Zerator also created the ZEvent, which is a charity event where France's most famous streamers gather in a room to play video games over a week end. Viewers can gift money to reach donation goals (some streamers do really crazy shit!), and all revenue is gifted to a charity. Last ZEvent, 10 million dollars were collected for "Action contre la faim" (Action Against Hunger), which to this day still is the world record for a charity stream! This man literally saves lives! He's a legend!
France has the best Twitch Streamers of the world. Just look at the events, the pixel war etc. It's so impresive to see the interactions between streamers and spectators. Lot of mutual respect
I think what many people here tend to forget is that the ZrT Cup is first and foremost *entertainment for Zerator's viewers*, not a competition that takes itself seriously (hence the low cashprize, hence the weird rounds like the mini car racing track and the round using a plane joystick). I'm willing to bet anything that 90% of the audience + viewership don't really care about Trackmania the rest of the year (and a significant part has never even played the game), they're just here once a year for a good show created by Zerator and that's it. Zerator always organizes a lot of big, fun events during the year (the ZrT Cup being one of them) and that's why so many watch the ZrT Cup every year. That's what Zerator does best and likes the most, organizing fun events for his audience, and the ZrT Cup is just one of many. I'm sorry to all the foreign Trackmania fans here but you're just not the target audience for the ZrT Cup 😟 Hence why Zerator deemed it not worth it to cast the event in English. Also, he said this would be the last edition *with this format*, but he likes Trackmania so he's not done with the game yet. His team and he will work on something new now, because they don't want it to drag on for too long and they feel like after 10 years of ZrT Cups, it's a good time to put a conclusion to this journey and come up with something new. I hope this clears some things up!
You're right, Zerator's goal is to create a French gaming comunity oriented towards having fun. This seems normal when you play games, but most "players" of most "games" don't "play", they "work", they don't have fun, they are extremely serious. And this event is by far not Zerator's biggest event. His biggest event is the Z event, the biggest charity event based on gaming & streaming in the world, fully in French and solely oriented towards the French community.
Attending this event made for the most fun weekend I've had in years, also by meeting so many people from the community 😄 I didn't know you were there as well, I would've love to meet you and your propeller hat 😁
Hi ! Thank you so much for making me discover the Zerator Cup ! :D By the way, if you were wondering why so many people wore a "ZEvent" t-shirt, it's a charity event also organized by Zerator, which brings multiple streamers together to raise money for charity. The event lasts 3 days and these t-shirts are buyable during the event to help gathering money. Each year, the ZEvent doubles the amount of money collected and sets new records, with 5 millions € raised in 2020 and 10 millions in 2021. In only 3 days ! :) It's true that French people are often criticized for multiple reasons, for their lack of English vocabulary or their shitty personnality, so I hope you spent a nice trip in France and maybe have a different mindset about the french community ! :)
I literally just heard about this event, as of posting, and the engine off part of the track was amazing.
