I absolutely love these musicians! Dixieland Band is a real toe tapper! And Singer Vocalist Erica is marvelous! She’s amazing! They’re all so talented!!!
No,there is no better JAZZ around today than that played by this superb band. All of them are outstanding and the trombonist,Mr.Jones is as good as any of the greats of the 1920's.
Real 'hot' dance bands come alive in this session and Tuba Skinny has 'come of age'---both the trombone and the trumpet players have really given this number some 'stick'---it brings the memories of Bix, Eddie Condon, Jack Teagarden and Bobby Hackett 'back to life'! Yes, Tuba Skiinny has 'come of age' and (unlike previous sessions) this one really has 'taken off'. Great stuff!!!
What you may not understand is that after Katrina, the original members of the band dug around in the debris of Katrina and found these brass instruments, and leaned to play them quickly so they could go into the streets and try to cheer up the people that were dealing with the aftermath of the disaster. Shaye, for instance is not playing her instrument of choice. She is a very accomplished pianist who also playsviolin. The coronet and trombone are things she picked up after the storm. However, i guess i might be old enough to be her grandfater and I certainly enjoy her style. This entire group has my total respect one musician to another.
@@wribkee Not to quibble, but it's hard to know Shaye's 'instrument of choice'. She still plays a lot of traditional jazz on piano - most notably a series of gigs with Dr Michael A White on clarinet. Plus she learned trombone in order to get the Shake Em Up Jazz Band going,. She used to play accordion too, and she still plays fiddle & guitar or bass with Erika in Lonesome Doves as often as they can. Helluva talent. There are a good many videos if you search a bit.

Dixieland
Erika is the best live street singer I have ever heard,. Wonderful indeed
Great number and a fabulous solo by Shaye.
Please come to Maine after Labor Day. It would be a great treat from the greatest New Orleans jazz band playing today.
Love this group❤
Tuba Skinny band musicians for this performance.
Shaye Cohn ------ Cornet
Barnabus Jones ------ Trombone
Erika Lewis ------ Drum & Vocals
Todd Burdick ------ Tuba
Ryan Baer ----- Guitar
Defne Dizzy Incirlioglu ----- Washboard

Great night of music. I am already a fan of Cirkestra, and the likes of a New Orleans jazz band was too good tobpass up. Glad I went.
Sure....
a New Orleans Jazz band....What was played at Preservation Hall by the Humphries.....Changed after they were both gone to the next world.

I love the fact that she plays in a style that her Grandfather's contemporaries would have considered old fashioned..... Great stuff!

.... I thought al polcer gave shaye that horn ..... 😎
Erica’s certainly eaten a few pie’s since this was recorded. Now it’s 2024 but her voice is still superb as are the whole band.🎶🎶
She has also had children.
Why did you find it necessary to comment on that.
All they need is a wicked clarinet and a bass drum.
Erika spielt Bass Drum und normalerweise ist auch ein Erstklassige Klarinette dabei
Everything is in order,
as now and then someone will find something missing ❤
Nice camera shake. Love the music though.
Erika in her new frock.
This is a great band, too bad the recordings so crappy
Ви дуже гарні, не переймайтеся!
