Great historical review of some beloved jazz artists. Shaye, it was special--a delight--to hear that little comment about your Dad and see his photo! Thank you so much for including that!! Send us more about your historical family!
Shaye plays so many instruments so very well, yet the best might be her voice. Clear, clean, lovely tone and pitch, she blends wonderfully and supports with style. Kudos, young lady, you truly are a treasure.
Ahhhhhh mercy sing it honey.... this is awesome. I'm real sucker for top shelf Piano any time and this as both. Fabulous piano and great singer !!! Beautiful job ladies. Thank you for this great video. Did I mention two beautiful ladies !!!
I am only a music listener and jazz has never me from music. I accidently found Shaye and Tuba Skinny via UA-cam last year and love their jazz since then. This is another jazz program that interest me. I am delighted to know the background of the songs you present here as well as your beautiful clear voice, Sarah. Both of you are terrific. Keep on with music you love and so pleasant to listen to. ... Love from your fan in Thailand.
If you close your eyes and just listen you are transported to a time and place long ago and relive thebeginnings of jazz. Greetings from South Africa to two great musicians.
What a wonderful afternoon I’ve had listening to you two amazing ladies. Thank you so much it’s a 3rd or 4th time now and it just gets better and better it’s like I’ve been taken back in time. My mam and dad both were blind pianists and played in pubs in North East England for a living they died in 82&83
That's the best I've heard since lockdown. I had the great pleasure of briefly meeting Shaye in New Orleans in November 2019. She really is a charmer and a superb musician. Very many thanks to you both for a really marvellous musical interlude. Please do more and please continue to promote this wonderful music. Greetings and thanks from Wales.
For me it doesn't get any better than this!! a small personal insight to my favourite and multi-talented musician, Miss Shaye cohn. With a biography of talented Jazzsters, who are long gone. Very insightful and very enjoyable. Much thanks
Thank's Sarah and Shaye, that was really fun to watch! Despite being an avid listener of music of all styles, early Jazz is something which has been a bit of a blind spot for me until recently. I clicked on a Tuba Skinny video, little realising that I would be pitched head first into a whole new world of music.... and I'm loving it! Keep doing what you do and hopefully one day I'll get to see you both perform live. Take Care, Dave.
I adore you two ladies ( and Meschiya Lake / Erika Lewis) and your associated bands. I've spent many hours listening and watching you not only on youtube but also@ Spotted Cat...Royal St....and all over N.O.. Although I currently live in L.A. I have (and plan on continuing) to always return to N.O.....In fact I have been seriously considering relocating there for long term. I love the music....the food (everytime I'm there I manage to end up blossoming into a Zepplin).....and the people. You woman and your peers do a great service to the history of not only N.O. but to our country as a whole by preserving the early traditions and work of so many which have enabled N.O. to proudly be labled "The Cradle of ALL American Music." No matter what genre it may be, if one traces its family tree back to its influences and place of conception its Great Great Grandmother at one time strolled the streets of my beloved VIEUX CARRE'. Thank you for all of it. I'll catcha again soon (once this damn pandemic settles) down around Frenchman or Royal St.....The French Quarter would not be itself without the sounds of these acts of historical musical expressions of life.
I didn't even know that these two ladies had been working together on a project like this so it was just by chance that I listened in. After a few minutes I sat spellbound by their musicianship - this is some of the best woman blues I have heard in a very long time! Hope for a Part II...
What can I say? I love those who love music. And Sarah Peterson and Shaye Cohn are two artists who, for their dedication and sensitivity, deserve all my respect and admiration. They make art their haven of shelter. Thank you very much.
This is exquisite. A presentation by two beautiful, sensitive and talented women of music 100 years old which will ensure its survival for the next 100 (if we all make it.)
Thank You both. My love of the blues grows deeper with this history lesson. I appreciate the set as it reflects the down home style of this music. 😎✌️🎶
Oh wow !!! This is absolutely awesome work... These two beautiful ladies I admire so much. I concur Richard, Shaye plays alot of instruments. Wished I was so talented. This is true downhome Louisiana blues...
Wonderful. If I were still teaching Intro to Jazz and Jazz History. This would be required viewing for my students. Please keep up this collaboration. You have so much talent and knowledge to share as a duo!
Absolutely brilliant. Please let have more of the history and background of these jazz giants. This has set me up for a happy and productive day here on the west coast of Ireland. Shay and Saraha you are both brilliant. Keep going.
What a wonderful project presenting a chapter in the history of the music that was composed, played and listened to, influencing so much the new music that is composed, played and listened to this very day.
I love the educational component of this recording. It's great not only to hear this wonderful music but to learn more about the people who made it. Well done.
Ms. Cohn has a really strong left hand. I’m guessing that’s where she developed her fabulous sense of time that takes her band to such a high level. She mentions Benny Carter; his command of multiple instruments at the highest level is a baseline for her. Years ago, I was able to attend a rare concert of him playing his big band compositions. John Lewis and Lew Tabackin were in the band, among others. I wept for the first half hour.
Brilliant! Thanks so much ladies. It's great to have the history behind the songs and artistes. You're making history yourselves by collaborating in this musical document. A rare an special treat to hear you two playing and singing together. Almost as good as being there. Still hoping to come over for FQF. God Bless Y'all
A sparkling idea to narrate this story by pretty women and brilliant musicians! So warm and homely atmosphere..I was sailng on and diving into the waves of evergreen blues..and how enjoing to attend the real speking of Sarah and Shaye! I admire them!!
There may not be any musical instrument which Shaye cannot master! Wow, and such an incrrdible singing voice too.😊😊😊 Clear, resonant, strong.😊😊😊 Awesome, Shaye.👍
I've seen the always wonderful Shay Cohn a bunch of times. Sarah Peterson is a new voice to me. She's really got the idiom down; hope to hear a lot more of her singing this material.
That exquisite last duet, "Faraway Blues," is so lovely 35:27 and in my mind I added Cornet, Trombone, Clarinet, and most importantly, some _WASHBOARD!_ 🎼💜🎺 - j q t -
Stunning history lesson.
Shaye is the most talented, most charismatic and most beautiful female musician in America if not the world.
I do agree!
Great historical review of some beloved jazz artists. Shaye, it was special--a delight--to hear that little comment about your Dad and see his photo! Thank you so much for including that!! Send us more about your historical family!
I loved to hear the most intelligent and graceful musicians. And I love hearing and learned all about Bessie and Clara. Thanks Sarah and Shaye.
Great musicians playing and singing great music. Thank you.
Great educational piece of music theory and history. As well as extremely great vocals and piano accompaniment
So touching!
Shaye plays so many instruments so very well, yet the best might be her voice. Clear, clean, lovely tone and pitch, she blends wonderfully and supports with style. Kudos, young lady, you truly are a treasure.
Shaye can make anyone sound good with some talent
Ahhhhhh mercy sing it honey.... this is awesome. I'm real sucker for top shelf Piano any time and this as both. Fabulous piano and great singer !!! Beautiful job ladies. Thank you for this great video.

I always enjoy Shay. I just wish Sarah could determine if she wants to be feminine or masculine. I never like it when a person attempts to be both.
