There's also NoCopyrightSounds for awesome electronic music.
But only if you use their not-so popular music. Using their popular stuff could make you look like you just searched for free music and choose the first one that came up. (Basically unoriginal music...)
+Summertail
Very true. In fact, I personally find most music on NCS to be pretty shit but there are still a lot of gems so yeaaaah.
I found them while searching for that one song Leafy used (It was a different time) RAW by San Holo.
FACT: All of the songs featured on NCS actually ARE copyrighted. See that (P) stamp on their iTunes releases? Yeah. That's the phonographic copyright symbol. Sure, NCS do let you use their songs in your videos for absolutely free (with credits and links neccesary), but it's a bit hypocritical that a channel called "NoCopyrightSounds" actually have their songs copyrighted.
The Creative Commons licensed are a perfect example, though it might take quite a while to find the perfect gem under those licenses.
I use their music, and to make it look like I actually try sometimes, I just try to fit the lyrics or song to the thing I'm doing
For more environmental things I REALLY enjoy finding other songs in the deepest internet
Thanks a million for including my music!
By the way, Creative Commons licenses are non-revocable. If tomorrow I bumped my head and turned evil, and decided that my music wasn't Creative Commons anymore, it wouldn't matter. Once someone has released their work under any Creative Commons license, it can't ever be revoked or moved to a more restrictive license. That might not stop them from trying, but you're legally safe (good advice on taking a screenshot, for situations like this).
That's an useful info, thanks.
Josh Woodward Made me laugh
Well I never thought I would see josh wooodward in the comments of this video
This is... mostly true. Strictly speaking, you can release your work under a more restrictive licence, but you can't stop people who got it under the old one continuing to use it under said old licence - and since that old licence includes the right to further distribute it under said licence... yeah. But if someone gets your work directly from you, under the new licence, they can't use it under the old one unless they *also* got a copy under said old licence from elsewhere.
Thank you so much for all your music! When my youtube channel kicks off, I'm planning on buying your bundle so I can support you monetarily. for now, thank you for making your music free to use. I just found your stuff today and I am planning on using a bunch of your instrumentals in a few of my videos. Your music is just so original!
3 words. No Copyright Sounds. They're a UA-cam channel that (As far as I know, since I've seen monetized videos use the music with no problem) allows for music on monetized videos as long as you leave a link to the song in the description of your video. This channel is a life saver , and I was surprised to see a pattern that they upload a song every two weeks, which is crazy! (But I guess they do have about 10 different artists working on the songs so that may explain it XD)
I've used no copyright sounds in my videos without credit, and I haven't seen anything pop up about it. I'm pretty sure they find songs, then make remixes of those and monetize the videos so they can make money. I love their channel though
San Holo is my favourite NCS artist tbh
*_I NEED THE CHANNEL N A M E_*
Undertale music in the background :3
I thought I recognised it
uh never noticed that
Yup! It's Mad Dummy's theme! (My all time favorite Undertale song!)
+Jamison David REMIXED!
i know.....BUM BUN BUN DA DUN DA DUN DA DUN XD
I feel like this copyright stuff is the only power we have as musicians against anyone lol
+Amalun3us
I totally agree. Music is taken for granted nowadays and this makes people discredit it's actual value. I'd rather see a million more takedowns than this depressing trend of our work being stolen and uploaded under a false name to then be monitized without our permition, and without event crediting us.
+Vocoded Glasses (Auro Prime) I had this one guy ask me for something and then proceeded to not credit me for it XD I'm like wtf
OMG, I hear dummy in the background!
I heard it! It's like a rock remix though.
FireLethrial Yeah, its a rock cover! :D
PlatnixFox C R I N G E
PlatnixFox YAS
theGAMINGnerd Cosplay and stuff no
This seems to be the place to ask these questions.
Think you'll ever do a video about the mystery skull animated videos
+MeisPip Next week.
***** Oh noice
+MeisPip Yay!
+Crowne Prince Sweet!!
I was just going to ask about mystery skulls
4:05 I would love to compose for animations! The concept makes me nervous and excited at the same time, since I'd be stepping waaay out of my comfort zone. But to actually SEE the music come to life in a visual form, and to actually experience the animation rather than watch it would be a reward in itself.
You can download old, pre-20's, sheet music & copy it note-by-note into a synthesizer program. There are websites, like colleges, Archive.org, & google books, which have sheet music archived. Only problem I see: the instrument recordings MIDI programs use may be copyrighted themselves. (Note: This is not legal advise; get a lawyer for legal advise, etc.)
Ross Bugden has some AMAZING copyright free epic / trailer music perfect for action movies x)
Thanks for sharing! I've used a few of these before, but there's many on that list I hadn't used before!
