Kiss was my entry point into metal as well. My sister bought me the Destroyer album in 1980 for my 5th birthday. That is probably my favorite album cover of all time. Walls of Jericho is a great album, I love the song Judas. Great video as always sir!
My first 10 choices (no particular order): Black Sabbath- Master of Reality Iron Maiden- Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Judas Priest- Stained Class Megadeth- Countdown To Extinction Motörhead- Bastards Overkill- Horrorscope Testament- Low Ozzy Osbourne- Blizzard Of Ozz Dream Theater- Train Of Thought Anthrax- Among The Living
Darcy, awesome video! I'm looking forward to waching the next 4 parts. Here's my 2 cents. Not the "best" or the most popular. Just my favorite. 41. Von Hertzen Brothers- New Day Rising 42. Blackfoot- Marauder 43. Skyclad - Vintage Whine 44. Sieges Even - The Art of Navigating by the Stars 45. Savatage - Handful of Rain 46. Iced Earth- The Dark Saga 47. Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane 48. One Less Reason -The Memories Uninvited 49. Porcupine Tree - In Absentia 50. Thunder - Shooting at the Sun
Thanks very much ! Cool to see Savatage on your list , I promise you’ll see them at some point in one of the next 4 parts of my Top 50 . Part 2 coming tomorrow 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Props to you on picking out 50 albums. It would take me forever to pick my top 50. That Great White album is the only one I don't have. It's been the hardest to find. I actually like the latter bluesy great white albums. Mark Kendall is a hell of a guitar player. Psycho City is one of my favorite great white albums. Ready to see the next ten picks. Have a great week!
I fully agree with Lick It up and Headhunter because they happen to be two of my most favorites of all time as well and also Defenders Darcy. Cool series brother🤘🍺
Man, that's an impossible mission to accomplish! You surely picked up some awesome albums. That Great White album is my favorite by them. Got a Japanese reissue of it with OBI last year. I was just about to order Lick It Up last week. Can't wait to watch the rest! Cheers 🍻.
Some excellent albums here Darcy. Agree with you about Faster Pussycat, tge first and third albums are killer. I actually saw Guns n Roses on thier first UK tour, supported by Faster Pussycat, was an awesome show. Looking forward to part 2. Cheers 🍻 🤘
Going to love this segment Darcy. There were a few surprises but also some I knew what they were before you held it up lol. Love the stories to go along with some of these. Couldn’t agree more about testament having the greatest thrash metal debut. Just killer. Thanks for Sharing brother. Stay thrashy.🤟
Hi darcy..I'm 52 got into metal in 85 as a 15 year old..you have great taste man..soooo many great albums came out in 80s..hi from New Zealand..thanks so much for hard work on channel..I have all the albums on cd in this video..
Awesome Video Darcy, I held out until all 5 videos were out so I could sit back with them all Loved all the back stories with the albums, made it really special Some fantastic albums in this one, the Accept and Halloween are dynamite Looking forward to watching part 2 now Fantastic stuff Mate
Hey Darcy, love this first part of your top 50 albums. Can't argue with any of your selections here mate, all top shelf hard rock/heavy metal. Looking forward to watching your next installment!
Some undeniable classics there Darcy. I got into WASP roughly 10 years ago and all my albums were reissues. For the longest time, I didn't know that Animal was left off the album, so when I see "I Wanna Be Somebody" as the lead off track, it just looks...strange for some reason lol. Cheers!!
