    Bro that is a great video. I took my 2021 F150 2.7 in just today, and with a discount of $12.50, I still paid $92.00. For a freakin' oil change. I am doing it myself from now on. I will get everything you used in this video. Great pan and very cool plug. I appreciate your detailed explanation.

      Wow that’s a pricey oil change. I take mine to a local shop, 6 qts of semi syn oil and filter & lube for $39, tax and shop supply’s included. It’s tough to buy the oil and filter for that price. I have it changed about every 2500 mi as I don’t drive much in a yrs time. Otherwise it would be changed at 4000 mi intervals if I drove more

    That drain plug is definitely nice and pretty, but I prefer the oil to rush out. Oil rushing out will pick up any type of settlement at the bottom of your pan. A little oil on my hands never bothers me.

    • @mexifry222
      @mexifry222 11 місяців тому +7

      The good part of the ronin is that it has a magnetic end on the inside which collects any shavings.
      Plus your filter should be cleaning the oil for any non medal sediment.

    • @pathunter7003
      @pathunter7003 7 місяців тому +3

      The plug isn’t on the bottom of the pan so there is about a 1/2” at the bottom of the pan to the drain. So I would think if there was any sediment it would still be laying on the bottom of the pan and not getting “flushed” out

    I have one of these and love it, but I did learn that leaving the filler cap in when opening the drain slowed the flow coming out just a bit, after it slows then I would remove the fill cap . But this Ronin still let’s the flow come out very quickly, just better managed if you use a hose the way it is shown here

    When I take that access panel off I only remove 3 of the 8 mm bolts. Then I loosen the 4th bolt ( rear passenger side bolt ) . That lets me rotate the panel out of my way. When it's time to put it back on I just rotate it back into position and the other 3 holes line right up. Also I use a cordless drill with a 1/4 inch driver with a 8mm socket on it. Good video.

    I had an oil pan like that, but the cap did not stay on well it leaked if it was lying flat now i just use a big square transmission funnel with a mesh pad in it on top of a regular oil pan. makes it hard to miss and does not splash.
    then dump it in a heavy duty 5-gallon jug from tractor supply.

    Great job dude! I love that drain plug,definitely will be looking in to one.. and, with that skid plate, that’s underneath,try leaving the one bolt in tours Passenger side back. Just leave that one screw in loosely and then you can just move the whole thing out of your way without taking it completely down. It makes it a lot easier when reinstalling. That’s usually how I do it.peace!..I have that same funnel. I actually won that funnel at a golf tournament.Thats funny! .

    My only concern with the fancy Ronan plug is if you go to a service bay instead of DIY. Assume they may not have the special adapter to drain. As an owner I would not bring that device with me if traveling away from home.

    That drain pan was a great purchase. After 30 years of changing my oil and transferring/spilling I bought one. I have a 2018 and don’t know that the Ronin will fit behind that cross member. The stock plug, if you crack it and just hold it in the opening the oil will flow down vertically. But you have to hold it the entire time.

    Should wait after shut down 15 minutes minimum before checking the level (it is mentioned in the manual). The engine is designed to drain slowly from the upper end. My own 2.7 takes near 1/2 an hour to finish draining.

    The only problem with these valves is, the pan is a side drain hole instead of bottom hole, so the inside lip of the ronnin keeps the bottom 2 ounces from coming out.
    Those bottom 2 ounces are where most of the sludge will build up.
