To show you hes a true prodigy, Derrick Trucks was only 20 years old when he became the official replacement for Duane Allman in the Allman brothers band. And that was after playing with them on the road on and off for almost 5 years... he's one of the few people who I have seen be on the same stage as Warren Haynes and cause a debate on who's better.
You are so right... I had a double take when I saw your name. My best friend ever was named Danny Chavez. He passed away in 2007 from cancer at 60 years young. God bless you Dan, the MAN!!!
One of the greatest live bands touring today. Derek Trucks is her husband. Derek’s uncle was Butch Trucks, one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers. Can’t go wrong w TTB
Let's also give credit to Mike Mattison (the taller backup singer) for composing this masterpiece. And a heartbreaking goodbye to Kofi Burbridge (keyboard) who passed away just last year. When I hear that organ click on at the beginning, it just tears my heart out.
Thanks for the info. Didn't know it was Mattison's song. I was a big fan of the old Derek trucks Band - before he met Susan. Mike Mattison did most of the heavy lifting on vocals for the band. Beautiful voice
Can't remember where I read it but just the other day a music critic stated that Derek Trucks IS the best guitarist alive today! Yikes, but the more I listen I think he may be right. Best of many, many greats.
That song, Derek's guitar work and her voice just take me to heaven....listen to it almost every night right before I crash...makes for a relaxing beautiful way to close out the day!
They are one of those bands you MUST see live if ever given the chance! Susan sounds like an Angel, Derek sometimes just closes his eyes and jams, unbelievable. So glad the music gods put these two together❤
Derek Truck's uncle played drums for the Allman Brothers. Susan Tedeschi is his wife - she is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston. She has a great voice and he is an amzaing guitar player. You would love Make Someone Happy when they play with Santana.
This is the definition of what "American Music" is. The best or Rock, Soul, Blues and Gospel all together, played by some of the best musicians this country has to offer. A national treasure.
Never ever get tired of this track, just an amazing song - Mike who wrote it ( the backing singer) has written one of the greatest soul/Blues songs ever, you just want to hear it again and again ,beautiful😊
I love this version of this song. This is one of those songs that can make the whole world feel good. This is what music is supposed to do and that is to touch the hearts of all listening. The guitar solo can make you cry all kinds of tears. One of the greatest musical performances I have ever heard...and I have heard billions!!!
There’s a video of Derek Trucks with BB King where BB tells him to play a solo. After the solo BB tells him it’s one of the best solos he’s heard. You can see the jealousy in John Mayer’s face. Lol.
Jeremiah and Maggie Gutierrez yeah pretty sure John wasn’t jealous rather just happy to be on stage playing with BB . But I guess people will always find a way to hate on the guy.
This is one of the best bands ever, she is the wife of Derek Trucks, one of the most amazing slide players ever and the nephew of Butch Trucks, one of the drummers of the Allman Brothers band.
Them doing Angel from Montgomery/Sugaree... that's another that just goes. Features a great flute and great percussion and of course a Derek solo. Great live performance.
It's just like I always say: "Good music is just damn good music!" Music is a beautiful gift to us from the angels, because we struggle so much on this earth. What better gift is there? All my best to players of this gift, Derek, Susan and the band members, again Thanks! And Jamal thank you too!
I'm usually not one to have a celebrity crush but, I have a mad crush on Susan Tedeschi. Here's the strange part. I love the look on her face when she looks at her husband Derek Trucks plays. Look at the video of them playing the Eric Clapton song Any Day at The Cross Roads Festival and you will see what I mean. She's in love.
I had the good fortune to book her for a blues festival back in 1998, and everyone at this small town festival (myself included) was in awe. We all knew we were watching a star.
Hey was a beast at 12 years old you could probably UA-cam house what Gregg Allman and Gregg Allman comments on their trucks the check that out but have you seen what they do with BB King and Carlos Santana
Man, I love this song! It takes me back to a time in the sixties. What a great groove this band turns out... the voices, the keyboard, base, and that awesome slide guitar!
I have some of her music before the merger with Trucks, great blues performer. Anyway my kids took me to the Chicago Theater to see Tedeschi Trucks. Twelve people on stage, backup singers were award winners, musicianship out of this world. Great concert.
Brother...u need to see a whole concert live...its not just a show...its a walk through our musical history. From the fields to the cities..and back. An amazing gathering of talent and truth telling.
Jamal... I agree with you 1000%... YOUR OPENESS TO GREAT MUSIC IS AMAZING, I share that love of music with you brother... Peace and THANK YOU for your channel.... Nitram
This was one of Clapton's Crossroads Concerts, and was the first time I ever heard these guys. Around 2006 I think. First new band to turn me on in 40 years!
I’ve had an opportunity to hear Susan in 2006-07 in Santa Cruz, her husband Derrick with the Allman Bros and Government Mule, now I’ve seen TTB in TN, GA and at Red Rocks. Yes, they are a powerful musical force and do what they do better than anyone currently playing blues. Thanks Jamel!
Derek Trucks uncle was one of the 2 original drummers with the Alman Brothers Band. I saw them live 3 times in 1969 and 1970. Greatest Jamming performance ever.
Derrick Trucks and also the bass player played with the Allman Brothers Band, add them together with Susan=....Fantastic!! Keep it up with these great reaction videos👍😎
Just watched their video, anything Trucks. Jamal, your top five, your statement on your longevity on youtube, Stick with it brother you have a following. PEACE, LOVE, TRANQUILITY !!!! Semper Fi !!!
She is married to the guitar player, Derek Trucks who was in The Allman Brothers Band. He is an amazing slide guitarist. He is Butch Trucks nephew, the white drummer in The Allman Brothers Band. Side note, the black drummer in The Allman Brothers Band used to play for Otis Redding. The bass player in this video played in The Allman Brothers Band as well. He played with Derek in The Dereck Trucks Band.
There’s a lot of reviewers I really like out there. You’re the best man. You feel it. I’ve seen it 50 times and I was right there with you. Long time fan man
Derek Trucks has one of the sweetest most identifiable sounds with that guitar. I saw the Derek Trucks band back n the day before he was with Susan. Gotta see them live soon hopefully.
Saw TTB when they came to Philly. One of the Best concerts I've ever been to!!! TTB were Utterly Amazing! If you ever have a chance to see them live, do yourself a favor, GO!
Her husband Derrick Trucks in my opinion is one of the greatest slide guitar players.. he also played with the Allman Brothers
Derrick's uncle played with the Allman's He was A drumer. Sorry I can't recall his name
Butch Trucks
@@larrywelch9738 Thanks. I needed that.
This is not just your opinion