Yeah if that’s how you know the album it would definitely be strange ! I used to have the 12 in single for Animal , that one I did have to hide from my mother 😂 Cheers Mr.D
Hi Darcy … excellent ! You showed some of my favs . I saw that Priest/Great White tour too. I went out and bought that Great White cassette the next day . Killer album ! Defenders of the Faith is a fav of mine too. Love Headhunter and Vices too and Lick It Up is my fav Kiss album . Exciter is such a great song. I love that you are just saying these are 50 of your favourites and not ranking them. I agree that each album is special to us in its own way. I’m really looking forward to seeing your next 40. Thanks Darcy . Chez
Yeah I thought about it but I didn’t see the point in ranking them because they all mean the same to me , they are all apart of who I am ! To me a little bit of commentary to go along with each album is much better than putting a number beside it ! Thanks for stopping by , always appreciated 🤘 See you on the next one :)
Great video, Darcy! A brave mission, too. I'm not sure I could bring myself to do this - there's too much great music that I love - but I guess I should try at some point! I can't say there's a great deal on here that would make my list personally, but Testament's 'The Legacy' definitely would! I agree that 'Lick It Up' and 'Defenders of the Faith' are underrated albums, too. Accept are a band I know too little about, same with Krokus and a few others. I keep meaning to try Faster Pussycat, as I LOVE Guns N Roses! Looking forward to the rest of the list... Cheers! 🤘
That ‘Faster Pussycat’ album was a big deal over here in the U.K. when it first came out! ‘The Legacy’ is, like you say, a total ‘Thrashterpiece’!! A few albums you’ve shown here that I’ve been very late to the party to… so as much as I enjoy them… they won’t have the same connection to me as they do to you… but that’s what this list is all about right mate! Always good to see you brother!!🤘🏻
A great start Darcy. All killer albums so far. It's good to hear some of the stories behind why you like them. The Priest one for example and those are great photographs considering the lighting wouldn't have been the best. Restless would be on my list, Legacy as well is fantastic. Looking forward to the next part.
41. Dio - The Last In Line (1984) 42. Savatage - Gutter Ballet (1989) 43. Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time (1986) 44. Iron Maiden - Brave New World (2000) 45. Metallica - Kill 'Em All (1983) 46. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden (1980) 47. Thin Lizzy - Thunder and Lightning (1983) 48. Judas Priest - British Steel (1980) 49. Scorpions - Virgin Killer (1976) 50. Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction (1987)
Great list Kevin , can’t wait to see more of your list ! Part 2 of 5 coming this Sunday ! Thanks as always for taking the time to watch & comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
Hey Darcy! What a trove of info for when I write your authorized biography one day! 🤣🤣🤣 Killer first group of picks, several of those would also be on my top 50! So many moments, from that moody intro to Love Bites, to Udo sounding like a raging pelican to kick off Fast as a Shark! Haha! Great White's first album is definitely their best, a hard rock gem! Thankfully I have all of these albums, your shows usually cost me money! Take care and looking forward to you releasing the entire top 50 on extended edition Blue Ray or 4K! 🤣🤣🤣
Great list so far! Love that Testament and Priest albums, great old photos too. Great White is a wonderful addition! And KISS Lick it Up is my gateway to hard rock and Metal!!
You know it! Can’t wait for the game. It’s a shame your Vikings will need to lose 😂. But in all seriousness, both our teams are looking really good this year. Your Vikings have definitely surprised me! We will definitely chat before the game! Take carry buddy 🤘🏻🏈
A blistering start to the list mate, lick it up, vices, WASP, Accept, all awesome. Infact maybe only one here I’m not a big fan of and that’s Krokus. Looking forward to part 2!
Thanks for another great video! I'm 51, so I can relate to what you're saying. I certainly DO NOT have the metal knowledge that you do, though. I always enjoy your videos and always learn something. I'm already wondering what's going to be in your top 5! Looking forward to future installments of this series. Thanks again!
Great great albums. What more can is say. Love the debut by WASP too, my fave. Cool you saw them on that tour. I am 5 years younger and i didnt discover that album till the late 80s but it was a impact for me too. Super video Darcy.
I love early WASP ! I remember being so excited for The Last Command to come out in ‘85 , more polished but who cares it’s f#%king awesome , Widowmaker is one of my all-time favourite songs ! Thanks brother 🤘 Metal 24/7
Ahhh... the top records of all time. My hat is off to you Darcy for even opening that can. My wife likes to bust what is left of my balls because I often get excited and say " oh yeah, this is my top song or album of all time!" About many different bands and songs on any given day. What I can say? Ozzy Osbourne- Diary of a Madman. Metallica- And Justice For all Iron Maiden- Piece of Mind I could exist on a desert island with these classics. Rock albums ( differential from favorite, ie Metal albums) Guns N Rose's- Appetite for Destruction. AC/DC- Back in black. I cant decide between the two, so I won't. Many, many, fun filled summer nights slamming beers around a campfire getting into friendly pissing matches over rock and metal bands. My ultimate " make some waves, get the blood circulating" question/ suggestion was "Hey... one pick, the Beatles or the Stones?" Step back and see if I am among my kindred.
