Thanks for the video. This is what I found for passive vs active healing: (long post, TLDR at bottom)
    Scenario:
    > Healing 6 Rexes (high-level, imprinted, HP mutation stacked)
    > Daeodon level 209 (non-bred, non-imprinted) food tank=21.8K
    > Daeodon being fed from trough
Passive healing (1 dino at a time):
    > Auto heal triggers after Dae gets at least 100 food (not exact, but always more than 100 - usually a bit more for the auto-pulse to happen)
    > Always consumes all food with each pulse (if you let the food tank fill before turning on passive healing, it will still consume the entire food tank)
    > Always heals only one dino
    > The length of the healing buff is consistent each time it triggers and the amount of HP healed is the same, regardless of the amount of food consumed (In my case, this was about 11K HP for each pulse)
    > Assuming minimal non-full tank, HP gained/Food consumed ~= 100
==> Conclusion: It's better to passive heal from an empty food tank than a full food tank to conserve food.
==> Conclusion: If you use passive healing, having extra food stat for the Dae is not an advantage and can be a disadvantage since if the food tank is full, it will consume extra food with no additional healing performed.
==> Weird observation: The passive healing pulses were only effective every OTHER pulse. No healing would occur on the non-effective pulses. This slows down the healing and wastes food (although it's only consuming ~100-150 food with each pulse)
==> Weird observation #2: If I force feed the Dae to 100 food after the healing pulse, the every other failure of the healing pulse described before no longer happens. This is sort of a hybrid version of active and passive healing.
    Active healing (AOE):
    > The healing effect uses food in the Dae's food tank. The more food in the tank, the longer the AOE healing buff persists and the more HP is healed in each dino. In this case, more food in the Dae's food tank means more HP healed.
    > With a full food tank, I was getting a little over 4K healing per dino (4K x 6 dinos= ~24K total HP gained)
    > Since this consumed the full food tank (21.8K food), Total HP gained/Food consumed ~= 1.1
    > To repeat a cycle of AOE requires either waiting a LONG time for food to naturally refill in the Dae, or moving out of rendering range, as demonstrated in the video (which is a pain if you have a lot of HP to heal).
==> Conclusion: Using active AOE healing is WAY less efficient in food consumption. Passive healing was over ~100X more efficient in food consumption per pulse. Taking into account that passive healing pulses fail 50% of the time, passive healing is still 50X more efficient.
==> Conclusion: In terms of time-efficiency and convenience, it's a bit of a mixed bag, but I think it favors passive healing for me. Less total HP is being healed with passive vs active pulse (11K vs 24K), but in order to make AOE healing work, you have to move out of render repeatedly to keep filling the Dae's food tank. This is really a pain and reduces the time-efficiency. Moreover, passive healing is, well, passive. You can fire and forget and go about doing whatever you want at the base, whereas active healing requires constant attention.
To see how AOE healing efficiency changes with different number of dinos being healed, I did a testing round with AOE healing with only 3 Rexes instead of 6 (passive healing is unaffected by number of dinos present):
    Scenario:
    > Healing 3 Rexes
    > Daeodon level 209 (same as before)
    Active healing (AOE):
    > Total HP healed across 3 dinos: ~7K per dino, 21.7K total (almost exactly 1.0 HP gained/Food consumed)
    > Total HP went a little down from the 6 dino test, but it isn't too far off (22K vs 24K).
==> Conclusion: You don't get (much) extra food-to-heal efficiency by healing more dinos. If you have fewer dinos, they just get healed more.
    TLDR:
    > Passive healing is far superior in terms of food efficiency.
    > Passive healing is superior in terms of convenience.
    > Passive healing gains no benefit from extra food stat in Daeodon.
    > Clock-time wise, I think it is a bit of a toss-up, and it depends on how long it takes you to do the de-render cycling needed for AOE healing.
    > For Passive healing, if you force-feed the Dae to 100 food between each healing pulse, it will avoid failing pulses and increase clock-time efficiency (at the cost of having to actively tend to the Dae)

so... from your test results, if i want dae for passive heal 1 dino only:
      1. no need to pump food stat since all food stat will goes empty no matter how many stat it has
      2. only auto feed from feeding though
      3. one dae is enough
new player in ark and i still confused with pig heal mechanic

One pig should work for raising one wyvern. With the passive heal only healing one dino at a time I would think you need 1 pig per wyvern. I would have to test this method though because I don’t like using this method. I always go get wyvern milk.

