A story about the 1% of guys. Most of us understand exactly what that means. But we're stuck with a mental problem, something in our psyche that doesn't allow us to be like the anime character. In real life, in humanity, even with the right conditions, it's impossible to love ourselves again when others can't love us.

They exist, but they are not "real" to him. They are just random shells, with no personal or emotional connection, because he shut off those emotions. when he finally accepted himself and let go of his guilt and fear, that defense of not seeing others as people dropped, and he was finally able to see people for what they are. -People- and not just faceless shells.
yep when i saw it i was going through a lot so i knew how exactly how he felt i didn't look people in the face i still kind of don't but im slowly doing it this movie broke me i couldn't stop crying but it's one of my all time favorite movies 🥹🥹when im having a hard time i come back and watch it ❤ as a gentle reminder to be kind to myself
As someone who also wants to see romance from them, I was curious on how they will handle the redemption part of the former bully making amends with his victim. I really hate it when people criticize the "lack of romance" in the film and especially the part where Ishida misheards Nishimiya's confession. There were some hints in the movie about their secret romantic feelings for each other such as the scene where Ishida is wondering what Nishimiya thinks of him. Besides the difficulty in understanding people who have problems with communication, why would Ishida hope to be loved by Nishimiya after all the bullying he had done to her in the past, especially since he is only starting to correct his mistakes at that point? The film is more subtle in its portrayal of its messages and other details. Even though he was only starting to make amends, that in my opinion solidifies the fact that Ishida did feel truly sorry for his actions. He is still by far my favorite character that underwent redemption.
I like how Ishida shoya expressed his feeling... Somehow I heard "I love you" when he said to Nishimiya Shoko "I want you to help me live" when they met at the bridge in the middle of the night. They like each other though even this entire story doesn't focus on 'love'.... Am I wrong?
Spoiler: I've read the manga. Ishida and Nishimiya went to their elementary school reunion. And then you can see that they're holding hands. Maybe they are actually *hem hem* together *hem hem*
IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS MOVIE, WATCH IT. IT IS A MASTERPIECE. Unfortunately this movie got smashed back in popularity because of Your Name, which I'm not saying it wasn't deserved, but Koe no Katachi is still a fantastic movie that kinda ran under a lot of peoples' radar.
Dorraj your name really deserved it both of these movies are on par both their plot is great! they both are beautiful movies... and as for the radar part just wait its gonna be as famous as your name. movies like these only come once a decade like spirited away wolf children etc. these two movies changed my life... they opened my eyes
If you thought the movie was a masterpiece you should DEFINITELY!!!!!! read the manga, it's even better in terms of plot/character development as there is a shit ton more of both of them which was cut out in the movie adaptation, but indeed this movie was very good.. not quite as good as the manga though because of the mentioned missing character/plot development that i feel they kind of needed to tell the story to it's fullest, and i have never seen Your Name, i'm sure i will love it though i am 98.9% sure i won't like it as much as A Silent Voice.. i fucking love Shouko, Shouya and Yuzuru.. and the story over all is fucking beautiful (although more beautiful in the manga version, but the movie has this amazing music so it almost makes up for it :D).
I'm sure it is better in the Manga, and (I never read manga/light novels) I actually plan to read this one. I hate reading beforehand because I get more emotionally invested in characters if I can see them move and hear them talk, and I know if I read the source material first, I'll see how it's not as good. So I'm gonna read it after :) Also, the way I like to say it is, Kimi no Na wa is a more *interesting* movie. Koe no Katachi is a more *emotional* movie. Even though Your Name get's pretty emotional, when it comes to that, Koe no Katachi blows it out of the way. (IMO)
Have you ever read a series before watching it? for me i feel just as attached to characters whether i read it or watch it, especially with series like this because compared to the anime the characters actually do a lot more for you to get more attached to them, i usually prefer to read 1st because you get the full story in 1 package where as anime adaptations often leave a lot out, and yes there is no movement or talking but i always watch a little of the anime 1st to hear what everyone sounds like then i know what to imagine, i couldn't with this though because i read it WAY before the movie was made, you might not love the manga as much as i did (although i can guarantee that you will love it) because you don't like to read plus you already spoiled everything that was going to happen by watching the movie 1st, where as if you read it 1st you would have gotten all the character/plot development that i mentioned to build up the emotions a lot more, but whatever man i respect if you prefer to watch anime over read manga/light novels, it's all up to personal taste at the end of the day :), i like to always read the source material beforehand and you don't and that's perfectly fine, at least you still experienced this story in 1 way or another which is good because this is one of my favorites of all time (more so the manga) and you're still going to read it which is great, i would recommend buying it physically though as reading off screens is no where near as nice of an experience as reading from a page, it hurts my eyes and makes me take ages just to read 1 page and it's just no where near as immersive, plus you're supporting the series by doing so and this masterpiece needs support!, i do agree with you though about how reading it 1st makes you see the flaws of the anime adaptations but to me i would much rather see flaws in the adaptations then have my experience with the manga tarnished by spoilers that i got from a very rushed version of the same story, of course that depends on the series though, series like Death Note is almost exactly the same from the manga to the anime, but then series like Welcome To The NHK (which you should DEFINITELY! watch if you haven't) that is actually very different from the light novel to the manga to the anime, NHK's 3 different versions are almost like 3 different stories as loads of things happen differently and one of the main characters act very differently from the manga to the anime, NHK is the only series i'm actually happy that i watched it 1st because it was so different and it didn't spoil much from the manga at all, and okay Your Name sounds cool! although i think you would find Koe No Katachi more interesting in the manga though because more happens but yes i'm sure Your Name would still be more "interesting" but it depends on the person, i usually always prefer really realistic normal stories over magicalish ones, sorry for typing a huge wall of text haha :).

