National Week of Healing in Washington
Begun in Washington, DC, the National Week of Healing exists to address the burnout experienced by grassroots and social justice organizing groups and to provide a space for healing, particularly for those working in violence prevention and intervention.
Those of us in this work often face burnout due to the demanding nature of this work. Experiencing trauma due to this work can lead to secondary traumatic stress and burnout, leaving our violence interrupters, healers, community organizers, and service providers with less emotional and mental capacity to do the work to the best of their ability.
Our aim is to create a collective healing experience that addresses burnout and fosters community resilience.
It is critical that we collaborate in each space without duplicating our requests for scarce community resources. We encourage organizers in every city to come together and share a central location for each event. If you'd like to submit a healing event for the calendar, follow the link below.