Awesome comment ! Nice to learn that my wife is not the only one who busts balls , “turn that shit off” she says ! Now to answer your question I’d have to go with the Beatles ! Hope that means you’ll stop by again haha 🤘 Cheers from Canada
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Oh, I'll definitely keep stopping bye, lol, although my answer is firmly in the camp of Mick and Keef and the the Rolling Stoned! Just something about the Stones rough edges always appealed to me as a precursor of heavy metal to come. But...Ozzy and Sabbath and a million other authorities of metal share your opinion. All of it is great music. I like you're show and a couple of others like Marty Worm and his buddy Allen who talk about heavy metal and the ins and outs and trivialities of being a fan. It's something that is damn near impossible to explain to someone who doesnt love the music.
I definitely wouldn't worry about videos being long. I personally prefer longer videos because I can just listen while I do other stuff and not have to touch anything. This was interesting. Still haven't heard Kickaxe...will be checking them out. Looking forward to the next one.
Solid start to this list mate, Kiss Lick it Up is a great album but Creatures just edges it for me. Agree with your words on Testament, Legacy always seems to stand out from the others. Has more balls to it as I would put it haha. Looking forward to part 2 🤘
I thought the same about Creatures until I spun those two albums back to back , try that & see if you still feel the same way ! Sorry not Asphyx in my Top 50 , you’ll definitely see them in a Top 50 of bands I discovered later ! Cheers Liam 🍻🤘
Had tickets for the Creatures of the Night show that ended up being cancelled due to low ticket sales. It was definitely a good move on their part to remove the make up as I mentioned earlier seeing them in 84 , that show was packed. We were almost behind the stage.
Great list so far. I haven't heard a couple of these, will have to check them out. I think I flip between The Blitz and Headhunter for my favorite Krokus album.
Well done. Vices is outstanding. I can’t say enough about that album. I picked up Icon’s self titled release around the same time, also a classic. Icon’s 1985 release Night of the Crime is also one of my favorite albums.Check out Icon if your not familiar with them.
Yes I know Icon , first 2 albums are great ! Bob Halligan Jr wrote a bunch of great songs on their second album . Thanks as always 🤘 Stay Heavy Charles
I'll give you 6 out of 10 for this one Darcy, purely based on the overlap between our taste, 10/10 for the video of course! This is a great idea, I've been toying with the idea of doing a similar series for my favourite 80s metal albums. WASP, Accept, JP & Testament the pick of the bunch for me!
Don’t toy with it , get on it ! I love watching videos like that , those ones that mean the most to you type of stuff ! 6/10 is better than I ever did in school , so I’ll take it 🤘
Nice picks my friend! I love when you talk about the "when" and "why" you made a connection with these albums. You could go on for an hour and I wouldn´t be bored.I only have on Great White album and that´s the debut. Some Canadian dude recommended it to me a couple of years ago, hehe.... I´ll have to pull out the Krokus record, haven´t spun it in years. No doubt about "The Legacy" being the best Thrash Metal album of all time! Can´t wait for the next episode and damn, I still need to pick up a copy of "Vices"......
Well f#%k if I would’ve known that I would’ve put a copy of Vices in that box that’s already headed your way ! Ok next time we get that taken care of ! Yeah bust out that Krokus & grab a beer 🤘 It’s time to go Headhuting ☠️
Great video Darcy! Faster Pussycat is one of those bands I never got into. I’ll have to give them another try and listed to the first three albums. Looking forward to the next forty albums!
