I have been putting a ton of time into this game the last few weeks since coming back. So much to do! I am going to test streaming on twitch tonight, so stop by!
I kinda liked how the game was when it 1st came out. It felt like an infinite adventure. Now with every region having different resources. It feel like a struggle to play cause you never have the right resources no matter where you are.
I think the reason why not many people play this is because a lot of players saw that it took the wrong path like you said, and they stopped playing and wrote a negative review. Even though the game is much better now and most of those reviews are irrelevant, they are still there and it scares off new people. The devs ask frequently to reconsider reviews but it's still a problem. People also hold on to grudges too much in stead of giving it a second chance. If they were to look at the game with fresh eyes so to say, they would love it i'm sure.
I think the reason why very little people are playing this game is because there were so many unnecessary changes to the game like taking away fun progression bits like the sewing kit and making many tools and items useless like the iron chisel, spinning wheel, and stone mortar. They also lock recipes behind coyns and you have to buy them in the shop. Even if you buy the recipies in the shop they aren’t available outside exploration mode like in other survival servers. Overall, a lot of changes were made and every major update changes mechanics in the game that are abrupt and and inconvenient.
Thanks for the comment. I was going to install this and try it out but just knowing there are recipes locked behind a pay wall is enough for me to give it a pass. I would be absolutely fine purchasing the additional biomes, but locking and pay wall-ing things like recipes is where i draw the line and don't want to support that type of monetization.
One thing regarding the DLC, you can still unlock each region the free way by collecting a bunch of resources and exploration points. It takes a very long time but it's doable. Otherwise the DLC is 50% off at the moment so there's that. That random text is a known bug, the devs are working on it so hopefully it'll be patched out soon.
I'm 20 now and I'm not an adult when I start this game, so it's hard to pay, so I have a memory searching Adventure Steam free games a lot on UA-cam. None of the introduced games I liked at the time, so I found this game by dragging it for quite a long time in the Steam Free Games section. Maybe the reason why people don't play this game is that it's not included in the game introduction video, and the streamers playing it aren't active. Also, after introducing them to my friends, they were more interested in the LOL or FPS games than the adventure game, so they didn't really want to play this game. It's been updated recently and now we can use the B key to do a rough tutorial, but when i played, I had a hard time because I didn't know what to do. If a famous streamer plays this game, it will definitely become famous. (Im korean so not good at english 😅)
They kept adding things while removing functionality that was already in the game, Then they went from selling it to F2P and locked people out of things they already had before it went F2P. Then they went all over the place trying to nail down how there were going to make the DLC / paid stuff work and by that time the other people I played with quit. They won't even install the game now and I'm the only one that will play it out of my entire friends list. There are 38 people on my Friends list that have it and almost all of them bought it. Trying to get back into it now since there are not many games like it especially that work good on Linux.
I played it again the other night (check the live videos) and I am still blown away at this game. It has everything people that play these games want. Yet the devs blew it. I still don't get why they keep trying to push the free to play angle.
Hello all, i'm an ylands player from around 3 years,i'm a part of the small but very hard working ship builder community. What can i say about the game,is perfect, it still have some little problems but you can really do everything, for me is 10/10 and hope that more player found this amazing game
It's a great game. The amount of content is amazing. Have about 20 hrs in so far since starting it back up and I feel I haven't even scratched the surface.
Exatly, the possibility are literally impossibile to identify by a number,2 council in my opinion are,visit a lot the shop for the building(and get lot of ispiration) and "play" with stuff on creative mode and above all into the editor
You can unlock the other biomes by collecting resources and crafting packages that can unlock the biome so the game allows you to play it as a free to play game if your willing to put in the grind to collect everything you need which in my opinion just gives you goals to work towards and by the time you do unlock a new biome you'd most likely be better equipped to be there but that's only for the gamers who are willing to do that and the people that complain and say the game is being greedy either haven't figured out yet that they can unlock the biomes or they are just lazy

played it when it released, but realised I pretty much unlocked everything the game had to offer at that time, but niw with the new version it is worth playing again
Hi, I moderate the Ylands discord, and I know people are playing it. There's usually an average of 10 players a day that join. Some people however don't like the challenge and do drop out before they realize the absolute freedom you have in this game. The numbers are growing, and you do not need to buy the DLC....you can grind to pay for the other regions.
when keralis played it the game was great then the dev team fuked it up update after update they dont listen to the playerbase at all the game has been dead for years and had so muck potential its sad to see tbh 😢
hey bud i have a question i am struggling to find any clay at all only place i can find it is in chests in buildings and i cant advance anymore in the game without it any ideas for me
On the map if you hover over the different biomes it will tell you what you can find in that biome. Find the one with clay and just start searching! It can always be a pin to find items at first. Once you figure out where stuff is it gets easier.
They need some challenging NPC in the Ocean like Atlas game and some ghost ship roaming around the island bec. I build cannons on my ship which is useless haha.. I think they need to add stats on their weapons, the game is cool
@@LanzkiTgaming in temperate. If you find an island with ghost encounters then i think the ship must be sailing around it somewhere but i have never found it myself. Only helped my friends take some down
I honestly both thought and still belive this game has the ability to take over mincraft. but not how it stands now I loved the game when I first tried it and that was when it first came out . but now it just dosent feel the same its fun but its just missing . not to mention the server feature for me that made it a no go and it is likely the same for most people as well . I gave it a try recently and I uninstalled it in 20 minutes I dont want a dedicated server just make it how it used to be open the game and start it from the main menu and have the choice to play the game without a server. its a dead game for a reason and sadly its not becuase of the game becuase the game is fun the bs required to play the game is not and most people will just uninstall it .
No one plays it because it's a trash game. After you bought the game in early access or after 1.0, they then locked everything behind another pay wall. Yeah, eff that.

Misinformation. You don't have to buy package of recipes, you can unlock it by yourself.

The *PING* when you sail is when you pass over some interesting biomes that may contain things thay may be useful.

i'm going to try this game in the next few days, it's the kind of game i like, exploring is something i enjoy.
I play mostly on single player. It is fun with friends, but co-op is buggy.

In the Arid biome but if you travel around tropical ylands you might find random encounters with some chests with around 5-15 clay

There is a ghost ship encounter 😃 It's very difficult to take down so keep those cannons of yours!
