Big fan of Tuba SKinny, but this group is great. The group are true pros. Shaye Cohn keeps right up with them. Don't mess with her. Her solo was just brilliant. you can tell she's having a ball with these guys.
I wish you guys would come and play in my street, I am a Widower so id grab a lady of mature years on the street and ask her to dance. Great Sigmund Romberg tune, with words when sung, by Oscar Hammerstein 2nd. How people can just walk past without at least tapping their feet is beyond me.???????

Just in the name of accuracy, this isn't a "street band" busking: these players are stars in New York and New Orleans, John Allred plays in Broadway pit orchestras . . . so it's like the Guarnieri Quartet doing Mozart outdoors. Glad you enjoyed it!
@@swingyoucats Thank you for this info. I was a little "candid" in my comment !!! (I'm from Paris France) Since then I have searched and found (and heard) lots of information on him.
Un jazz totalmente libre....magnifica cornetista es Shaye. En la Retaguardia Jazz Band, de Santiago de Chile, a la que pertenezco como pianista, valoramos su trabajo y el de su banda en la difusión del jazz tradicional.
To think you have access to such quality of music on the street is beyond my comprehension , I’m totally humbled by these musicians bless them all from here in the UK 😀👍👍👍
Wow! Gotta get myself down to NYC some Sunday soon.. Musicians of this magnitude playing on the sidewalk! I first became familiar with the playing of Jon-Erik Kellso & John Allred when each did guest soloist sessions (different dates) with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band in Barcelona (an amazing story in its own right), well documented here on YT. They became among my favorites of the many jazz professionals who have sat in with the kids in Catalunya and to think I missed this opportunity...
I love this tune so much. Thank you Michael for filming and sharing here with us. John Allred on trombone is fantastic. Jon-Erik Kellso and my beloved Shaye playing together. That is so wonderful. Lovely Regards and best wishes to you Dave from Berlin Germany.
Soy de CDMX chilango . Este tipo de música casi no es apreciada en este país. Pienso que si escucharemos mas música como esta, no seríamos una sociedad tan violenta. Thanks for that music.
All I can say is OMG. What an absolute delight to listen to this group. I was blown away by the trombone, John Allred. Amazing control and musicianship. THANK YOU!!! .
So, that makes 2 ladies of consequence that play horns that have performed at the Ear Inn, and both with James Chirillo on guitar at their right... that would be Bria Skonberg and Shaye Cohn, who have performed together in NOLA! See Tuba Skinny live Shake It and Break It on Royal St JF 2016
The trombone player reminds of the British player Roy Williams, both are superb Masters, the clean sound of the rhythm guitar and contrabass is such a swinging open honest feel. This is a really sweet band, with a big future, keep swingin' !!
@@JonErikKellso Sorry, I got an information, Bill died last year. I'm very happy, that this information was wrong. I heard Bill and John, and I heard YOU, when you was very young in Germany with Peanuts Hucko.
So cool to hear Shaye Cohn and Jon-Erik Kellso together like this - and the others are fantastic, too. Thanks so much for capturing and sharing this wonderful performance.
To the glory of God and to raise the spirits, this one does it in gallons! Can't believe I am able to listen to this, each time I hear new beautiful notes missed the last time around, such is my feeble wotsit

It shows she can play this style of jazz just as well as she plays the 100-year-old stuff back in NOLA.
Shaye Cohn you're the cornet godess.
The trombone is dope.
The whole gang is awesome but the Tbone complete mastery of idiom/instrument is motivating.
Yeah!! So so good!!
All inspired musicians; great job!
I have chatted with Shaye. Charming person. But, oh my, the music that is stored in her head. Look at her sitting there. A master of her craft.
And I guess she can play any instrument she picks up.
I was first taken by her answers to Jon's licks, then she went off on her own. Wow.