Hey Darcy! What's up? I really like this segment you decided to do. Really interested in what the other 40 will be. These albums bring back a lot of memories and that really is the beauty about this if you ask me. I picked up WASP on cassette as well and really learned of them by reading Hit Parader magazine. Their early antics made for interesting reading but the music was amazing. I played that cassette nonstop and they became one of my favorite bands at that time and was lucky enough to see them open for KISS on The Last Command tour. I'm not sure where I'd even start with a top 50 but a lot of it would KISS because those are my boys! Take care my friend and as always stay heavy!!!
Great video with a nice spread of 80s metal genres. I really like 'Defenders of the Faith' too... and the artwork looks great in 12" format. Those pics were very well shot; I've never been able to take good pics from concerts. I actually grabbed a copy of 'Headhunter' a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to part 2.
Shit I can’t believe I still have those pictures , who the hell knew they’d come in handy one day lol . Good to hear you picked up Headhunter , Krokus at the top of their game ! Thanks for watching 🤘 See you in the next one :))
Haha you just made me what to listen to Phantoms Of Death right now , I’m not bullshitting you I just put it on haha ! Thanks for taking the time to watch & comment 🤘 Cheers David

@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Ofcourse i will listen Great White. I love to discover metal bands that i never heard of, and especially from 80s. I enjoy to watch people that really know to listen music and understand ART! I am waiting to see part 2. Thanks you Metal brother, cheers from Greece
Strong list. I'm not the familiar with Vices just yet, don't know Krokus at all but I have heard that that one is the best one. The rest I know pretty well. Lick it up was a surprise. I like that album but like you say late 82 in time for the release, gotta mean more to you under the circumstances. The timing plays an enormous part in all this stuff which is why there's no wrong answers.
My journey started in 1976 with Kiss as well. I don't know that I could name a top 50. So many fantastic hard rock and heavy metal albums out there Just started watching so I don't know what all you're going to show but the comments mention Vices. Fantastic album. I saw Krokus in 84 as well but they were the opening band for Kiss. I think it was their Animalize tour. You mention Muchmusic. I'm in the states and we had a satellite in the early to mid 80s so I got to watch the Pepsi Power Hour. I honestly felt like it was so much better than Headbangers Ball. " It was all just metal to us back then". Absolutely.
Those are definitely 1984 quality phots haha , but I’m glad I have them . Yeah that Great White debut never gets old , so damn good ! Always good to see you pop up in the comments 🍻🤘 Salud René
Hi Darcy!!! I know this kind of videos countdowns has been done plenty of times by many VC member, but it's always fun seeing the different choices that always appears..... I think i have not listen Great White debut album, but i will take your advise and listen to that record. Cool seeing the very underrated Krokus, that's one cd i still need to grab. cheers and be well
You definitely need Headhunter in your collection & while your looking keep a eye out for the one that came out just before Headhunter called One Vice At A Time , great album too ! Cheers Christian 🤘
Enjoyed the video Darcy and look forward to the other parts. Although I’m significantly younger at 50 😀, we started our love affair with Metal around the same time. I would have 7 of these bands on my list for sure (maybe would have selected a different album). Three bands that never clicked with me were Kiss, Faster Pussycat and Great White. Based on your comments, I think I will give that early Great White album a try. On my top 50 - I would have to include the original Queensryche EP 😀
Good first picks Darcy. Its always interesting to see everyones "top" selections, its such a subjective thing and subject to change at the drop of a hat . I agree 100 would be better but even then it could stretch further, how do you pick between a farewell to kings and hemispheres for example. You are only a young fella at 54, 65 myself, so grew up with Sabbath, Purple, Zep and Heep. Looking forward to the next Vid.
