Now that I’ve watched you working so hard I need to get to my own chores. I have to finish planting my tomato garden this morning. Tomatoes are the only veggie I grow and this year I have 10 plants; four Cherokee Purple, and two each of Red Brandywine, Mortgage Lifter and Big Beef. Big Beef is a modern hybrid and the others are heirloom. Yesterday I prepped the bed by tilling in some composted manure. Additionally, I am in the process of restoring a beautiful old plant stand for a friend’s daughter and I’ll continue with that project. Made of white oak it was stored in a damp basement for decades and so needs a LOT of refinishing.
they're a lot of work 🙃 Sometimes I wonder where my stopping point is haha. I'm pretty happy with my growth on a lot of them so future chops might be from the top to slow them down a bit 🫣
@@plantsbymelissa If you try it you won't regret it. I now have 7 plants on poles (one of them from you) and I just started using yucca 3 months ago just for the moss. It is amazing!!! Using it every other time I mist or water the moss has been a game changer for my pole maintenance 🙌

It really makes such a difference! The string is a little hard to work with but once you figure it out it holds well. The variegated heart leaf is so pretty!! I got this plant so long ago so I'm actually really happy to prop it and start over :)

But your Adansonii is INSAAAAAAAANE!!!!! You're definitely a master at your craft 🙀😻 And thank you for the tip on the large thiccly...I'll be travelling to Singapore this year and I've arranged to pick me up some poles from them as they'll deliver to my hotel, very cool of them to do that. So I'll stock up on a few of them 😝 It's good to see your bandage is off your arm so glad it's feeling better. And your Splendid chop n extend was soooooo satisfying to watch 👏🏼👏🏼🥳
I love those ikea pots I need to get some. My splendid is one of the fastest growers in my collection but the leaves are no where near as big as yours. Just beautiful 💚
They're such good planters! I was surprised I only had to pay $10 for shipping and I ordered more random stuff with them so definitely a great price. The closet ikea is 2 hours from me but glad they could ship them. It took a little bit for splendid to size up this big but so happy with the growth 🫶

I just took my largest verrucosum off of its medium thiccly pole and added it to 2 large ones (different brand) instead, and then added the medium thiccly on top and packed around it with moss 😂 I need to order more clear poles 😅 It looks okay but definitely a little strange with the smaller pole stuck in the top😂❤ I filmed it on my old iPhone, and then went to sync it to icloud so I could get it on my new phone, and it disappeared completely 😭😭 20 minute video just disappeared. It was on my phone for a whole day before it disappeared, but it's gone. No idea how or why but I'm bitter and never using it to film on ever again 😂
oh no!! I'm so sorry 😩 That's such a crappy feeling spending all that time filming and then the video disappears like that. I've had a couple times where my mic was off or my camera messed up and erased things so definitely know how that feels 🥲 I'm sure your verrucosum still looks great!! 🥰🫶

Do you mean the cuttings in stratum? The stratum holds them in place and once they start rooting I'll take some out and move to individual cups. I just don't have the space to separate them all right now :)

I’ve had enough of moss poles. Especially since my plants are getting super tall. I’m just attaching the growth with clips to the wall.

Thank you for sharing! I have found that using yucca extract really helps with rehydrating moss and keeping it hydrated longer. I love the Bios brand.

How do you root so many in a pan? How do you keep them standing up? Am I seeing it wrong :)
