Hi I got a few questions here. Hi what is a 101 drone licence? Do i need a licence if my drone is under 249 grams? do i need a licence to fly my drone at all? if my drone is under 249 grams do i need to tell the people i am flying? if i am not in a restricted airspace do i still need to tell the people?
Hello Liamy -It is just a name, everyone is automatically a 101 drone pilot. -No, you don't. If it is under 249g you are good to go. -Only if you are flying over Land managed by Doc. Otherwise, you can look at a 102 license. -If you are flying over someone you should get their permission or get a 102 -Not really. Only the landowner, if it is required Have fun flying
Hi Thomas.. A few questions for you - 1. Do I need permission/registration with council/airshare for all locations in NZ or are there any free to fly zones where I am good if I just stick to the basic flying etiquettes as enumerated by you. 2. Is there a way to ascertain in advance (if I know the google location) if that area is a free to fly area or one with restrictions.? 3. Do the councils charge a fee for permissions? Sorry for the long list of queries..!!
Hi, Sonny day, Great question. Whoever is operating the drone is responsible for keeping themselves and others safe while the drone is in the air. This could mean giving some distance between the drone and other people or letting them know before the drone is in the air. But at the end of the day, you could fly over someone by mistake without their permission. Simply land where it is safe to do so and go from there
How fast can you expect approval? Had trouble signing up and read the comments on the app in the app store. So many negative comments about it. Has the app gotten better?
When using Airshare I usually give myself a week or so before. Witch gives me heaps of time to make any changes if I need to. The quickest I have gotten a response was 20 mins and the longest has been 24 Hours. I personally have never had any problems using Airshare and there has been a large update at the end of last year so hopefully this helps
Hello Thomas, I’m sorry for this question but I’m new with this.. 2 questions please 1) do I need to tell the NZ airport when I arrive that I will fly a drone? 2) do I need special permission or letter from NZ guvernment to fly dron? I will appreciate your reply…
Hello Aldo Zuniga, 1. You don't need to tell the NZ airport that you will be flying a drone in New Zealand but make sure you let them know you have a drone with you. I think it is best you bring any batteries with you in your carry-on luggage but please read through the NZ customs website and listen to what they tell you. 2. Regarding Permission to fly each council has, it's on rules and guidelines to follow just search the name of the district you are in and put council you should find it there. If you have any more questions, I am more than happy to help.
Hi Thomas. I’m not sure about a specific situation flying my drone. Can you help me please? I live In clyde, near from airport. But I don’t know if I need to tell them every time I need to fly the drone in my house or not. And about night. Why I can’t fly during night. I want to take long exposure pictures. So. Thanks for letting me I hope you have a great day.
Hello, DTF Producciones. If you are flying inside or outside in a shielded operation (where there is an object higher than you are flying like a building or tree) you don't need to get permission from the airport. But if you are flying outside withen 4km of an Airport and are not flying in a shielded operation then you simply log your flight onto Airshare. I would recommend you log your flight one to two days before you attend to fly. This way you have some time to make changes if you need to. Best of luck flying my friend.
@@ThomasCokerNZ Hey Thomas. How are you?. I’m really appreciate it. You’re the only one who made me understand. I live here but I talk Spanish. Understand the rules is more complicated to me. So if I have trees around my house I don’t need to ask them. I can see clearly now. The same in the lakes around the mountains? You can fly in the lake but not too higher than the mountains for example. I use the app and I set up all my flights just in case but around 15 hours or less before fly. Many thanks for your help. You’re cool bro!
@@ThomasCokerNZ and I forgot to ask you about fly at nights. Long exposure photography. Because my drone says “you can fly till 5:45 pm. No more. Do you know why?
Just make sure that you are 100 metres or less away from your object providing the shield. And when you are flying at night you just need to be flying a shielded operation. Have fun flying👍🏻
These rules don't hold up well. Drone does not need to be in sight at all times other wise you can't ever use fpv googles. Permission consent to fly over people is wrong becuase the news captures crowd footage all the time without consent. Filimg people in public is allowed in nz ( option to blur out faces if people request it ). People fly drones at night time for drone light shows so there must be a law which you can apply to do so or plan to do. If you had night vision I don't see anyproblem with flying at night as long as you don't scare people with the noise.

What happens if you are flying your drone and people walk under it?

Which Park is it? Also, any suggestions for good spots in Christchurch for flying?
I have been flying my drone in the Christchurch gardens but make sure you log your flight on Airshare before you take off.

Bro, I don't make the rules but I do want people to have fun and to be safe. So don't forget to cheack before flying💪🏼
Im fairly sure you spelt Aerodrones wrong... Ear is your ears, Aero is fight.