With a quality start like this I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of your top list. My copy of Tankard is in Australia but not reached me yet. I guessed a few albums correctly when you started talking about the bands😝 I totally agree on yr Faster Pussycat sentiments. Killer list so far mate 🤘
Well done mate. I would struggle to compile a list. I have a top 5 but havnt really thought about an expanded list. First time I ever heard Wasp was in about 87 when we snuck into my mates brothers bedroom and put the debut on. Up until that point I had never heard anything that heavy as I was into Europe and Bon Jovi. I really enjoy Accept now but struggled when I was younger with Udo’s voice. I jumped on the Faster Pussycat train with Wake Me When It’s Over but didn’t hear the debut till years later. Testament is the greatest thrash band of all time in my opinion. I even enjoy Demonic which certanly gets negative reviews. Great vid idea mate😀🤘
I discovered hard rock in 1984 and KICK AXE with its "Vices" was for me the detonator before a huge explosion. This album is perfect from start to finish with a hellish production and an absolutely incredible melodic power. The cover was atypical for the era which still remains one of my favorites today. You will have understood that this album is the quintessence of what was best at the time...and what a time my ancestors...the one when hard rock exploded in France! The first WASP remains my favorite too! 2 timeless albums😎 For JUDAS PRIEST, it's the one I prefer too. Dude, content your channel like this, you are the best 🤘👍 Hello from 🇨🇵
Thank you for the kind words & great comment ! The Vices album cover is still one of my favourites all these years later . Thanks for watching 🤘 Stay Heavy in France :))
I was listening to Nazareth and Cheap Trick in 1982...then, my uncle Lawrence gave me a cassette of Judas Priest "Screaming For Vengeance" when he came to visit me late summer, I have not looked back since...back in the day BANZAI Records released very awesome metal like Venom, Parasite, Tysondog to name a few...great work Darcy, horns up...
Ah good ‘ole Banzai Records , I remember going through the bins full of Banzai cassettes ! I discovered so many bands that way , Venom , Metallica & Exodus to name a few ! Thanks for the kind words 🤘 See you in the next one :)
I remember when i first heard i wanna be somebody, it totally blew ratt and motley crue of the map lol and then accept did exactly the same to wasp ,believe it was accept that put me on the path to thrash ,megadeth and slayer and i never looked back 🤘👍🤘
I love WASP slowly getting all. My intro to Accept was Balls To The Wall, I remember seeing the video on Headbangers Ball. Herman Frank underrated. Indeed, no labeling back in the '80s it was all rock to me. That Testament is classic. Of all those glam/hairmetal bands I liked Great White probably the most. My favorite Kiss is Revenge. I love the early to mid '80s Krokus the best. They had a great 4-album run from the era.
You are bang on about that 4 album run by Krokus , underrated & often overlooked , I’d love to see some reissues of those ! Thanks as always my friend 🤘 Stay Heavy 🥶 Stay Warm
I hope your house never goes on fire but when your grabbing the Testament , get Judas Priest Painkiller for me!!. I also love early Great White. I saw them in the late 80's supporting Alice Cooper. Before the concert me and my friends ran into Michael Lardie of Great White. ( I had to look up his name on back of the album cover. ) He was really horrible and obnoxious to us. People like that really need to show abit of respect to people who buy their music. He was very rude. I have met far more famous musicians than him and the most have been friendly. But that guy has a serious attitude problem. Have you had any incidents like that yourself?
That’s a great idea ! I will put a list of all 50 bands in the comment section of part 5 of 5 , this way it doesn’t give anything away until the end so people can be surprised when they watch ! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
There are bands I love with certain albums I don't like, and certain albums from bands I don't like with albums I do like. It gets complicated. I love Judas Priest, but don't like "Demolition". I don't care for Motley Crue, but really like "Shout at the Devil". Go figure. W.A.S.P. are pretty good, but never thought they were that heavy. Maybe it was just that sh*tty 80's production. But damn, you have some great picks there. "Restless and Wild" is my favourite Accept album. My one difference with Krokus is I would take "One Vice at a Time" over "Headhunter". But I really like both.
Testament, The Legacy is an absolute beast along with Live At Eindhoven. The re-recorded album First Strike Still Deadly is great too. Zetro sings on Alone In The Dark and pulls off a career best performance on Reign Of Terror....
First Strike Still Deadly is the best re-recorded songs I’ve ever heard , many bands have tried but don’t even come close to what Testament did on that album ! Totally agree on Zetro on Reign Of Terror 🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 The full cd version of Live At Eindhoven is amazing too. I remember the cassette doung the rounds at school in the '80's, I own original vinyls of that and The Legacy. Picked them both up in mint condition at a market second hand store! I have cds for sale too if are open for trades?
