I’m with you in liking a “matte” finish on the flowers. It makes them much more realistic. Every time I see a poppy it brings me back to my childhood when my mom grew them in her garden. Now, that amazing mind of yours needs to dream up a way to display them in yours and your moms garden. Stay amazing and beautiful!
Hi my lovey, oh! My Goodness! Totally amazing. Wow, it looks so much fun. It opens up a whole NEW form of resin art. Just on thing I disagree with you on is the bubbles in the water - I think it adds to it, if you top up the water in a vase - you see bubbles, sorry Lou my dear friend but I think the whole thing is fantastic. Love love love it. XX
ESPECTACULAR.....!!!!!
What a brilliant way to make flowers! I haven't used resin yet but I was wondering if it would be possible to apply some green tinted resin to a fine cord or twine, hang it in a glass of water and pour more resin down the coated thread to form a thicker stem? I got the idea from dipped wax candles, just wondered if a kind of combination of the two techniques would work. Thank you for sharing, your flowers are absolutely beautiful.
This technique is fantastic as centers for painted sunflowers 🌻 I can’t remember who did this on their channel but it was gorgeous! They are gorgeous Louise, I love how your brain works
Thank you Kasie, yes I saw someone try it with sun flowers after I had done my first iron filing video. I think it was Jules Madison, she loved the effect.
Lovely! It’s a great way to do poppies, which have such tissue-like petals . If you have only your own camera phone to film, why not try using a magnifying glass to show close-ups? I would definitely suggest showing from the top and then from the side. For the raised features, a side view will demonstrate the height better than a top view.
What if you floated a gum paste flower petal cutter on the surface? I'll bet it would fill the shape and you could then have separate petals to work without needing to cut bits. 🙂
I used to buy premixed and coloured resin (dipping resin) for making flowers. I would make wire frames, dip in the resin colour and leave to dry (cure), then make up flower and leaf shapes. The resin formed a skin over the wire. Don’t seem to see it now. But you could make up your own and then dip into it.
Lovely. I was happy to see you using the filings. I had a thought about them before but with epoxy and bar magnet see the kind of different patterns that could be made, so it would be nice to see more ideas as I'd never got round to trying it, too many other ideas floating round x
That is so amazing! It was so much fun to watch. Especially the centers of the flowers "blooming". I could watch that over and over again...how it wiggled before you cured it too!
That's awesome! I didn't know you could do this with uv hard resin. I use uv soft resin bc it's easy to cut like this. You should try that type of uv next. I love it. Thanks for sharing this.
Loving your work, think I'm in the same stage of my resin work and experimenting with it, love the magnet trick. When I've finished using the artist brush i just squeeze it with finger and thumb with some kitchen towel the resin comes out and it doesn't matter if the light gets to it then, hope it helps
Oh my goodness, your poppy is perfect, and so natural looking. I really need to get hold of some UV resin. My husband runs the 306th Bombardment Museum, and I think one of these on display would be beautiful. thankyou for sharing
You are amazing, you never fail to make me “wow” whenever I watch your videos. Very clever using the iron filings. You are modest, funny and make wonderful videos. Don’t change or worry about the lighting etc, as it’s all part of your wonderful and endearing charm. Thank you for sharing with the world 💋.
Oh my goodness, you are amazing! Thank you for this (& the balloon resin pour) video!!! Steve McDonald recommended your videos, said you had great ones, & he was so right! I'm now a HUGE fan of yours as well! Can't wait to watch more of your videos. Thank you!
Actually the bubbles in the little vase made it look more realistic because when you put flowers in water, they do bubble a little... especially tulips..
Just watching this again. Stunning work and I can't find anyone else who's done this on UA-cam. I really must give it a go and make sure I credit you on the video
Wow! What a genius invention resin on water! I love it. Looks so real poppy flowers and the magnet, incredible 👏👏👏thanks for sharing your wonderful resin invention 🥰💗
What an amazing technique for a stunning flower, poppies are my favourite so I'll definitely be trying this and just hope it will be as beautiful as yours. Thanks for sharing your innovative ideas! 💡
Hold the UV light further away the closer the light the hotter it gets it does tack longer to cure but it stops it from over heating and causing bubbles. Love the poppies but your right doing the second layer of UV make them look a little fake. Try adding a 3rd layer of watered down paint to remove that plastics look. Other than that they are pretty
Thank you so much. I really am lucky to have a job where I can do what I love. It was a big gamble to leave my regular job to create content full time but it really does bring me joy.
HI Louise, Only one thing I can say Genius 🤗 Who would’ve thought U.V. Resin in water Louise, you are an absolute Genius WOW WOW WOW what an end result stunning you are so clever thank you for sharing love Lin ❤️✨ Hope Honey is do ok ❤️
Thank you. A second layer wouldn’t spread the same as the first without contact with the water so it would need to be painted on. It’s best to shape it whilst thin and then put the second layer on. Thank you for a good question.
Wow. My brain just exploded! These are just beautiful and you’re right. There are so many applications this could be used for. I’m afraid it’s going to take an imagination better than mine but I will definitely be trying at least the resin in water. I’ll have to look on Amazon to see if I can find your other supplies. Thank you so much for sharing this idea with us all. 🤟🏼🤍
Wow! I just love your creativity. That is an amazing idea. If you like the more matte finish of the paint on the flower, might I suggest using a matte UV polish top coat? 😊
Amazing❤! I, too use UV resin & a paint brush. I've found that my brush cleans up nicely with a baby wipe & alcohol then it's as good as new for the next time I need it. Thank you. 😊
Thank you Nathalie, I think I put it in my Amazon storefronts (links in description) but you can search for iron filings on Amazon and you will find it.
So intelligent, it certainly makes a base for many new ideas, as you say