*confusion*
I'm pretty sure i'm following fair use laws. I gave credit to music that's free to use if I credit. I credited all three pieces of music, plus the original animation (I'm doing masters of FlipaClip). I still have copyright notices after saying, i'm making no money, I gave credit to everything and everyone mentioned, and it's free for the public to use if giving credit. In my video, I never claimed it, and said I won't make money off it.
Thank you for sharing! Greatly appreciated.
I heard napstablooks theme in the back. My day has now been made
Dummy! My favorite dog from undertale, it was hard to focus on what you were saying lol
This is perfect timing! People suggested I add music to my videos but I've been too scared to do that due to recent times with copyright claims for music. I don't monetize my videos but I still want to be careful.
the fan art you get awesome :)
Yes, I agree, I love the artists that put their time into these things!
DUMMY! OMG! I dont know if its a cover or not but it's awesome!
It's a cover.
Very handy video! I'll tuck this away for future reference. :) Thank you!
Excellent choice of bgd music, btw. Determination is a wonderful album!
There is a music producer called The FatRat. He makes great music, and it's royalty- free. My faves are: Monody, The Calling, and Fly Away (which you made a great MAP for).
Thank you for the educational video and helpful sites! I'm working on a animation for a school project that I have to submit to a competition. I was wondering if there are any special rules that apply to films that are being used for competitions? Or do the same rules for creative commons apply for a non-profit use?
Same rules apply for non-profit use. In reality though, you can get away with a lot as long as you don't post the video to a site like UA-cam. Even if you did, the most likely outcome is that you can't monetize the video.
If the competition is between multiple schools, there may be rules forbidding use of copyrighted songs without a license anyway. It's not likely, but possible. Read the fine print!
NCS or NoCopyrightSounds is also a good place ^-^
Thanks for sharing this stuff. My friend and I are looking into this stuff for a project.
UNDERTALE MUSIC REMIX!!!!!!!!
In case you didn't already find them, there's an entire UA-cam channel dedicated to noncopyrighted music. ua-cam.com/users/NoCopyrightSounds They upload for the sole purpose of "providing creators with the finest sounds to enhance the creativity and popularity of their content, safe from any copyright claims or infringement".
Can't find legal music... why not pick up an instrument and make some of your own! But seriously, this video is very well done and brings up some extremely valid points, 10/10 for that! XD
Oh God, *thanks for saving my life!!*
I just found these awesome musics I can use for animations!!
**hears the undertale music, mad dummy remix**
OML YYAAAAAASSSSSSSS
Ohh! Thank you so much for the advice! I used music that UA-cam editing system provided, then the copyright notice thingmabober labeled my video as copyrighted content. Next time, I look up and see if the music is free to use or not.
This is SO helpful! Thank you for doing this
Actually, in the future, I would love to sell custom scores and produced music to animators! For the time being, I'm only making content for @ParnellAnimation. Though this will most liking change come this upcoming May when I graduate from my MA thus having more time to work on more projects with more polish!
I hear...
Undertale music?
Incredibly useful information. Thank you!
This made me want to go through my favorites of Undertale now.
xD
Thanks for the info, though. Might have to use stuff like that if, and when, I start making videos if I decide to be too lazy to make music.
thanks using this now, gracious
Did anyone else hear the angry dummy
freemusicarchive is one of my favorite.. well, radio. I use it as a radio and I really find nice music I fell in love. Some of them are in my telephone (used as mp3)
you should do a scribble kibble on mystery skulls animated ghosts
+Fallen Blood Next week.
+Crowne Prince YES!!! Thank you. :)
Thanks for this video finding legal music is a pain.
Is that ghost fight from undertale in the background
it's actually "Dummy!" from undertale, remixed by RichaardEB.
I honestly feel like classical music is VERY underrated. It fits very nicely with most videos. One example is a 3D pen UA-camr called Sanago.
in reference to 0:22 :
A lot of Kevin MacLeod's music may be easily recognizable because of it's widespread use across youtube; it can be especially helpful for smaller projects that can pass by with something a little easier to find- not to mention a very large portion of his work isn't even used much across youtube. usually its the same 10 or so songs that see a lot of use, but he has literal thousands of songs made explicitly to be used by people who need them. With a little digging on his UA-cam and website; you can probably quickly find something no one has used before among his newer pieces.
tldr: It might be good idea to not count Kevin MacLeod's work out.
LittleVMills (ua-cam.com/users/LittleVMills) always states that he allows people to use his music, as long as you give credit. ToxicxEternity (ua-cam.com/users/ToxicxEternity) also gives the same permissions, as do many other artists in the video game music community - check 'em all out. :D
+R9000 Thanks!