We got into metal the same year \m/ 1982, when I first heard Screaming for Vengeance. I loved The Legacy but I didn't follow Testament after that for almost 15 years, when I started getting back into thrash. I loved Defenders of the Faith. I still remember me and my brother had bunk beds and my brother jumped off the top bunk right onto my D.O.T.F. album and broke it. I called my mom crying because he broke it and refused to buy me another one. I know, not very metal but I was 13 and all my albums were bought with my allowance so I didn't have many 😂 I was never a Kiss fan but Lick it Up was the only album I owned. My mom bought me an album I didn't like so I traded it to my brother for Kiss. My brother was into Pop music and Kiss was the heaviest album he had

So I will go with : Heavy Pettin´ "Lettin´Loose" Axel Rudi Pell "Eternal Prisoner" Gary Moore "Corridors of Power" Thin Lizzy "Thunder and Lightning" Pro Pain "The Truth Hurts" Have a nice and greetings,Heiko
I'd love to play along, but there's no way I could put myself through the aggravation of compiling a list. So, I'll just rank your pix as if they were mine... 1. WASP 2. Restless & Wild 3. Faster Pussycat 4. Headhunter 5. Walls of Jericho 6. Defenders of the Faith 7. Lick It Up 8. Great White 9. The Legacy 10. Vices Keep up the good work!
Not gonna talk about your choices, they are yours, some I like some I don't but I've found the title of your video a bit confusing. But it is always the case when defining genre boundaries. When I saw Hard Rock I expected Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, etc. Also when one says Heavy Metal I expect Judas Priest, Saxon, W.A.S.P. etc. Then you showed the cover of Legacy and I was like; wait a minute that's Thrash metal, not Heavy Metal. Yes a Metal album but Heavy Metal ? I guess if your title said Hard Rock&Metal that would be less confusing. When I started buying metal albums for the first time in 1990, there was a term called Hard'n'Heavy. It was more inclusive because you could have put AC/DC, GNR, Kiss, etc into that broader category with the likes of Iron Maiden, Accept, etc. But it was still vague because people used to include Metallica and Slayer into that package. So, in a nutshell, still to this day putting bands into definite categories has been a pain in the arse for me. Listening is fine, I listen to what I like to listen to but when it comes to categorize them, oh boy! So, I drew some hard line between Metal and Hard Rock. Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Kiss, etc is Hard Rock, Judas Priest is Heavy Metal, Testament is Thrash. As I said I listen to and like all of them, no problem 'til I put the into categories.
You will see some Hard Rock , still 40 to go ! You won’t see Led Zeppelin , never been a fan ! I probably could’ve took Heavy out of the title , but it’s all Metal to me anyway & I don’t think people take this stuff to seriously … do they lol .
Heavy Metal is really all metal. It is the main genre and all others are subgenres. Yes Testament is Thrash metal, but thrash is a subgenre of Heavy Metal. Judas Priest, Iron Maiden are known as Traditional, or Classic, Heavy Metal. So Traditional Heavy Metal is a subgenre of Heavy Metal. It's just that Maiden and Priest really predate all these subgenres that make up Heavy Metal, so they've always been called Heavy Metal. But when you started getting all these subgenres created then bands like Priest, Maiden, and Dio got re-labelled as Traditional Heavy Metal.
@@Gregbaltzer That's not how I see it. Yes maybe initially Heavy Metal was the main genre but by the time it became a sub genre of Metal. It is strange for me to think of Death or Black Metals as the subgenre of Heavy metal. To me it goes like; Rock>Metal>Extreme Metal>Black Metal. But since there is no ultimate authority for Metal music such as International Institute of Metal Music or something to approve which one of us is right or wrong, this discussion becomes moot.
@@EmrahUncu all you have to do is google the definition. Metal is just a shortened term for Heavy Metal, because no one wants to say Heavy Metal all the time, so it was just shortened to Metal, but they are the same thing. It's the same as Hardcore became the shortened term for Hardcore Punk.
