I thought it will be more about science and the approach scientists take in exploring something unchartered. As masterclass has only two classes in science category, I wish more scientist come in this masterclass and teach science artistically to us. Climate science and computer science or cosmology.

I'm a blind man. Learning and communication through audio is key. Neil is great with his performance. I know Neil is always evolving. That is key. Knowing your rudiments or fundamentals is also key. With the Key of music, you can never grow individually without understanding the r rudiments, or you will just regurgitate what other people said. I hope Neil knows you are helping to promote his Master Class. I'll check yours out when I have the Key.

There are many MasterClass reviews out there already. This one has a specific title so it is supposed to be about Neil's such class only. But then, you need to wait until 2:58 into the video, you will hear "let's jump into the class, right now". And then you will hear "let's jump into this really" at 6:18 and 6:23. So, future watchers, start from there. (To be fair, I later realize that, in some of his other such reviews, a Table of Content with timed links would also be available inside the video description. Not this one, though.)
The real review content is not bad.

Sorry about that. In my latest reviews, i make sure to add time stamps.
Many people are new to masterclass and don't know how it works so thats why the intro is like that.

One thing about Neil deGrasse Tyson I might add, from my perspective: Almost everything he says about physics is dead-on accurate. (I wish I could say this about all science communicators, but....) A lot of physicists who attempt to make science accessible end up using analogies that aren't that accurate, or they simplify the discussion too much, to the point that what they're saying isn't quite right anymore. Almost everything Neil deGrasse Tyson says, though, is precisely worded to be _correct_, which is an accomplishment few achieve.

There are a few theories of where the backlash came from. Now this is just my opinion but I have a love hate relationship with him. I love the way he openly acts like a well educated child in his interviews and StarTalk. He's really interested in his guests and jokes around well with Chuck Nice and his other co hosts. But he is super easy to get cocky. He will never make fun of himself or call himself out and always is quick to call out others' mistakes. It's super freaking annoying man. It isn't that common but he's still known to do it from time to time. I just think someone who is: 1. That smart 2. a leader in an industry and field 3. has met and traveled as much as he has would easily be able to have a healthy dose of humility and modesty. I hate cocky scientists tbh. It's a public/academic field. Be cocky in the lab.

To answer your question of why there was a recent 180 on Tyson, he got metoo'd about a year ago. Tyson pretty much corroborated everything Ashley Watson said. He invited her to his room for the evening and it sure sounds like he was hitting on her.
While an older married man hitting on a younger engaged woman is kind of creepy it's not something Tyson would get fired over.
More serious is what happened the day after. Tyson telling her she had no future and Watson getting fired/resigning shortly after.
Does Tyson keeping his job exonerate him? No. There are many athletes and entertainers that keep their jobs after doing bad things. The most important consideration for management is the bottom line. Is Tyson still a money maker? Tyson stays if the answer is yes.
For Ann Druyan the question is "Does Tyson still persuade?" If Tyson is still successfully pushing the fashionable narrative, she doesn't seem to care about his misbehavior. Many of Tyson's cautionary tales are based on invented history. So long as people still swallow his stories Ann Druyan seems okay with Tyson's falsehoods.
Doing the right thing is a low priority for Tyson's employers.

He represents something seemingly unique to this time in Western history. Some good, some bad. Despite the Masterclass, remember he is human and, as he says everyone has...he has his biases. @@cactus00001 I'm not so interested in "his class" as much as I'm interested in analyzing the way he thinks and feels. Since I will probably never meet the man, his masterclass is probably the closest I'll ever get to getting into the "nuts and bolts" of his mind. My goal is not to discredit or defame him. He has come to certain conclusions and I would like to know the foundation of his thinking process to see if I would come to the same conclusions or whether I might become aware of something that may have misdirected his search for knowledge. This is not ego driven. I wouldn't be interested in a debate, even if it could happen. Every person, IMO, has the responsibility to make up their mind about life, which one doesn't have to have a PhD. to have, engage and be thoroughly successful at. Nor does a PhD guarantee such success. There has been and will continue to be people who have been closer to the essential truths of life than Neil, IMO. I just want to have as informed an opinion of him as I can.

Lt. Cmdr. Data: Sir, I do not know how you define "billion," but
    (i) There is no way Dr. Tyson has been interviewed 10^9 times. (6:42 min)
(ii) It is impossible for Dr. Tyson to have billions of hours of experience in the world of narration. (9:37 min)
    How do you define "billion"?
    ---------------------
    My calculations indicate:
    If 100 interviews per day:
    365 days/year * 61 years * 100 interviews/day = 2,226,500 interviews (2.2 million)
    Hours Dr. Tyson has lived:
    365 days/year * 61 years * 24 hours/day = 534,360 hours (534 thousand hours)

There is a higher power than us, call it God, god or whatever, we don't know yet. But I'm sure all the religions while they have some good and some true stories, they will have gotten it wrong likely on purpose or by design. Just do good, feel good, and learn what's actually in front of your eyes and beyond.

Just an FYI, ethics is one of the main branches of philosophy. Most of the greatest ethical philosophers throughout history have justified their ethical theories without a need for god.
