    One of my all time favorites. When I was 17 ,.I had an original from the war that was brought back . It was so old the leather was brittle exposing the wood on the inside me but the knife was perfect and strong. It was about 12 to 14 in. Long engravings on handle ,I went to jail for 2 years for DWI , when I got home it was gone off my dresser , MOM WHERES MY DAM KUKRI AT ? I dont know your brother came by , said he was going fishing and wanted to Barrow one of your knifes acouple months ago. I was pissed . But I cant woop him hes a badass. So I had to eat that one . I'm still sick over that. It had all the lines in the blade that followed the curves, was beautiful. I ok now him they liked throwing knifes at trees alot back then . I bet it either broke or missed the tree and went in the river or back in the tall weeds. But no tellin...

    Great work! I wish I could find more videos of forging kukri's. I have watch some of the Nepalese smiths who put in the bend first then shape and thin. My disclaimer: I'm not a smith. I have dabbled, but that doesn't make me a smith. I just wanted to share what I've seen the OG's do. Love your end product! Has a very FAFO style to it. Keep up the work, brother!

    Awesome job! The testing scenes in the woods were really cool too.

    Well made Phil, that takes skill not to warp or crack during quench and heat treating. Keep doing what you do, I will look forward to order a custom made knife from you, hope during this summer but time will tell.

    Is the Kalamazoo grinder worth the price? And better options? A fucina forge 1x30? Ebay grinder?

    Another awesome build, Phil! Have you considered Applying for Forged In Fire? I’m confident you have all the necessary skills to crush that show! You, sir, are a badass!

      Thanks Ben! They've sent me a casting email a couple times, but the truth is I don't think my skill (especially at different forge welding techniques) is on par with other contestants.

    You keep making new knives that I want to buy. I can only afford 1 but there's now 4 that I'm trying to decide between.
    Hopefully I can make up my mind soon, it looks like you need new pants.

    Fish mouth is a sign of a rookie. Nice looking blade, though.

      I've always claimed to be a beginner. But it doesn't help that the broken end of the spring that I used for the point was already a fish mouth shape before I started forging. Thanks for watching!

    what was the temperature on the blade before you quench it ?

    • @PhilBaumhardt
      @PhilBaumhardt  4 роки тому

      It was hot enough that the magnet was not attracted to it, so at that cherry red heat should have been around 1475 degrees F.