+Crowne Prince i personally did not know you liked metal... heh the more you know i suppose, i too love both Vmills and Richards style of metal
BronyOfTruth Legendary As far as I know, Prince is a small white-and-lavender dog with a very nice voice, so very little about them surprises me.
Gaaaah your wolfy OC is adorbs!!
Crowne Price, thank you so much for what you do, I've never found so much information about animation in one place and so much appreciation for it. I have two animations to recommend, I don't know if either are scribble kibbable, but they're both amazing to watch regardless.
1. "There She Is!" by SamBakZa - A Korean 5 Part Wordless animation not unlike the animated Mystery Skulls Series
Link on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/WsWgrf3XLKQ/v-deo.html
2. "Gildedguy Vs. Jade" by Gildedguy - Yes it's a fighting video, but it happens to be far better then a fighting video, and is one of the best stand alone animations I've ever seen, it's synced to the music beautifully and has a fairly good premise.
Link on UA-cam: https: ua-cam.com/video/DYwaCbt4KMc/v-deo.html
How awesome, thanks for the video. I was wondering where you find some music, been wanting to find some music for free to play flash games.
this helped me lots! :D glad you made this video :D
*Nothing is free.* Keep that in mind. Especially when it comes to art. You wouldn't expect a visual artist to make you a free painting without you having to pay for it would you? Get someone who makes your music that way you get exclusive access and you can be 100% sure that you can use it *forever*.
If you just look for royalty free music it is sometimes *stolen* from other musicians and thus not actually royality free.
This has even happened with a certain movie which used music from SeamlessR who put up his song for free but not for commercial use. However someone downloaded this particullar piece and reuploaded it on a royalty free music website where the creators of the movie found it. In the end they had to pay SeamlessR a lot of money aswell as that, the guy who uploaded the music on the website without the musicians permition got sued.
And if you *do* choose to use actual royalty free music, credit the artist or you're commiting a crime aswell. And you are destroying royalty free music by doing so. Also do your research! Contact the artist directly if necessary so you can be 100% certain it is *his* music.
It annoys me that no form of art is as taken for granted as music.
I think 0:23 is the very _2nd time_ I've ever heard that _outside of_ "Terrible Writing Advice." The first time was a still image with the title of the song (Monkeys, Spinning Monkeys by Kevin MacLeod) and a link on where to download it.
_On the other hand, I SWEAR I've heard the music at __4:15__ before..._
gotta love the dummy cover in the background XD
Thanks for the Josh Woodward website, lol!
I think jazz in Paris is one of the best no copyright songs ever.
Thank you very much Crowne :)
There are also entire channels that make themed music that is entirely free to use!
this was helpful. thanks. i actually like Kevin MacLeod.
The music is dummy by undertale XD
welp ghost fight is free since
...
4:17
is that.. mad dummy theme???????
epic
YAY! TMBG allows stuff for creative commons!
oh and one more thing THANK YOU I (in time) will finish making my channel!
Thanks this is super useful
I lov that Dummy song Crowne Prince! ;3
OH NO IT'S GUTS MAN! *BRRR DRRRR sound effect* Such a great sfx imi going to have to look for a reason to use it in one of my videos.
Thanks for sharing those ^^
Usually my goto site is Incompetech but like you said, the more the better. I'm also subbed to a bunch of YT channels that provide sound effects and sometimes music. You could do a similar video on sound effects.
I recommend Jojikiba, SoundFXNow and SoundEffectsFactory
Oh the undertail music... I cants stops listenings
MAD Dummy's theme in the background!
As far as I know, NoCopyrightSounds on UA-cam provide free music with no copyright labels on them. But like you mention, they might change their minds someday.
Ohh crowne !! tysm for this info !! :0
FINALLY! ANOTHER SCRIBBLE KIBBLE!!! What took you so long! Other than animating! You said you would upload weekly! It's been weeks! Also have u checked my emails?
+Outlawed Pizza The only week I skipped was last week. I had an animation I needed to finish for someone that took priority.
***** oh ok sorry
***** did you still get my emails?
UA-cam has announced that when a video is flagged, the potential revenue will be accumulated in limbo while the flag is sorted out, then whoever the owner is gets all the backlogged money.
It only took forever to create this policy and they still have a long way to go, but it's a big step in the right direction.
0.59 - C...FU...Oh, madam Crowne Prince, you bad-mouthed scamp, you! Trying to sneak in a swearword I see. You naughty little wolf! Goodness gracious! XD
Sheesh I can't believe people assaulted you! You are so amazing and creative and so much better than me. You give me so much help for my terrible animations.
I emailed with a musician named Thastor, who is also a youtuber, about using his music. He says anyone can use his music for any video they want with credit. There are two songs though that can't be used for money though.
