Going back 50 years, I worked on the pipeline in Avonmouth a pipeline could be picked up from the seabed in Redcliffe Bay pump to Shore into storage tanks. It was then pumped across country and through Tickenham Hill. I will come out the ground near Blackwell. There is a rail siding there it would be pumped into rail tanks and distributed around the countryside. There is a tunnel going through that hill in Eastern Gordalno just tall enough for a man to go through and under the motorway One of my jobs was to clean out the valve pits on the way they were in the middle of the fields There were four big boys in the sea, where a ship would park in the middle and pick up the pipeline From the seabed There was a Royal Navy sea yard in Yate. It’s now a testing centre for cars and lorries. Who we were for was the pipeline agency. I worked on depots in Swindon and the underground one near Gloucester. I did a lot of tank cleaning for the government storage agencies.
air craft use tons of fuel judge how many tankers dont turn up at heathrow every day. the pipe line is marked like safe places for huntsman to clear fences thats what country people know of.
John Penny 4 years ago It's so important, the Government sold it to the Spanish, deal done on the last budget day so few people would notice. God help us. Is there anything of ours left? See 'Private Eye' for the facts.
Similar hidden runs are used for Govt Fibre Optics! I broke one of those a while back whilst excavating the foundations for some warehouses in an Oxfordshire town... the site had over 30 armed troops on it within the hour and enough police to all but shut down one half of the town. The fibreoptic runs are on old railway lines shut by beeching (for the most part) and are unmarked, but they do follow a setting out discipline so as to make them 'findable'. Go to a late 19the century map showing the old train lines, find the banking and military bases around the country and 'notice' where there is missing development that cosies up to an old Railway line... tha WILL have a fibreoptic (or newer tech) connection. Thank god temorists are stupid eh!
Having worked for a Petroleum Co, it's quite interesting how many pipelines there are, and how they transport multiple fuel products through them.
Some pipe lines show up when it snows lightly. The ground is slightly warmer at the pipes.
One of these pipelines ran through the village that I grew up in, in Surrey, everyone knew about this in the 1970s…..🥸
And the NAPHTHA line running alongside the Manchester Ship Canal ?? North bank . Chase that one across the north 😢

Yes. Very strange.
Always remember to remove cat before flight
How does the fuel move when it’s in the pipeline? What pushes it?
Pumps would be the obvious answer.
2:28 Heathrow "...1200 flights a day" Not any more !!!
Well pipes are more efficient then truks
Good old bbc now every one knows. Really makes me wonder..
Remember when they gave the argies crucial information during the Falklands war ,smh.
How is the condition of these pipelines? Large parts of the system are still from the first period. Is it a ticking Time bomb for environmental damage
Hello BBC
Now sold to a spanish company.

Too dramatised. But interesting.

I've got an idea. Let's show potential terrorist groups maps of our underground fuel pipelines, tell them all about it.....?
Ipep lines you mean
this also misses out PLYMOUTH and FALMOUTH .