I’ve got a few of my friends into this album that live outside of Canada , but more people need to know about this gem that I can say ! Thanks for watching 🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 you too my friend. I wish I had an outlet for talking about metal. So I enjoy talking about it in my head with you and guys like you. Haha
I totally agree with you, that’s why it’s very high on my Bruce Dickinson album ranking! I’m really looking forward to another solo album from him. Thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
I was a bit late to the party with that album to be honest , but I certainly won’t argue that it’s one of the greatest metal albums ever ! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers John
Larry , Brian & Victor were from Regina and Ray Harvey was from Melville area (could be Yorkton) & George was from States . Thanks very much 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Pepsi powerhour with Michael Williams was the best! I’m 55 and from Toronto. I used to love Much Music it was so great back in the 80’s and 90’s. Zeppelin is my fav band by far, but I’m big on many bands on your lists esp Priest…Maiden….Motörhead and Saxon. Cheers ✌️🇨🇦❤️
Yeah Michael was awesome ! I still wish I had all my VHS tapes , I would record every episode and watch them over and over . I’m glad you stopped by , hope all it good out east , we are getting out first batch of snow right now here in Saskatchewan 🥲 Say it ain’t so lol
I could see "Fire down under" from Riot going perfectly along with the rest of your selection.
I didn’t know that album back in the day , but I have it now & love it ! Riot has lots great albums . Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Cheers from the deep south! 🤘
Kiss was my entry point into metal as well. My sister bought me the Destroyer album in 1980 for my 5th birthday. That is probably my favorite album cover of all time. Walls of Jericho is a great album, I love the song Judas. Great video as always sir!
My first 10 choices (no particular order):
Black Sabbath- Master of Reality
Iron Maiden- Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Judas Priest- Stained Class
Megadeth- Countdown To Extinction
Motörhead- Bastards
Overkill- Horrorscope
Testament- Low
Ozzy Osbourne- Blizzard Of Ozz
Dream Theater- Train Of Thought
Anthrax- Among The Living
Darcy, awesome video! I'm looking forward to waching the next 4 parts.
Here's my 2 cents. Not the "best" or the most popular. Just my favorite.
41. Von Hertzen Brothers- New Day Rising
42. Blackfoot- Marauder
43. Skyclad - Vintage Whine
44. Sieges Even - The Art of Navigating by the Stars
45. Savatage - Handful of Rain
46. Iced Earth- The Dark Saga
47. Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane
48. One Less Reason -The Memories Uninvited
49. Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
Props for showing some love for Vices and Great White debut. Both fantastic old school metal albums!
Wouldn’t be a Top list without those 2 albums ! Thanks Rich 🤘
Hi darcy..I'm 52 got into metal in 85 as a 15 year old..you have great taste man..soooo many great albums came out in 80s..hi from New Zealand..thanks so much for hard work on channel..I have all the albums on cd in this video..
Awesome Video Darcy, I held out until all 5 videos were out so I could sit back with them all
Loved all the back stories with the albums, made it really special
Some fantastic albums in this one, the Accept and Halloween are dynamite
Looking forward to watching part 2 now
Fantastic stuff Mate
WASP s/t and Krokus Headhunter are both gold , can't wait to see your top 5 . Me thinks Dio might be in there somewhere , onya Darcy.
Who’s this Dio guy ? I’ll have to check ‘em out haha ! Stay Tuned 🤘 Stay Heavy
Hey Darcy, love this first part of your top 50 albums. Can't argue with any of your selections here mate, all top shelf hard rock/heavy metal. Looking forward to watching your next installment!
Cool video really enjoyed it! You can’t go wrong with these! I look forward to watching the other ones!
Thank you very much ! Part 2 tomorrow , hope to see you then 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
Some good stuff Darcy and a couple of surprises. Priest and Pussycat would definitely be on my list. Look forward to the next video. Cheers.
Haha i knew those old photos would come in handy one day 😂 Cheers GRock
41. Dio - The Last In Line (1984)
42. Savatage - Gutter Ballet (1989)
43. Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time (1986)
44. Iron Maiden - Brave New World (2000)
45. Metallica - Kill 'Em All (1983)
46. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden (1980)
47. Thin Lizzy - Thunder and Lightning (1983)
48. Judas Priest - British Steel (1980)
49. Scorpions - Virgin Killer (1976)
50. Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction (1987)

Very strong list for bottom 10.
