’m so ready to do more! Im going to try my hand at composting and hopefully some animals in the future.
You’re so knowledgeable and I loved the step by step process of finding what works for your own family. I can’t wait to watch more videos. Subscribed! ❤❤
OMG I love this video!! We bought in late 2020 so this is my 2nd season. I'm nervous about using the ground so everything is raise bed and containers but I want to go BIG next year.
I love this video. I can live vicariously through your sharing with out lifting a finger. I want to share that my dad was the 4th generation to live on the family homestead in Iowa. He grew up in the Depression and his father still made money. They had everything the needed in place with family support. After WWII when I was born my dad really missed the farm. But Grandpa was renting the farm out - he had not yet been diagnosed with the disease I inherited from him. My point it that he did not have the energy to keep crops goings. So my dad rented an average. He moved us out to the country when I was 5 and used to an indoor flush toilet. I hated the outhouse. The kitchen and bathroom did have fixtures and a drain pipe, but we had to go outside to hand pump water, heat it up on the stove then carry water upstairs to the tub. We gardened and raised foul. We had coal furnace that only heated down stairs. Ther was barely electiricy for a hanging light bulb. My five years on the farm is what I think of as oof -grid. I am grateful for my flush toilet. Many of my class mates had now running water and electricity into the 1970's +. My family's homestead was really OFF grid like my great- great grandparents did before Iowa was a state. I know that living that way is too hard for an old bird. Tho' it has been decades I still know when someone is dishing up baloney. So thank you for bein so transparent. I means a lot to me.
everything well presented, film, topics, speach...many items to think about before jumping into a homestead life and the many skills that may need to be developed to succeed..Thanks.
added thought..goat pellets make some of the best liquid compost teas....as they will eat a vast variety of plants, there are many nutrients that past through their body systems and are good for a garden/ soils.....
Thank you for the information! ❤ My husband and I have been looking into possibly homesteading and I feel like this video helped us get a better idea of getting started
Lovely, your story telling with your family and place in the background and presentation is amazing. Makes me dreaming of homesteading...I am wondering though where is this place..
@@HillsideHomesteading You are correct. Something like fence, coop even a barn if needed is an investment that will last years and well worth it in the long run. Also on a personal note, respect for replying on a video you made a year ago.
I just commented on your video about being sued by Doug and Stacy. I'm glad you are being honest about how you gotta have money to do a lot of this stuff and I'm glad you are telling people the truth. If we all just had a garden that would be a little better
Yes, I lived in an apartment but I always rented from places that allow pets or at least a cat, If you can have a cat you can have 'pet bunnies' or a 'pet bird'
"No one is an expert, everyone is always learning" that was well said!

Sounds like an excellent plan. Start with a few hens for eggs and go from there. Good luck!

Very well thought out. So true!

Just starting is so easy! Focus on easing into it a little at a time.
A lil bit at a time and before you know it you’ll be busy with farm chores daily 😆
You make me feel soo much better about it all!
Gotta start somewhere even if it's small

Never thought of that excellent advice thank you
Thank you for this. Never thought of renting a farm 🫶🏾

Thank you so much!
Thank you 😊 you clarified so much
You are correct about fencing, I was shocked how much it cost us just for a chicken run and rabbit colony.
Right, nothing about farming is cheap but it’s worth the investment for the more important things.

only problem with animals in apartments, most apartment complexes forbid any type of farm animal, including rabbits.

You eat “pet bunnies” while living in an apartment, good LORD have mercy?!
Your awesome love your channel
Thank you! 🙏
Some people think that us who homestead are poor people. I think they are going to find out just how rich a homesteader is.
Most are wealthier than people think
There no place like home. " Where your family can come enjoy the experience the culture of Homestead" History does repeat it's self!.
Shared.
Have you looked into freeze drying?
Yes, however freeze dryers are costly and I don’t foresee using it enough to justify the cost
As someone from Idaho life's goal is jusus and a homestead lmao
God speed 🙏
❤❤❤❤
