Small rivers can be hard to access and get to the better spots. I bought a kayak this summer and it opened a whole new world to me. Now I can get to spots that I couldn't reach by wading. A kayak is the way to go in small rivers for sure.
@@peelindrag113 we're on the opposite end of the spectrum then. Also, have any river recommendations in Michigan for pike? I have the misfortune of being stationed in Dayton, so my recent fishing experiences have been shit. A friend and I are looking at taking a trip up there this spring
Hey peelindrag, how do you attach that tippit with your leader? i use swivels but dont like that. Maybe drop it in a vid.? Nice streamers build them 2. It Works in Holland TO !! 😎
Nice flies ! I fish similar conditions in small rivers in Pennsylvania for Smallmouth Bass and Musky.. These flies would be great for musky. The fly looks great in the water and the sidekick action is perfect.
I have a question, my pike rod is an 8 wt. as I see yours is. I accidentally bought 9 wt Wavelength Titan line for it instead of 8 wt. Do you suggest I return the line and get 8 wt or keep it? Thanks- Ahren
I’m just getting in to fly fishing and I love it. Do u have any advice or essentials that I would need cause I honestly don’t wanna go into debt trying to get everything that has the word fly fishing in it
Generally pike are pretty active in cold water. Some people may have different experiences, but I catch them on big sucker minnows through the ice so I'm confident throwing big flies and lures in cold water.
Just found your channel. Very, very impressive! I particularly liked how you used the UV glue to shape your flies head. Can't wait to see what you come up with next
Nice streamer dude! Maybe you should try fishing the streamer AGAINST the current (all baitfish move with their head against the current) , that way you can fish it slower (while the current maintains the streameraction), and you will have way more control over your line ;-) . I wish you tight lines man!
I get a lot of ideas from various UA-cam videos and Instagram posts, but usually end up slightly modifying them from the original. When I'm tying the actual streamer it's just off memory though.
@@peelindrag113 Hmm, sounds interesting. I'm not sure I'm at that point yet but I'd like to take a stab at it in the future. Keep up the solid work mate, you've got a great channel here.
I'm 44 and I've never learned to fish, but watching your videos makes me think I should try it. I live in Alberta Canada where there are many good fishing spots. How can I learn on my own and maybe teach my kids?
Nice you live close to quality fishing spots. I would get books from the library that cover subjects on learning to fish. Also, UA-cam has many videos to help along the way. Maybe you have a neighbor that fishes locally. See if he/she would she some info. Your local sporting goods store or tackle shop can be of great service. There is a small amount of money to get started with basic equipment, then move up to better equipment as your experience warrants it. Fishing is incredibly rewarding in both spirit and function. Fantastic you want to involve your children! They hold the future of our environment in the palm of their hands. Help them to appreciate one of the most beautiful aspects of their lives on earth....the outdoors!!
Thanks for creating the videos! I just started bass fishing with a fly rod that I built and haven't been all that interested in making my own flies until I saw you make that giant fly! Can you do a step by step in making a streamer like that.. and target the teaching level for a newbie like me :) Thanks and keep at it!
Most of the bigger fish will move out of the tributaries into the main stem, if you Are fishing in a small tributary of a larger river, i would switch tactics and fish the larger river

the action of the fly at 7:25 was sick
owen tucker sooooo deadly
Must be pure satisfaction catching on a fly you have made yourself.
Just watching you tie that fly made a great video! Don't worry about the fishing, that's fishing!!!!! 😉👌👍
I'm glad you liked it! Its just nice to do some more catching every once and a while!
Great job tying that fly, that thing had fantastic action, no way Jose Pike can resist it, enjoyed it much keep trying.
Great tie!

You are a serious fisherman! Very nice tie.
Nice vice, nice fly.
God, watching you tie the big pike streamers is epic! Personally trying to learn myself, I'm mostly used to tying bigger bass flies. More please!
More to come for sure! I'm kinda the opposite. All I've really tied is large streamers.. gotta work on the smaller stuff eventually

Love the streamer fly you tied well done. works really well in the water
Cool video and fly. Gonna make me want to get back into it. I used to frequent Nomad back in the day.