Fabulous Louise, you never cease to amaze. Congratulations 👏
This is amazing Louise, I don't know where you get your ideas from but please keep them coming. Many many thanks 😘😘🦋🦋
I love that u put them in the small container!!!!
This is absolutely amazing for you to ever think of this is so crazy, it like wow. Congratulations
Not only are you an amazing artist, but a very good teacher. Thank you.
that technique for making the inside of the poppy is genius! Thank you for all these tips.
Thank you Angel x

Aww thank you so much Linny. I know what you mean about the bubbles actually, I just wanted people to be aware of it. You are so supportive 😘😘
What do I think? I think it’s genius! Can’t wait to try it.
The Marco Polo of resin art!
You've really gone beyond the known universe, especially the "resin hates water" dictum.
Keep up the great experiments!
Thank you so much Rebecca, I think of it as a challenge when people say something can’t be done 🤣 They’re usually right though 🤣

I think she has a brain the size of a house, and more talent any one person should be allowed. X

That's amazing, Louise. Well done ❤❤❤
I've been wondering what kind of UV resin would be the best to use, I'm glad to see that this one works so well and comes out so clear.
Oh, brilliant! You gave me an idea for my acrylic poppy paintings, to make that center like you did, and resin it in the center! Thank you.
I just love this cute and clever project and the cool techniques that produced it. Lovely, thank you!
How clever to think of this. The poppies are beautiful. I prefer the matt look too.

Brilliant idea Louise, might try baby oil in bottle and just try to seal it with resin x
Thank you, that’s an interesting idea!
What a fun idea. I've watched another artist use the iron filings in epoxy resin and it was awesome. There is so much scope for creativity with it.
What if you floated a gum paste flower petal cutter on the surface? I'll bet it would fill the shape and you could then have separate petals to work without needing to cut bits. 🙂
That sounds like an interesting idea. Thank you
I don’t know how you come up with these ideas. They’re great!
thats wild, I was always told resin hated water.

Sorry for the delay in responding. It is so funny that you should say that because I’m in the middle of making a video where I do just that!
Also, I think the bubbles work in the bottle, as cut flowers always create tiny bubbles along the stem.
This video will make you happy, even if you arent into resin.
You could use a matte UV resin over the paint. Love this idea! 💡
I love your creative thinking and your adventurous process
Lovely.

How very clever. Those little flowers are delightful 😊
Cool technique! Another thing you could make is teeny tiny miniature wine glasses. Or margarita glasses.
This is so cool! Poppies are my favorite flower!!!! Gorgeous.
Wow! Louise you blow my mind!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. ❤️
I think you are one of the most talented people I’ve ever seen. ❤️

Thank you, I’m the same, I never get tired of watching the magnet magic.

Wonderful technique louise.really loved the way u taught.
What a beautiful display! Thank you so much for sharing!
if you like the matte look on the petals why not do a thin coat of resin to protect the colour and then do a coat of gel matte top coat
Loving your work, think I'm in the same stage of my resin work and experimenting with it, love the magnet trick.
