    I had severe spinal stenosis and ended up having to get surgery. Problem was that given I was self-funded, I really do have no $ left to get physio (although based upon this video at least I'm doing half of the tips). I hadn't given any thought to my abs, so thank you. Although I am a little limited due to rods and bone fusion, hopefully I can put your tips to good use.
    Thank you so much for compiling these videos. You really do help lots of people around the world.

    Nice video, going to start watching this a lot since I have spinal stenosis, spondy & scoliosis, I am a 69 year old auto mechanic that still runs a shop for now and looking for some relief. P/T is also helping. I don't see the link for the spiked ball kit? I may want to try that.
    thanks!

    I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis a few years ago (44yrs old) I had ALIF surgery, two years later I’m still struggling.
    My doctor gave me a muscle relaxer to use when my lower back muscles begin to feel like they’re locking up, and said to freeze my lower back before going to bed.
    My PT thinks I have a pretty severe case of arthritis.
    And, my trainer has focused my exercise on core strength which was completely lost following my surgery. I drink lots of water throughout the day but, my doctor said to be careful because my sodium level is consistently low.
    I really hope to get back to normal again.

    I just found out your channel and the information you share is very helpful, but watching this video a question popped up- how do you tell if the sciatica pain is caused by the stenosis or by another problem in the lower back?! I have stenosis and disc herniations and spurs...

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 місяці тому

      Hi Katterina, we are so sorry to see that you are dealing with painful sciatica due to stenosis, disc herniation, and spurs. We know how relentless the pain can be and we hope you feel better soon. There is no way to tell where it's coming from unless we were to do a proper evaluation but based on the information is it very possible that the sciatica pain you are experiencing is coming from your lower back issues. We encourage you to discuss this with your primary healthcare provider to determine where it is coming from.
      If that is not an option, we would recommend trying out our lumbar stenosis playlist first to see if it can offer any relief. Start with one or two exercises, beginning with the smallest range of motion and the lowest intensity. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. Aim to tire out the muscle without losing form or control. Consistency is key. Always avoid working through pain; soreness and mild discomfort are normal, but pain is not.
      If that did help we would recommend a Virtual Consultation, which would give you the opportunity to discuss your situation with one of our experts. Our Virtual Consultations are conducted similarly to a Zoom call, and we will send you a link that will automatically connect you with one of our doctors. This consultation will allow us to gain a better understanding of your condition, discuss your medical history, and provide personalized guidance tailored to your needs.
      Once you have purchased the Virtual Consultation, we recommend sending us an email with your questions, any records you would like to discuss, and a brief description of your medical history at least 24 hours before your appointment. This will help us prepare and ensure we can address all your concerns during the session. Please refrain from sending this information before purchasing for security purposes.
      After your Virtual Consultation, you will receive a recording of the session, and you will have 30 days from the date of the consultation to ask any follow-up questions regarding your session. You can email us your questions, and our doctors will get back to you at their earliest convenience.
      Once you purchase your consultation, our scheduling coordinator will contact you to find out the best time and date that works for your appointment.

      We hope this information was helpful. Please take care!

    Let me ask you something Doc. People born with dwarfism can run into back trouble. There is a common form of dwarfism called "achondroplasia." It has been said that the spaces in their spine are not as large as normal and so they run into back trouble. There is also the belief that they are unique; and therapy like you do may not apply to them. My brother-in-law is a "Little Person" and has spinal stenosis (and drop foot). Is there anything you could/would say to him about using or adapting your advice? This will help me as well as him. Thank you.

    What about sleeping on your bag with knees bent (like a pillow or wedge under knees)?

      I also want to know if this helps, as i have a bulging disc and stenosis, but the pain on the buttock area when on my back is excruciating but i want to sleep on my back without pain 😭

    I have a bulging disc L5 and stenosis, right side numb, walking is painful due to the calf muscle and the nerve pulls? Also the under buttock area i feel i cannot open my right hip whilst on my side and i cannot bend on that leg as i feel a very thick tight pull under the thigh and back of knee and it does not allow for me to put pressure there, sleeping on my left side due to right side pains is making my left get in more pain
    Is there anything i can do for the calf muscle/nerve and under knee so i can walk and kneel on my right side ?

    Uhm so you are saying to drink A GALLON of water per day??

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 місяці тому

      Hey Ryan! Drinking a gallon of water a day can be very difficult. Depending on your body weight, that may be the recommended amount. Getting as close as you can would definitely be helpful for the lumbar discs.