Nice video pal. Just remember fishing isn't about catching fish it's about enjoying yourself on the river.
That's very true! Just gets hard to remember that when I'm trying to get good content out.
Hey, I remember you . Good to see a video from you.
Awesome!Love your pike fishing videos!❤❤
Thanks Paulina! Hopefully many more to come.
Another awesome video. Love the tie.
Love your videos man!
Love your videos, you inspire me to keep fishing
I'm glad to hear that! More videos to come for sure.
very nice tying
Oh man that fly is a tank!! Very nice pattern! I am sure an amazon peacock bass would take it!
Hello from South Korea! Nice fly fishing video!!
Thank you!
Good tying brotha, I tie a lot and it's great seeing you progress. Lookin good and keep it up 👍
Hi from Australia mate. Great fly and fantastic tail action. keep up the vids.
Many more to come!
Ive been subbed to you for a while and your fishing vids are my go to! Keep up the work and you deserve more views dude
Nice video man, the weather in the fall makes fishing hard until winter
Good video! Fishing has definitely been slow lately in Michigan. Cool that you at least got on a couple pike though!
I'm glad I'm not the only one! Thanks for watching man
For sure! Love your videos!
Not weighted?
I have a question, my pike rod is an 8 wt. as I see yours is. I accidentally bought 9 wt Wavelength Titan line for it instead of 8 wt. Do you suggest I return the line and get 8 wt or keep it? Thanks- Ahren
I'd return it. Having too heavy of line can over load the rod and make casting more difficult.
@@peelindrag113 Okay, thanks.
Josh, if the fish won't cooperate, come in out of the cold and do a full tutorial video on tying
one of your flies. Those look great!

Do pike slow down when it gets colder like 40-60°F? And does a bigger fly work better for pike when its cold?
Generally pike are pretty active in cold water. Some people may have different experiences, but I catch them on big sucker minnows through the ice so I'm confident throwing big flies and lures in cold water.
Hi just wondering what type of line you use. Flouro? Weight sixe
Everything is listed in the description
Just found your channel. Very, very impressive! I particularly liked how you used the UV glue to shape your flies head. Can't wait to see what you come up with next
What is between your fly line and the streamer? Fluro? If so, at how much lbs?
5' of 25lb tapered flouro leader and a 12" wire leader as well.

Thx simple way to tie Pike etc flies 😁
Saludos amigo pescador. Quiero felicitarte por tu canal de UA-cam. Te quiero preguntar. ¿que tipo de leader y tippet utilizas para la pesca de Pike?

Didnt even see this vid in my sub box a week ago. Otherwise I would have watched right away
Nice afternoon there.
How long did it take you to tie the streamer
30-40 min
Do u use floating or sinking line?
Floating in the small rivers. Usually sinking in lakes or larger rivers.
where can i buy these lures?
Do more fly tying video 👍🎣
how do the pike not bite through the line?
Steel wire leader
Is that fly hard to cast with an 8wt?
Nope, I've thrown much bigger streamers on my 8wt 👍
Peelindrag Thanks 🙏
Lots of baitfish spawn on shoals in fall. Bigger pike will follow them.
Most of the bigger fish will move out of the tributaries into the main stem, if you Are fishing in a small tributary of a larger river, i would switch tactics and fish the larger river
A few of the rivers do go into some larger ones, so I'd definitely like to get out near the mouths and around the deeper holes there. Fingers crossed!
Have you ever fished the Thornapple?
Yeah it's a nice little river I've just caught smallies and small pike.

The catch gets pretty sketchy this time of year, gotta take what you can get..that fly looks awesome though. Good job,!
It sure can. Hopefully things pick up soon! Thanks for watching.

Where in Michigan are you? I live in central Michigan!
I live in mid Michigan but try to fish all around the state.

There aren't any trout resivours around here that I know of, but I'll definitely be trying to get some in the rivers.