TTB is easily the best band touring today. Phenomenal live.
You are so right... I had a double take when I saw your name. My best friend ever was named Danny Chavez. He passed away in 2007 from cancer at 60 years young. God bless you Dan, the MAN!!!
I saw them in 2013 at the Savannah Art Center. Great Show!
This... is still a true statement....
True , have seen them twice !
@@danwiggins4662and still
This song is absolutely flawless
Totally agree
That is a band that professional musicians go to see. They are incredible.
One of the greatest live bands touring today. Derek Trucks is her husband. Derek’s uncle was Butch Trucks, one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers. Can’t go wrong w TTB
I was blessed to see them on Sea Island, Saint Simon's Island, Georgia a few years ago right by the ocean. The concert was beyond incredible!
Let's also give credit to Mike Mattison (the taller backup singer) for composing this masterpiece.
And a heartbreaking goodbye to Kofi Burbridge (keyboard) who passed away just last year. When I hear that organ click on at the beginning, it just tears my heart out.

Derek Trucks is one of the greatest guitarists alive today.
Can't remember where I read it but just the other day a music critic stated that Derek Trucks IS the best guitarist alive today! Yikes, but the more I listen I think he may be right. Best of many, many greats.
He had a pretty good role model in Skydog.
I just him last week on the level of srv
Susan has a voice made for the blues. Matched with Derek Trucks' guitar? INCREDIBLE!!!
Oh, and she can tear up a fretboard with the best of them.
Man that was good!
She kept turning around smiling, she was smiling because of her husband. That's called love.♥️
I can never get thru this tune without tearing up but they're tears of pure joy and happiness...hard to explain it.
This is a beautifully written song. Toss in her vocals, his slide, and you got Full-on Soul.

