Thank you, Jason, for this insight: I'm learning a great deal from each of your videos
Excellent presentation. You see what I would have missed. You've become one of my go-to guys for ideas. Keep up the good work.
I think that is an excellent idea. Helps from cutting too much off in the beginning, as I am prone to. Great tip.
This is awesome “put away the shears” thank you I’ve only done 2 junipers and the pressure to cut gets in the way of learning about the tree.
best guide for beginners!! LOVE IT
Beautiful little work
Thank you for the simplicity

I have one nursery stock juniper and will give your technique a try this weekend.

Wish I'd seen this before I cut into my poor Alberta Spruce! I have 3 trees arriving tomorrow, though, so definitely going to take this approach.

I have much of questions but my English not good to start communicating, thanks so helpful
Tnx a lot for inspiring me
Thank you
Man I wish I could find material like that around here
Thank you for an excellent video, very clear teaching points with awesome results. How old was the shimpaku you were working on?
Looking forward to more videos, stay healthy.
Apex design video!
Danke 👍🌳🌲
Hi man, nice work, appreciate your videos and suggestions or ideas how to do stuff. I usually overdo pruning and then end up with no branches to work. As you said, the top part is the hardest one, could you do video about apex?
Hey Jason! Thanks for your videos and all the knowledge you are giving to us. Unfortunately I couldn't complete the purchase on your shop because I couldn't find the option to ship to germany. Maybe this will be possible soon?
Very bonsai
Hi. Amazing work.... What's the best time of year to make a radical cut and wire a juniperus like the one in the video? Thanks, best regards from Portugal.
learning alot for beginner like me
I'd like to see you work on one that has a nasty 5 branch whorl right in the middle of an otherwise nicely shaped tree. I'd also like to see the whole process from nursery pot to roots to branches with seasons. I'm having trouble nailing down when to do what. Just got my plant and all I know to do is let it sit til spring. Or winter. Or fall?
Could you do a video like this but using Dwarf Alberta Spruce nursery stock? I am very interested to see what you would do with spruce!
Great demo Jason. How detailed do you go with wiring on the young junipers? For example, you used a fine wire on the branch you made the apex, maybe a 1.5mm. Did you go this fine on other branches, or did you just stick to larger wire on main branch? (Not sure if you use metric for wire sizing in the US?)
For small branch wiring please slowly demo one case.
Great vid. What time of year do u undertake this kind of of heavy pruning? Thanks
Where do you purchase your wire? I’ve never been able to find bundles of wire this big
How much root trimming did you end up doing? Bonsai pot right off the bat, or did you try to gain some strength by putting it in a larger pot?
I have trouble finding shimpaku juniper nursery stock on the east coast of the US.
I wish you never fast forwarded the wiring lol that's the bit I needed 🤣😭
Help me please my bonsai is dieing or its dead the leafs are yellow gray it has like a funges on it what can i do to save it or do i have to bury it
Una pregunta de aficionado nobel: ¿Cuanto tiempo tiene que trascurrir para retirar los alambres...?
Do junipers back bud easy ?
Great info.....
Yes, one of the many properties which make junipers great bonsai candidates.
Shear madness 😂
Can it be trimmed at every time of the year or is there a specific time?
Junipers can be trimmed any time of year, more drastic pruning is best done in the Spring, just as the new buds begin to form. For other species, the timing may be different. Maples, for instance, may bleed out & die if pruned very much in the Spring, when their sap is running.
love your videos but if you dont mind me being a bit picky, if you could put a light over your shoulder or above, sometimes its a bit dark and hard to see
many talk👎👎👎👎👎👎
Ew...it looks ugly.
