How Much Fuel Does A Boeing 747 Hold?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- The Boeing 747 is one of the most recognizable airplanes in the world. Its long range and high passenger capacity allowed airlines to open up new and previously unserved direct routes worldwide. Since production began in 1967, over 100 customers have purchased 1,574 examples, logging more than 118 million flight hours across almost 23 million flight cycles.
The aircraft continues to fly on some of the longest routes in the world, carrying with it thousands of gallons of fuel to keep it aloft. But exactly how much fuel is this? Let’s find out!

I'm more surprised at the capacity of the Olympic sized swimming pool!
The 747 was the most beautiful plane to ever fly the skies ❤
not "was", "Is" the most beautiful plane to fly in the skies! The jumbo will be flying well into the 2060s
For me it's Concorde. Closely followed by the Spitfire and Mustang!!
Agree!
It's really difficult for me to believe that these airplanes are carrying so much fuel.
I love the 747!
I dumped 40 metric tons last week over the Pacific prior to diverting to NRT...
No worries, they will put it in your next payslip 😮
You dumped the equivalent of 8 african elephants? Are you serious??
@@dancCONSTANT Yes, it's true.
@@KarmaFlight there is no way a wing can hold 100 tones of fuel.
@@dancCONSTANT The airplane holds 163 metric tons total which is spread out between 7 tanks.
How stunning ❤🥸😮
You mentioned 747-8i and 747-8f differences.
But no difference between 747-400 and 747-400ER?
2 optional tanks in the cargo hold, each holding 3,240 gallons. Same for the ERF. Also not mentioned are the 100SR and 300SR, with lower capacity, 200B with more capacity, and others
The 747 could really go anywhere. But more impressive than its fuel capacity, is the the engine power it has to take off and fly with all that fuel. Imagine lifting over 900,000 pounds of plane off the ground and climbing high and flying at over 500 mph. That is absolute brute force.
it's lift from the wings. not pure engine power. 240,000 lbs of thrust total from the engines on the latest ones, first version had 160,000 lbs of thrust total
Funny how that couldn't be possible with those few of tires
There is no way it lifts that mass. Something we are not being told there
Where does all the fuel go?
The queen of the skies is what lead me to love aviation ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Is the king's place reserved for the A380
Yeah I thought they could put fuel in the tail also to help with CG requirments also👍. Thanks. Cool video
Yes, they mentioned the auxiliary tank in the horizontal stabilizer at the end of the video.
That's insane but i think it's cool👍. Seeing the 747 4 times from my own eyes but never flown on it and i know time is running out.
On B747-8F
Full weight around 448 tons
Zfw is 113 ton
Fuel capacity 192 ton
Payload 143 ton
Simply impressive....
Liked to know how the 747 400 differed from the 747 400ER
Hi , just did the Calcs,..they sure need those Business Class & First Class Passengers to kick in extra for the Fuel. ❤
How does that equate to the weight of the fuel to the specific varient's weight?
Also how does that compare to the rated range of each and compared to other long range aircraft
I would like to fly with Jumbo once time 🙃
Immense fuel capacity! ⛽
Forgot about Qantas - 400ER.
The a380 holds over 70k gallons maybe more. That’s enough to fill the 53 foot vans on 2 standard 18 wheelers.
That's a lot of fuel!
What is the minimum of fuel at landing
What about 747 sp
About 51500 gallons. If I recall correctly about 343,000 LBS was the max.
@@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 thank you
Can you imagine how long you would be at the gas station filling it up
Not enough to fill up at gas station
Gas stations in the US pump at 10 gallons per minute. It would take about 81 hours for you to fill up the 747 at a gas station
how about the 747-400ER ?
😮😮😮😮😮
✈️
Yes but how much fuel per seat mile?
Does it mean that the latest models use more fuel than the elderly types, or can they fly a longer distance? If yes, how much less fuel are they using in comparison to the elderly types? Does anyone know?
Google, Wiki or ChatGPT will know.
iconic
Dang
Are you talking US gallons or Imperial?
Metric gallons 😂 Just calculate using the liters!
Ok but we're do they put all this gas in mean inside or under the airplane the wings hmm
Return 747
Short answer: A lot
Most awaited
Hi
Very inefficient aircraft in today’s standards.
Not enough, in the opinion of some conspiracy theorists.
As a certified conspiracy theorist, I guarantee the 747 doesn't hold as much fuel as they say.
i never fly boeing more. disgrace of company!
Average Boeing hater be like
think twice before flying Boeing!
yawning emoji
The aircraft are safe across all Boeing planes
@@mohwybar5832 Lol
747 is so overrated I am glad it’s goeing
That’s because you don’t really know what it can do.
it's a wonderful plane, production lasted 54 years. I was there on the first 5 for certification
