    I use ramps to get under the truck better, but when doing that, when you pull the drain plug, it really hits that sway bar even more! I discovered by leaving the filler cap in when opening the drain plug it manages the flow better, once the flow slows, then I open the filler cap. Was a hell of a mess that first time!

      That is great advice for people who use ramps! I'll pin this to the top so others know:)

      Had mine on ramps and it hit that sway bar and sprayed the whole garage floor. Never seen something like that before haha.

    Great video! I see she ran oil life all the way down to 0% id recommended only using 50-60% of the “oil life” turbos cook oil, and I personally wouldn’t go over 5000-6000 miles, even with full synthetic on an ecoboost engine. Change earlier, or run something like Mobil Extended or Castrol Edge Extended if you’re going to go all 10k miles. Thanks for the video!

    Quick tip. Before you try to install the small O-ring, slide it over a needle nose pliers. you can then pre stretch it. makes install easier. Also, for me it was a good idea to install the new filter in the housing before struggling with the small O-ring. I didn't my first oil change and inadvertently put side pressure on the shaft and snapped it clean off. This resulted in a day of driving all over Minnesota to find a dealership with a new 2.7 ecoboost oil filter housing in stock. I guess with age and heat they can get brittle. Great video!

      That's a good tip. Will have to try that.

    Do not use the trucks oil change intervals I change mine when it's at 30% and it's around 5,000 miles give or take oil is dark at that pointuse ronin factory oil drain plug attached a airline hose works great no mess🙂

      Do you have a 2.7 as well? I just got one and noticed I hear the turbos blowing air. Do you hear the turbos spooling in yours or maybe I have a loose hose connection. I hear the blow off when I let go of the gas too.

    Just did my first change on my 2.7l, had about 6K miles oil meter was at 35%. Need to find a better way to catch the oil from the drain plug maybe a kiddie pool would be best. I tried to use an old 1 gallon washer fluid bottle, cutting off one side so the oil would be directed down into my catch pan and not back toward the rear, it helped but not enough room will try something else next.

    Make sure you drain every bit of oil in the crankcase,otherwise 6qts will overfill it

    Looking at getting an f-150 2.7 or a 2.7 Silverado.
    After watching this: Removing the plastic shroud, and the o-rings on the filter, are big points against for me 🤔. You having to cut the camera to put on the tiny o-ring got me worried haha!
    thanks for the Vid! 👍

    Good video , unless that smaller o ring is damaged id just leave it on there no sense replacing it every time .

      @Jimmy2Tech  3 роки тому

      Since it comes with the kit, we figured why not just replace it. It just takes a moment, unless your hands are oily haha.

    Is this the same for the 2020 f150 3.5? By same I mean the oil filter is in the same location and same plug? I’m afraid to change my own oil but this video helped a ton!

    Any chance you could drop a link for the O ring on the oil plug?

    • @Jimmy2Tech
      @Jimmy2Tech  3 роки тому

      Hello David,
      Ford does not carry just the O-ring from what they told me. For 14 bucks you can get 3 new drain plugs on Amazon amzn.to/3lCeCan
      Or if you want a Ford original part you can get one from a place like Varsity Ford online tinyurl.com/ydoujp6d. Hope this helps.
