Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (originally known as 悪魔城伝説 or
Akumajō Densetsu, meaning "Legend of the Demon Castle") is the
story of Trevor Belmont's battle against Dracula from the times before
Simon's battle in Castlevania. In this complex and difficult game,
there are three playable allies whom Trevor can recruit: Alucard
(Dracula's son), Grant DaNasty (a pirate captain), and Sypha Belnades
(a mystic warlord).
This game has a technically high-quality soundtrack because it uses a
VRC6 sound chip that works in the Japanese Famicom but not in the NES.
Thus, the movie was made with the Japanese version of the game instead
of the USA version.
This movie takes the path that recruits Sypha. There's also a
Grant path ( tasvideos.org/... ) movie and an Alucard path ( tasvideos.org/... ) movie.
This is an improvement of 1:18.69 over the previous movie ( tasvideos.org/... ), thanks to improved usage of Sypha's ice spell and overall better optimisation.
That VRC6 audio just pops...🤯
when you can't be arsed climbing the stairs so you freeze a bone mid-air and jump to the next floor with that instead
Or a bat
Ok.. we saw. Thanks
When you can't bother with a timestamp

Wow the bone pillars appear to shoot significantly slower in the Famicom version. The stage 9 stair section looked so tame compared to when I beat it last night. It’s so cool watching a TAS take on a game like this! The intentional hits, superhuman timing on everything (especially Sypha freezing enemies and projectiles for platforms), and taking bosses out in a split second. It also seemed like Dracula’s final form could’ve been done a little faster if the TAS had just collected a couple extra hearts. Probably even just the big heart right before the boss area. Regardless, awesome video.
Children: Gramma, tell us how you beat Dracula again!
Sypha: Well... [smiles grabbing cane and immediately starts swinging it about and chasing laughing children about the room]
The Tv sucks
Umm. Corny. Just stop commenting please
U ok?
Ralph: I have a very powerful morning star!
Alucard: I can summon fireballs from my cloak!
Sypha: *B O N K*
Oh, and magic
And wonderful cursing in Netflix Castelvania :)
Grant: What about me guys?
@@KyuJuEX099x Grant: I can warp from Alucard level 4 to the end of the game guys!
Grant da nasty 1
Seeing all those bosses go down like chumps almost hurts my feelings.
6:23 The biggest mystery of the series is how Sypha shakes left handed, and Trevor shakes right handed.
You mean Trevor?
@@NinjaCacodemon_IsSus Maybe 🤔
Did you change Ralph to Trevor?
@@NinjaCacodemon_IsSus Maybe 🤔
His grip looks hella awkward too 😂😂
8:37 The way she just beats Medusa with a stick!
Yea. We saw
It was the quick repetitions that did it
Slypha "evil spirits get off of my lawn!" Waves around her cane.

