Marly, I never knitted a sock so I had to watch this video 4 times, once without knitting and 3 more times second portion alway wrong. I've made good use of my life line let me tell you but it paid off I have finally succeeded first portion and the second portion.... on my 4th try while keeping my 2 stitch markers in place !

If I only had the command of my needles in yarn like you do, I fumble around so much it’s not even funny that I absolutely don’t believe I have any tension whatsoever but I love watching you.

Marley you picked the best music for this video I’ve learned so much from you and a few other people on this new tube area of knitting socks and I appreciate your choice of music and your articulation of how to make a sock. I did learn from another website that she was making small socksand I wished I just started out doing some thing like that with less stitches in possibly would’ve gotten further along but I still go back to yours when I want to do my German short hair at Roz and work on my heels so thank you so much. This is a great tutorial.

Well once again I was successful with getting another 'difficult for me' section. This is the first heel of a sock I've been able to get done and have it look right. I watched the video over and over, paused each section and then continued. Thank you Marly Bird.

Thank you so much for taking the time to show and explain each step as well as showing all of it and not just skipping ahead. You are slow and methodical, you don´t block the work with your hands and you explain very well. I have been able to follow along and have now finally succeeded in knitting a heel, and it was fun instead of frustrating. I really appreciate that you show the entire process. Thank you!

Hi Marly, frankly am a beginner sock knitter. I find your instructions clear. I made the first part, and that is an achievement thanks for your clear Tutorial and patience for explaining. I will definitely go over your video more than twice for the 2nd part, but it motivates me to finish the project. Appreciate very much all your inputs. Best regards from Germany.

You have done a fantastic job teaching this method. I have always been afraid of knitting or crocheting socks but I have started my sock now and am ready for the heel. I had to wait until I was 75 years old to do it but thanks to you I am going to finish and hopefully make many more socks. Thank you so much for these three videos. (and all other videos) I have watched them twice now and have the confidence to work on.

I've read the directions for German Short Rows before but your video was excellent and really clarified the directions. A picture is worth a thousand words. I learned the secret to no holes when rejoining the yarn to finish the top of the leg. Great idea!! Maybe a tutorial for how to make the socks smaller for those of us with very narrow feet and skinny ankles and legs. I need the length for a med foot and leg length, size 7 shoe but smaller diameter tube for foot and leg.

Marley, if you are wondering why your viewing numbers for this video have increased since December it’s because I am watching it over and over again. I have yet to master the sock, after starting and tearing out and restarting more times than I can even begin to count. I am not giving up. I wish I could sit with you one day and just get you to tell me what I am doing wrong. The videos make it look so easy.... for me it hasn’t been. I may be expecting perfection and it isn’t happening. I have gotten where I can knit in the same style as you and it feels natural, but that’s the most I can say for socks.... thank you, I will keep trying.

For the length of the foot, you just use your hand. Put the heel of your hand on the toe and your fingers along the foot. When you reach the length of your whole hand on the foot, start the heel. Never fails.

Marley you are very clear with your short row instructions and the heel does look so clean and neat and (hole free). I will try your instructions of the toe up sock with German short row heels. I just completed a sock (1) sock using a shadow wrap technique and it does not fit well at all, it left little wings on both sides of the heel. Now I don’t want to make the other sock because it just does’t fit well at all. What a waste of time. So I’m in a dilemma as what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I wish I knew when I started my toe up sock with new circulars that I should soak them to loosen the curl. I'm just finishing the toe and before I get to the foot I'm going to try to loosen the curl by soaking in warm water.. They've been fighting me every step of the way and it's exhausting. The good news I've mastered the cast on and the increases. So far so good.

Complete sock newbie here (only done a few scarves and hats so far): Is there a video that shows what to do if you drop an end stitch or two during the short rows (showing how to pick back up the double stitches correctly)? Or do you just have to rip out the work and start over again? I struggle with shaky hands at times and my stitches sometimes get bumped off the tip of the needle.

Thank you so much Marly. The first heel was a wooly-bear, but the second was MUCH easier. As usual, I try my best to make things harder than they really are. This is my first time using German short rows and I rather like it. I've done gusset before but I LOVE not having to pick up all the stitches. This is so much easier and fits very nice. Thank you for all your hard work and for your lovely disposition. I ALWAYS look forward to your cheerful encouragement. God bless.

Thank you for a math version of adjusting the heel to fit a bigger foot. My wife has Edema in one foot so she has a much bigger foot than normal I didn't do any adjustments to this first sock pair as they are for me but I am going to try the adjustments on my next pair ... I think I am an addict. I do have a question -- should we go ahead and work up the leg or should we wait for video 3

This looks easy but I’m having difficulties getting it to work out.