I feel the same way. That’s why although I love the soundtrack I don’t always want to hear the last part. Otherwise I know I’m just going to keep repeating again and again in my head and sure to cry thanks to its uplifting tone, but also sad emotional beauty leaping to genuine hope for the future. It is a masterpiece the unravels you and puts you back together again as what you feel is a new person.❤️
For those who you don't know what is shown in the manga, let me break it down for you: - Ishida had more backstory with his 2 childhood friends - More siblings story (now and past) between Nishimiya and her sister - Nishimaya became suicidal since her childhood, and his sister aware of it - Nishimiya's sister tooks photos of dead animals/insects to show Nishimiya that it is bad to be death - The group made a movie project (the movie has a HUGE part in the manga story) - More back story/character development for every person in the group (there is an entire chapter that filled with the back stories of every person of the group, including Ishida and Nishimiya) - Ueno had a crush to Ishida since childhood, that's why she always mad and became jealous to Nishimiya - Ishida and his 2 childhood friends will get along in the end - The manga ends with Ishida holding Nishimiya's hand when they are about to enter the reunion hall of their school friends
@@wesleymango2712 Kimi no Nawa was a comedic-romantic movie, it didn't show as much as a message as Koe no Katachi did. I honestly think that Kimi no Nawa was made to get non-anime viewers into it and still making them glad, that's why I kinda look at it like hollow. I had to see Koe no Katachi 3 times to understand clearly the meaning and message it wanted to express, and I gotta say I'm not a pussy-ass like most of the people but this particular movie gets me emotional, even watching it the 3rd time. On popularity Kimi no Nawa was better, but Koe no Katachi was definitely a better movie.
@@JGlez14 It was a great movie, but to me it felt like it was missing something. If they were both equally as popular I'd still like kimi no nawa better. There's a reason why it's so well recieced. Yes koe no katachi had a deeper meaning behind it, however; a constantly engaging plot, beautiful visuals, and bittersweet romance does it for me. Maybe because I watched kimi no nawa first, I subconsciously compared it to koe no katachi while watching it; making it seem more dry in areas where kimi no nawa eccels. Anyways, movies are completely subjective and different ones can reach different people on personal levels.
I think that ishida liked her since elementary school but he was scared that they'd call him weird so he tried to suppress his feelings towards her by bullying her.
my story. the movie a silent voice saved my life. before watching it i tried to [you know] 2-3 times, then seeing the emotion put into the animation and the scene where shouko tried to jump and how shoya reacted and stumbed made me realise there was more to life and how people can really care for you and how life can be beautiful. not just from how you do it, but how others can change it aswell. the look in his eyes as he stumbled towards shouko really hit me deep inside my heart. this movie should deserve every ounce of respect from everyone. thank you for reading

you should read the manga, the movie is indeed incomplete, a lot of stuff happens after and one big part of the entire story is missing. (a sub plot) But still they really succeed in bringing the feels of the manga into the anime :)

