It's fun to see you cover some places near (and dear) to me in this one. A few things to remark on:
Something that wasn't really relevant to the video, but is really nice, is that the Portland Hills trail connects pretty directly to the Woodlawn library. This is great for getting there without having to navigate around Portland St itself~ Also the gate you ran into is a weird one. There's numerous points of entry to the trail and that's the only one that's really wonky ...
The "apparently could have turned right" trail on the Bissett trail exists now! A friend and I were biking to Porters Lake in September and maps routed us this direction. I'd actually been through this area earlier in the summer and experienced the same roundabout entry through the suburb you showed here.
The worst part of this trip is 100% the Cole Harbor suburbs. I really felt sympathy watching you go through the same "wait, did I miss my turn?" moments when going about the many curved streets and small connection paths.

I’ve recently updated the Mount Hope overpass lights so by the time you make it to the next crosswalk by bike, the walk sign will come up automatically!

Did you consider the rails to trails paths? It takes you from Pleasant street pretty much all the way to the beach.

What I would give for those multi-use paths in my city 😢