That my friend was Susan & husband Derek Trucks performing at the Crossroads Blues Festival.
I love this version of this song. This is one of those songs that can make the whole world feel good. This is what music is supposed to do and that is to touch the hearts of all listening. The guitar solo can make you cry all kinds of tears. One of the greatest musical performances I have ever heard...and I have heard billions!!!
Her singing live will put a tear in your eye, take it from experience..phenomenal band
That's the Tedeschi Trucks band. She merged bands with her husband Derek Trucks the lead guitar player. Strongest band on the planet currwntly.
Yes they are. Susan's singing and Derek's playing, with that band to back them. Just damn.
Especially when Oteil Burbridge is there
Definitely the best out there right now... they've got it all...
Without question.
Their studio version of “Anyhow” is incredible, beautiful . Nobody in their right mind could not like it.
This band is on top of the game.
Amazing 👍🏾
Incredible sound and group. If this groove don’t move you, nothing will
The transition from the solo back into the melody is so great in this performance.
Tears. Straight to my soul
this is their best song choice. love this song. this is a road band will definitely get your moneys worth to see them live.
There’s a video of Derek Trucks with BB King where BB tells him to play a solo. After the solo BB tells him it’s one of the best solos he’s heard. You can see the jealousy in John Mayer’s face. Lol.
Was going to bring this one up. For BB King to give that kind of praise to you, you know you’re good, but Derek is very humble.
Mayers face was priceless during that performance and when BB gave his praise. DT is such a banging guitarist.
Jeremiah and Maggie Gutierrez Love that vid! And who couldn’t love BB?! What an awesome human being he was! Very humble for somebody at his level.
I remember seeing that video. Also, BB couldn't stop flirting with Susan. It was a great set but him flirting with her was hilarious.
Jeremiah and Maggie Gutierrez yeah pretty sure John wasn’t jealous rather just happy to be on stage playing with BB . But I guess people will always find a way to hate on the guy.
They are fantastic and love her voice and you are so right music brings people together at 73 it still gets to my soul ❤👵❤️👍🎶
This was from Clapton’s Crosssroads Guitar Festival 2010, such an amazing performance. Pure gold!
Not too often you just watch without stopping. The really great artists will do that. Nice reaction.
It's just like I always say: "Good music is just damn good music!" Music is a beautiful gift to us from the angels, because we struggle so much on this earth. What better gift is there?

I named my J45 after her. It is a 1961, in cherry sunburst
First time seeing this band, never heard of them before. Thanks Jamel! Awesome!
I had the good fortune to book her for a blues festival back in 1998, and everyone at this small town festival (myself included) was in awe. We all knew we were watching a star.
And Oteil Burbridge on the bass...this is heaven. So happy you played this.
Thanks for all the great music you play.... especially love all the older stuff from my younger days. You're one of my favorites. Keep it up 🙂
The guitar player's an absolute beast. Great performance.
Hey was a beast at 12 years old you could probably UA-cam house what Gregg Allman and Gregg Allman comments on their trucks the check that out but have you seen what they do with BB King and Carlos Santana

Good music, makes my soul smile! Thank you!
Derek is the greatest slide guitarist to ever live (and thats saying alot with Duane Allman RIP), and Susan... her voice is of an angel.
You're right!! No other word but AMAZING~! ♪♫ ♥♪♫~ 💯
Grand daughter of Butch Trucks. OK, Jemel. NOW I feel old. And great to be here! Keep up the great work!
This was great. Love her voice
Just love this song! ✌🏻❤️ Great reaction, friend.
This is still (IMHO) the best band touring. They just keep gettin' better!
Derek Trucks is just amazing. One of the best I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of great ones.
I have some of her music before the merger with Trucks, great blues performer.
Anyway my kids took me to the Chicago Theater to see Tedeschi Trucks. Twelve people on stage, backup singers were award winners, musicianship out of this world. Great concert.
What a team Derek and Susan make!❤️
I see them EVERY time they come close to my town... in the 12 times range now, love this band. Fantastic.

An amazing guitar solo from one of the greatest.
That was as smooth as a drink of cool mountain stream water with a splash of Allman Brothers. Very nice
Derek is one of the best slide prayers anywhere and Susan's vice is just as good.I listen to TTB everyday four or five times a day!
Every time I hear this band I am moved emotionally. Gov’t Mule is another band that can get you going.
It’s subtle but the bass line is fantastic. Beautiful song!
Thank you for intro'ing me to another enjoyable band I hadn't heard of before. :-)
Jamal... I agree with you 1000%... YOUR OPENESS TO GREAT MUSIC IS AMAZING, I share that love of music with you brother... Peace and THANK YOU for your channel.... Nitram
I am really enjoying your reaction videos, as it is really cool to see other's reactions to some of my favorite songs/videos.
This was one of Clapton's Crossroads Concerts, and was the first time I ever heard these guys. Around 2006 I think. First new band to turn me on in 40 years!
The audience was so respectful - obviously as not here in the States.
A song and band that brings you back to your humanity...beautiful!
I like the way you put your thoughts in writing & didn’t stop the music & did your talking at end.
I have never heard of this band before but they are awesome
Thank you for not interrupting during the performance 🙏
Saw them in Raleigh Nc..Awesome..Guitar player her husband combined their groups..He is phenomenal too..
I had that song on my play list for a year. Listened to it three times a day .
