The literal light of this soundtrack comes from the town theme "Silence of the Daylight": it accompanies the city visits just right and doesn't really get old.
Every town of this game (Jova, Aljiba, Veros, Oldon, Fetra, Ghulash and Alba) plays this song only during the day.
It never got remixed in any game after this :(
FDS Comparison: another example of good NES remaster. Not SO much better than the Famicom version, but it wins anyway.

The first 7 seconds feel like you’re in a safe place but then, after that, the song makes you feel like your in a place full of unknown, suspicious people.

Clues to Dracula's riddle can be found in the town of Alba.
It truly conveys the feel of a great hero who's now sick from a curse; but also the theme carries just enough glimpses of hope that'll ultimately result in Simon's eventual salvation.
To me it feels like Simon Belmont's day off or something

It is really a shame that this song didn't get a remix later on. Judging from the game it comes, I think it could've made an excellent song for the latter, more rpg-metroidvania games.
I find it even more interesting that it was that forgotten considering it comes from the same game that had Bloody Tears...

This was actually the theme I’ve always associated Castlevania with as a kid. I remember renting this and never knowing about part 1 until some years later 😂

Castlevania 2 is one of the earliest games I remember playing in the early 90s on NES. I thought maybe I didn't have strong reading comprehension, then I learned years later that it's riddle with terrible translations...

I thought Ramsey Lewis - Lullabye was the inspiration for this song the first time I heard it, only to later realize it was released in 1998, well after Castlevania 2. Are they both inspired by the same song? "Lullabye" is very similar to "Silence of the Daylight"....

The Japanese clearly have something wrong with the prioritization. This tune just plays in the cities when we just roam. But it should be a disturbing and solemn melody for some epic battle or its opening. Or an example - a melody from Ninja Gaiden, level 4-2. This is just a single level tune, although it should be the theme song of the entire game and should be played in the start menu. And there are many such examples.
It is just an accident that those pieces become more popular. They were not intended to be better or more popular among fans, it just happened that way.
Monster Dance either was remixed ;( and it's as epic as bloody Tears.