Everything you said is true, BUT, Going out of render range and having the daeodon eat the entire trough then healing the entire group for 8 to 10 K takes more time because you have to keep filling the trough, You might have to go through 4 troughs of food before the team of rex are healed. In my testing on official pve server, I can heal an entire team of rex on less than 1 trough full of meat. I heal 1 rex at a time and have the daeodon just eat from the trough. It takes about 3 to 4 minutes per rex and uses way less meat. If you want to speed this process up use 2 daeodon, duh.

Oh my God! Thank you so much for making this video!! Yes you answered all my questions and I really appreciate the tips. So for healing baby wyverns and rock drakes, do you just fill the feeding trough with a ton of meat and leave it on enabled healing? Or do you only bring it out when they are starting to get bloody?

    • @ArkTradeFederation
      @ArkTradeFederation  2 роки тому +1

I would do it when they start getting bloody. If you leave them on passive healing it will try to heal them to full which is a waste while they are growing. I’ve personally never done this before but I’d keep a close eye on them the first time just to make sure they don’t die. I’ll try this tomorrow and see how it works out.

@@ArkTradeFederationmy wyverns don't eat anything until after they're full grown.... is that a setting the server owner turned on or is that normal? I've never had a baby wyvern die from hunger... and I've forgotten about them and left them by the AC units for several real-time days lol weird!!!

If the maturation rates are turned up high enough or their base food stat is high enough they will mature without having to eat. After maturing they will eat meat. On the ATF Patreon Servers a wyvern with 30ish levels in food will fully mature on 4x maturation.

great guide. underrated man. Liked and subbed. I am trying to get my mutation line going for bossing and I keep putting it in the back of my head that I really need to start watching for a good daeodon, but then I'm like.... I really don't know what to even do with it, lol.
My question is though, the wiki says that leveling food is a myth and that it isn't needed. Have you tried healing experiments with daeodons leveled up in food vs a run of the mill, low level tame? I am looking at 50k-60k health on my rexes and am trying to figure out what will be the quickest way to get them ready is all. Thanks for the kibble trick by the way. (ARK local solo)

Another option too it's kind of like the 2nd best option and in some ways it's a lot cheaper... If you have the ability to do a mutton farm. You can take a chainsaw or a Theriz with heavy harvesting and melee and just killed the baby sheep and then use the cook mutton. It's like 80 food or 75 food but it's a lot cheaper and much easier to get all of.
It's what my clan does in PVP. Because mutton is something we use more often than dodo kibble.

My daeodon just won't heal unless I'm sitting on it and actively use the ability. It has full food and food in its inventory, but nothing. It just sits there doing nothing while passive healing is enabled. One of the most frustrating things is when stuff just doesn't work...

    • @ArkTradeFederation
      @ArkTradeFederation  2 роки тому

When passive healing is enabled on pig it is very slow and only heals 1 dino at a time from what I have seen. Also sorry for the late reply. I had to test a couple of things related to this.

If using non-passive healing (AOE healing), does the amount of food consumed by the Daeodon increase for every dino being healed or is it a fixed amount of food consumed per pulse, regardless of the number of receivers?

    • @ArkTradeFederation
      @ArkTradeFederation  Рік тому +1

It is a fixed amount per dino being healed(I think). So the more dinos you are healing the faster the deaodon’s food will drop. I’ll it though and let you know.

Snow owls anyone. 😉 Yes I know you can't use on gen 1 or Ext unless the server you play on allows it.
Also I use veggie cakes to help restore health. Patch notes 252.8 all dinos except carbys doed will use veggies in their invent til they are 85% healed then it will stop using veggie cakes. Veggie cakes will no longer heal them. Achatina will suck down all of your veggies that are invent 😉