When the killing part played.... I suddenly remembered 3rd grade when I first had a friend... It was 3rd grade when I started to have a true friend... I felt so loved and felt happiness overflowing.... But as I developed bad habits and attitude.... I could see him walking away and turning their backs on me in my dreams and when I kind of space out a bit....... A year have passed and I started having fake friends... We would talk about people behind their backs, even my best friend. And by that, he became a laughing stock, an outcast .... When he would look at me with those disappointed eyes, I felt so miserable... But I ignored the fact that he needed my helping hand at that time.... A month passed and I got news from my mom that he broke his arm from playing basketball with his cousins. I felt really terrible....the next day... I saw him having a sling on his arm... I wanted to ask him if He was okay, and so, I asked him.. I could see happiness through his eyes because I asked him..... his bestfriend, a guy that he can rely on..... We became friends again, but I still wanted to fit in and so, I still talk a bit about him behind his back but I really didn't mean those words... On 5th grade... He became friends with the boys in our class... He changed... He became braver than he was before.... When he would walked passed me.... he would just say his greetings and go.... On 6th grade, I transferred schools and made new friends... This time, true friends. But the friendship that we had was never enough. I have totally moved on about our friendship after a while, but listening to this cover of LIT.... made me remember our good times as best friends together.... But in the end of the song.. I would imagine the thought of him turning his back on me....

I invited my dad and sister to watch this movie in 2017. My dad never watched anime, but he loved it. I lost my dad last year. And I really miss him. I just cried listening to this, because it reminded me of that moment when I just showed him something that I liked and he liked it too. I just want to go back in time at that same very moment to watch this movie for the first time again.

2:23 Nishimiya's smile is the brightest smile I've ever seen in my entire life of watching anime (I've just watched "A silent voice" lately. I do avoid or rarely such drama movies like this as it always hits me hard to the point that I can't easily move on). I do hope that people may be able to wear the smile that Shouko had and be genuinely happy despite any struggles you're currently facing❤️❤️
I love how it’s literally the same melody throughout. It’s so simply beautiful. In the beginning, it hardly has anything to it, but later on, it’s a sweeping, powerful orchestral piece. It symbolizes that life can be so quiet, dull, and black and white. But if you just open your eyes, it can be loud, lively, and colorful. That’s one of the big themes shown in the movie/manga, I think. You did a great job at capturing that. It really means a lot to me.

I just watched this movie last week and I can say one thing....watch it! It's definitely worth it! The story is gorgeous and the atmosphere of the feelings are amazing.

Also, the way I like to say it is, Kimi no Na wa is a more *interesting* movie. Koe no Katachi is a more *emotional* movie. Even though Your Name get's pretty emotional, when it comes to that, Koe no Katachi blows it out of the way. (IMO)
Have you ever read a series before watching it? for me i feel just as attached to characters whether i read it or watch it, especially with series like this because compared to the anime the characters actually do a lot more for you to get more attached to them, i usually prefer to read 1st because you get the full story in 1 package where as anime adaptations often leave a lot out, and yes there is no movement or talking but i always watch a little of the anime 1st to hear what everyone sounds like then i know what to imagine, i couldn't with this though because i read it WAY before the movie was made, you might not love the manga as much as i did (although i can guarantee that you will love it) because you don't like to read plus you already spoiled everything that was going to happen by watching the movie 1st, where as if you read it 1st you would have gotten all the character/plot development that i mentioned to build up the emotions a lot more, but whatever man i respect if you prefer to watch anime over read manga/light novels, it's all up to personal taste at the end of the day :), i like to always read the source material beforehand and you don't and that's perfectly fine, at least you still experienced this story in 1 way or another which is good because this is one of my favorites of all time (more so the manga) and you're still going to read it which is great, i would recommend buying it physically though as reading off screens is no where near as nice of an experience as reading from a page, it hurts my eyes and makes me take ages just to read 1 page and it's just no where near as immersive, plus you're supporting the series by doing so and this masterpiece needs support!, i do agree with you though about how reading it 1st makes you see the flaws of the anime adaptations but to me i would much rather see flaws in the adaptations then have my experience with the manga tarnished by spoilers that i got from a very rushed version of the same story, of course that depends on the series though, series like Death Note is almost exactly the same from the manga to the anime, but then series like Welcome To The NHK (which you should DEFINITELY! watch if you haven't) that is actually very different from the light novel to the manga to the anime, NHK's 3 different versions are almost like 3 different stories as loads of things happen differently and one of the main characters act very differently from the manga to the anime, NHK is the only series i'm actually happy that i watched it 1st because it was so different and it didn't spoil much from the manga at all, and okay Your Name sounds cool! although i think you would find Koe No Katachi more interesting in the manga though because more happens but yes i'm sure Your Name would still be more "interesting" but it depends on the person, i usually always prefer really realistic normal stories over magicalish ones, sorry for typing a huge wall of text haha :).
with headphones it just hits different. everything comes together, like a puzzle piece, it just unravels memories that weren’t supposed to be made or seen, yet here i am, being unraveled by the darkest yet lightest memories i’ve made through life. every pound on the piano, every sound it makes, it just unravels it. it made me realize that only if we stayed best friends we wouldve been better as that, haha. his eyes and personality were perfect, humorous and plays with children. perfect i would say. perfect...