Yeah that's pretty funny! Continue commenting your jokes!
I love the Famicom version. It has the most rich music thanks to the extra sound chip in the cartridge.
That chip was the Vrc 6 from Konami. This was removed from the American version and was made more difficult.
Ri.. right. Shits dope
God the music with in Japanese version with extra sound chip is spectacular. All of us in the US sorely missed out.
The US version is bettern
@@ivanr4300 totally, it's not all full of buzz channels, love the vrc6 chip, the American reworked soundtrack has better compositions that even though there's two channels missing, comes across as more musical to me. In fact I've made myself a CD of the American soundtrack to take on car rides, off of original hardware and it's awesome to listen to. If you have the game or ROM loaded and want to listen just to the soundtrack press the a&b buttons while pressing start at the title screen and the game goes into sound track mode, works on both the am and Japanese version.
Nice¡¡ 19:11 técnica de congelar y doble salto... buena partida, buen juego
I have never played a castlevania game before, and probably never will again, because i suck at these kind of games, and im legit only playing this one because sypha is my favorite character in the show.
Rondo of Blood has Maria, who makes the game very easy. Also, Symphony of the Night and its sequels have a different gameplay style which is more beginner friendly.
Worth watching just to hear the music, which is the second-best in all the NES/Famicom library. (#1 is Solstice.)
agreed
Can't beat the Follin brothers
Would tie Crystalis with both
Wow, awesome sounding music!! It is different than the version my brothers & i played.
The Famicom version had an additional onboard sound chip that allowed for additional audio channels compared to the NES version.
I hope that Konami can make a game with Sypha as a main character. Love her so much .
4:12 that was a nice sync to the music, intentional or not
Ok that was cool when you knocked out two bosses with one hit on the ghost ship!
Japanese or not, this soundtrack kicks ass
"I am Sypha Belnades-"
"I don't caaare."
The skip near the beginning on the level with Death as the boss I've never seen. I have seen some of the skips when Funkdoc did a run at SGDQ or AGDQ. I was wondering how viable the critical hit strats are in real time?
ALL Bosses list
2:17 skull knight
5:46 cyclops
8:36 snakeman sentinel
9:39 mummies and cyclops
13:01 the creature
15:14 water dragons
17:52 mummies, cyclops and leviathan
20:10 death
23:51 doppelgänger
26:05 count dracula
Wow. Amazing, just one question... How can you Insta-Kill Bosses like that? Is it done the same way as in the Castlevania 1? The Critical Hit? Hitting the enemy in the same frame that he hits you... Is that it? And btw, I know that is a TAS and how it works.
Just watch the video fucking idiot. You saw it
That boomerang can really make you look pro in this game.
The blue boomerang covers the entire screen
I bet everyone's happy games aren't so easy to beat anymore.
can't tell if serious
call me wrong but I think people nowadays prefer games to be easier so they can beat them
and also, ever heard of difficulty settings?
@@stuff5499 difficulty settings are lame, only hard should exist
@@Opanker_ "people's enjoyment is lame" is what you just said
@@stuff5499 nvm I changed my mind, either have Hard or Cheats mode
Source for the starting background art?
29:21 Wait..Ralph Belmond?
This is the japanese version, and in Japan his name is Ralph.
@@KrackosStorm is it bad I am glad they localized it to Trevor?
@@gilessaint-loup2426 nah, Trevor’s a better name imo
the music alone , KreyGasm
What level is this? Because the creature at 3:55 bottom stairs wasnt in my game. And I turned this game over many times.
It's the same Flea Man enemy but in the US version they used a different sprite.
Thanks dude.
Those devilish bunnies look's more menacing and cool than the flea man.
The "talking" animations are so funny in this game
the music sounds a bit different from the US version. still sounds great though.
That’s because it’s the FDS soundtrack from the Japanese version of the game, “Akumajou Densetsu”
This is the Japanese version. Konami had a special sound chip for C3DC that wasn't compatible with the NA/EU NES.
@@Kylora2112 they both used the sound chip, the nes was a stripped down version of the famicon system and had two less channels of audio as a result.
@@CrasherX2000This is not an FDS game. It's a Famicom game with a custom VRC6 mapper chip inside the cart that adds two additional pulse waves and a beefy sawtooth wave, not a floppy disk for an add-on console with a single wavetable chip inside.
19:06 Wow, I never saw that trick before. I wonder if it was purposeful or a stroke of luck?
Wait wait wait wait wait.
"Ralph" Belmont? I thought it was Trevor?
Ralph is his japanese name
What were the roman numeral boxes in the upper right corner for?
They allow Trevor and Grant to throw additional weapons without needing the previous ones to leave the screen. The Double Shot allows for two, Triple Shot for 3.
This isn't Castlevania 3 I can tell it sounds like akumojo demon castle Dracula 3

Yes.
Lmao that death,
I beaten this game before.. but it did NOT take me 26 minutes!!! More like 26 weeks lol
This game is mediocre but the VRC6 music and background art are outstanding.
Yes it's not scary at all but it's enjoyable.
No parallax scrolling is a shame though.

Watch out... Castlevania "anime" series about this game Trevor...
