i watched this video a year ago and learned short rows so i could knit my first pair of socks without an afterthought-heel. now i havent used short rows in a while and now im back to learn it all again haha thank you! :)

This was super helpful to go back and watch how Arne did the heel. I was struggling with a sock heel in a pattern that I haven't done before and after two hopeless attempts and holes everywhere, I watched the video on slow play back and GOT IT!!! The turning wasn't the problem, I was picking up the stich below the knit 2 tog in the wrong place. thank you thank you thank you!!

I have never been much of a knitter, because I'm too impatient! Crochet goes much faster for me. Knitting socks, I find very intimidating! You make it look so easy, Arne, I'm "almost" tempted to try. But then, everything is easy, if you know how! LOL If I ever did try, I'd end up with only one sock, I know I would!

I love the Pairfect yarn so much. I'm an advanced knitter, but I still love a chance to knit without thinking too hard. And the pattern comes out perfect every time with the socks matching. Love it! I have never done a heel like this one, but it looks fun and easy. I'll try it next time. Thanks A and C for bringing this video back. Hope you are enjoying your holiday.

The "One stitch before the hole" was the most helpful thing I've ever found about short rows! I never quite understood what they meant but that makes perfect sense!

I've never tried the Pairfect yarn, but I will some day! I suppose I should try DPNs again now that I'm a little more confident with my sock knitting.

My only doubt is with the pairfect wool, I used it once, but for a shortish leg I had to cut the wool otherwise I would not have the heel on the right place, but maybe in the middle of the foot.

Hello you two lovely people. Thank you for everything. I have a question about socks. When I finish the heel and need to start knitting in the round, there is a big, messy hole or gap right where the heel ends and the foot begins. Any ideas?

Is this the same technique that I've seen referred to as the German short row? Thanks for the helpful videos. P.S. I just received a hank of Regia Pairfect sock yarn in the summer colorway. I can't wait to use it.
No, with the German short row you knit right across the row then turn, slip the first stitch & pull the yarn tight so it looks like 2 stitches.
