Great video, presentation, ive been a fan for 10 years now, getting this background story will make such a difference, thank you.And a big thanks to all who brought tuba to us over the years,
Great compilation and interesting info on the musicians most of whom, surprisingly, were not NO natives. Didn’t mention that the wonderful Shaye is the granddaughter of Al Cohn, one of Woody Herman’s Four Brothers. I lived in the French Quarter in the mid 60s when entry to Preservation Hall was $1 and requests were also 1$ (2$ for The Saints!). If Tuba Skinny had been around then I would never have got any work done.
Had 5 trips by ship to New Orleans - first trip visited the heaving French Quarter on Christmas Eve. There are always bands playing in the streets and while I don't always remember the names, I am familiar with Tuba Skinny. One of the best memory was dinner one night up on one of those balconies in Bourbon Street watching the amazing atmosphere on the street below. Later we walked back to the ship in rain so heavy, it hit the ground and bounced back up 3 feet under our coats - no complaints though.
Bellamina: the verses have the same melody as a country song called Bimbo...Bimbo is a popular song written in either 1948 or 1949 by Glenn O'Dell, but credited to Rodney (Rod) Morris or "Pee Wee" King. Jim Reeves, popular country singer, had a hit with it in 1954. So perhaps the Bimbo verse melody was accidently or on purpose stolen from Bellamina. link: ua-cam.com/video/hZzBESzOAIg/v-deo.html

My apologies digitalalexa. I acknowledge your content by why should we not BOTH pay tribute to our favourite SURPERB BAND. Having met them in FQF in 2022 I found them so friendly.

Yes the sweeter sound of the cornet makes a difference, gives the group a distinctive different sound. they all have great tone too.
Brilliant Ken New Orleans was fun and I love your post😂
I Think their best line up was when John Doyle played, not having a sax anymore was a bad move.