Loving the undertale music!
my way of looking up good music is typing into youtube uncopyrighted music, and find out for myself what is and isn't copyrighted by using the music...i haven't gotten a strike on my channel yet...so that's a thing that is good :3
Thanks for the links.
Jukedeck is a royalty free site that has tons of music created by a literal AI. it's really useful for loop music and they have many genres. You could try it out and let us know how it went
I just remembered my whole mad dummy fight... ( it was PAINFUL) XD
If you want free good music, I suggest checking out Pon3 music. 2 of his best pieces called Night after Night and Nostalgic aren't on his youtube channel anymore, but you can still find them reuploaded and free to use.
Do Felix colgrave's "Fever the Ghost"
No Copywrite Sounds (NCS) is a good one.
Somehow I Read It As "How To Find Illegal Music For Videos"
I Got Confused
Pretty informative video on what has been always seemingly vague to me as a person who occasionally edits stuff and posts on UA-cam. Though, I would have to ask, if I modify music in such a way that it doesn't sound anything like the original, does it count as parody? How about sampling sounds just to make something dumb?
+ValorZeroAdvent Sampling to make something (like sampling small bits of quotes, lyrics, famous bits of songs for purposes of remixing) *may* be fair use if the new creation has significant originality to it.
If it's just dumb and for fun, go for it.
As for parody, most people are wrong about what they think would qualify as parody, since the legal definition is a lot more narrow than the general idea of parody itself. I wouldn't categorize it as parody unless the thing you create is clearly mocking the original.
If you haven't seen the Fair Use episode and you want to get a real grasp on it: ua-cam.com/video/gYPSz7H3Q3I/v-deo.html
"Creative commons" music wolf.
... I am so intrigued right now. FIRE UP THE GOOGLE!
argofox has some pretty cool music
You could try purple planet, they have a few free songs and only ask that you credit them the way they ask.
There's a UA-cam channel called "No Copyright Sounds" that lets you use there music as long as you say what song and give credit to the channel and maker
There's a simple disclaimer you can use to get around the copyright problem. Just say :The music in my videos is a random sequence of 0s and 1s. Any similarities to existing works of music is entirely entirely coincidental.
I'm pretty sure they don't teach probability in law school.
you amazing you Good teacher excellent way
Thank you :)
DO AN EPISODE ON EDDSWORLD! :D
To be honest, I prefer to make my own music but if I can’t then I like to use the sburb ost. You can use it if you give credit and don’t monetize.
Didn't they just fix the copyright problem? Great timing. XD (for the joke at the end)
+Riley Freeman
If you are a musician, and someone steals your song, uploads it on a CC forum under a false name and you don't know about that, then come accross some video with millions of views which had this particullar piece in it, without having asked for your permition and without crediting you, trust me you'd rightfully claim that video. That's the issue that is being described here. Not musicians claiming videos because they're assholes, but because assholes oftentimes steal their music or just use it without even crediting them!
Making music is a lot of work, and not getting *anything* from that work and seeing others making money with it is frustrating. So I am actually *happy* about the fact that more and more musicians take down their creative common license because that's the only way this madness will stop.
I'm taking about the bit at the end where she Crowne joked about false copyright claims. Then I sarcastically said it was great timing for the joke. I guess I should have cleared that up.
im going to subscribe! :3 this is a cool channel!
Undertale Music.............YYYYYYYAAAAAAASSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
[EDIT] Toby Fox's music from Undertale you can use (from the original game or OST)
If I were to go dig through my library of resources in the sound category, I can dig up a few things you may enjoy in the department of music. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to organizing my system of links yet so I managed to pull up two resources that weren't on your list already that you may enjoy. The first is this website: freepd.com/ . The organization of music on this sucker is rather well done considering it IS a public domain repository site (adding repository or archive to your creative commons or public domain search works wonders sometimes so give it a try if you wish).
The second one isn't so much a music site but rather a sound site: soundjax.com/ . While not exactly what you asked for, sound design in animation is just as important as background music composition. A swish sound as your tail moves from the left to the right side of the screen but at a volume so subtle that it can be easily ignored if potentially irritating to some while enjoyed by others (consciously or otherwise) because of the sheer existence of it. A pay hitting the ground as you put your paw down would be another example. Subtle sound design and the whatnot is what i"m getting at. Oh, using the channels for stereo mixing is also such a wonderful thing as well. A shame more people don't pay attention to that particular aspect. I hope that does you well and justice.
Rock n roll Spider Dance.
you should do a video on Mysteryben's Mystery Skulls-Ghost MV!
The NCS channel has a lot of good music!
Hey, i use The Musical Ghost for free music. Has great electro swing!
I use UA-cam royalty free music I kind of like "touchpoint"