I feel the same way. That’s why although I love the soundtrack I don’t always want to hear the last part. Otherwise I know I’m just going to keep repeating again and again in my head and sure to cry thanks to its uplifting tone, but also sad emotional beauty leaping to genuine hope for the future. It is a masterpiece the unravels you and puts you back together again as what you feel is a new person.❤️
For those who you don't know what is shown in the manga, let me break it down for you:
- Ishida had more backstory with his 2 childhood friends
- More siblings story (now and past) between Nishimiya and her sister
- Nishimaya became suicidal since her childhood, and his sister aware of it
- Nishimiya's sister tooks photos of dead animals/insects to show Nishimiya that it is bad to be death
- The group made a movie project (the movie has a HUGE part in the manga story)
- More back story/character development for every person in the group (there is an entire chapter that filled with the back stories of every person of the group, including Ishida and Nishimiya)
- Ueno had a crush to Ishida since childhood, that's why she always mad and became jealous to Nishimiya
- Ishida and his 2 childhood friends will get along in the end
- The manga ends with Ishida holding Nishimiya's hand when they are about to enter the reunion hall of their school friends

I honestly think that Kimi no Nawa was made to get non-anime viewers into it and still making them glad, that's why I kinda look at it like hollow.
I had to see Koe no Katachi 3 times to understand clearly the meaning and message it wanted to express, and I gotta say I'm not a pussy-ass like most of the people but this particular movie gets me emotional, even watching it the 3rd time.
On popularity Kimi no Nawa was better, but Koe no Katachi was definitely a better movie.

Yes koe no katachi had a deeper meaning behind it, however; a constantly engaging plot, beautiful visuals, and bittersweet romance does it for me. Maybe because I watched kimi no nawa first, I subconsciously compared it to koe no katachi while watching it; making it seem more dry in areas where kimi no nawa eccels. Anyways, movies are completely subjective and different ones can reach different people on personal levels.

the movie a silent voice saved my life. before watching it i tried to [you know] 2-3 times, then seeing the emotion put into the animation and the scene where shouko tried to jump and how shoya reacted and stumbed made me realise there was more to life and how people can really care for you and how life can be beautiful. not just from how you do it, but how others can change it aswell. the look in his eyes as he stumbled towards shouko really hit me deep inside my heart. this movie should deserve every ounce of respect from everyone. thank you for reading

When the killing part played.... I suddenly remembered 3rd grade when I first had a friend... It was 3rd grade when I started to have a true friend... I felt so loved and felt happiness overflowing.... But as I developed bad habits and attitude.... I could see him walking away and turning their backs on me in my dreams and when I kind of space out a bit.......
A year have passed and I started having fake friends... We would talk about people behind their backs, even my best friend. And by that, he became a laughing stock, an outcast .... A month passed and I got news from my mom that he broke his arm from playing basketball with his cousins. I felt really terrible....the next day... I saw him having a sling on his arm... I wanted to ask him if He was okay, and so, I asked him.. I could see happiness through his eyes because I asked him..... his bestfriend, a guy that he can rely on..... We became friends again, but I still wanted to fit in and so, I still talk a bit about him behind his back but I really didn't mean those words...
On 5th grade... He became friends with the boys in our class... He changed... He became braver than he was before.... When he would walked passed me.... he would just say his greetings and go....
On 6th grade, I transferred schools and made new friends... This time, true friends. But the friendship that we had was never enough. I have totally moved on about our friendship after a while, but listening to this cover of LIT.... made me remember our good times as best friends together.... But in the end of the song.. 2:23 Nishimiya's smile is the brightest smile I've ever seen in my entire life of watching anime (I've just watched "A silent voice" lately. I do avoid or rarely such drama movies like this as it always hits me hard to the point that I can't easily move on). This movie deserves an Oscar
It's just so beautiful.
I love how it’s literally the same melody throughout. It’s so simply beautiful. In the beginning, it hardly has anything to it, but later on, it’s a sweeping, powerful orchestral piece. It symbolizes that life can be so quiet, dull, and black and white. But if you just open your eyes, it can be loud, lively, and colorful. That’s one of the big themes shown in the movie/manga, I think. You did a great job at capturing that. It really means a lot to me.