This top 50 is a great idea Darcy! Look forward to the next round. Cheers 🤘🏻
Thanks Mike ! I’m looking forward to Nov 13 for a little NFL 🏈 Go Vikings
Great great stuff
Ahhh... the top records of all time.
Metallica- And Justice For all
Iron Maiden- Piece of Mind
I could exist on a desert island with these classics.
Rock albums ( differential from favorite, ie Metal albums)
Guns N Rose's- Appetite for Destruction.
Great Job Darcy, saw that Priest & Great White tour @ The Meadowlands in NJ 🤘
It seems like a lifetime ago but I remember it like yesterday ! So cool that you got to see the same tour 🤘 Cheers Thomas
I definitely wouldn't worry about videos being long. I personally prefer longer videos because I can just listen while I do other stuff and not have to touch anything. This was interesting. Still haven't heard Kickaxe...will be checking them out. Looking forward to the next one.
Scorpions are rocking out as I type this. Big City Nights. 🤘🎸🇩🇪🦂
Sorry I was already sleeping when you commented 😂 I hope you had a great time 🤘
Solid start to this list mate, Kiss Lick it Up is a great album but Creatures just edges it for me.
If you like Appetite For Destruction you’ll like the debut by Faster Pussycat , a real fun album ! See you in the next one 🤘
Hey Darcy!
100% with you on 'Walls Of Jericho' Darcy, one of thee best Metal albums ever, no arguments heard!

Just when you thought you knew me 🤣 BOOM a Kiss album shows up on my Top 50 list ! Timing is everything with these albums !
My journey started in 1976 with Kiss as well. I don't know that I could name a top 50. So many fantastic hard rock and heavy metal albums out there
Just started watching so I don't know what all you're going to show but the comments mention Vices.
Absolutely.
Nice you took some photos. I love the debut by GREAT WHITE too very much and understand what you are saying.
Those are definitely 1984 quality phots haha , but I’m glad I have them . Yeah that Great White debut never gets old , so damn good ! Always good to see you pop up in the comments 🍻🤘 Salud René
Some decent picks, there. Looking forward to the rest.
Thanks very much 🤘 Stay Heavy James
Trust me on that Great White ! Wait a minute here … significantly younger you say 👊 LMAO Cheers B

Ride The Skyyyyyyyyyy 🎃🤘
Good first picks Darcy. Its always interesting to see everyones "top" selections, its such a subjective thing and subject to change at the drop of a hat . I agree 100 would be better but even then it could stretch further, how do you pick between a farewell to kings and hemispheres for example. You are only a young fella at 54, 65 myself, so grew up with Sabbath, Purple, Zep and Heep. Looking forward to the next Vid.
I used to crank up Accept Restless & Wild on my boom box walking around my town in the 80’s!! 🤘🤘🤘
Haha that’s awesome , such a great Metal album ! I miss those boom box days . Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Thanks brother ! Can’t wait for you to get your copy of the new Tankard , it’s in my Top 5 for 2022 … I shit you not 🍻 See you in the next one :))
Dude, content your channel like this, you are the best 🤘👍
Hello from 🇨🇵
Thank you for the kind words & great comment !
Nothing wrong with Nazareth and Cheap Trick ;)
I own 7 of your first 10 albums. The WASP and Testament albums are my favorites of these.
I’m looking forward to seeing how many you have of the next 10 , video up tomorrow ! Always nice to hear from you David 🤘 Tty soon
I remember when i first heard i wanna be somebody, it totally blew ratt and motley crue of the map lol and then accept did exactly the same to wasp ,believe it was accept that put me on the path to thrash ,megadeth and slayer and i never looked back 🤘👍🤘
Amigo, siempre es un gusto verte y seguirte, saludos desde Colombia.
It’s always good to hear from you my friend 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Hello Darcy. You should have done a list of all the bands you mentioned.
That’s a great idea ! I will put a list of all 50 bands in the comment section of part 5 of 5 , this way it doesn’t give anything away until the end so people can be surprised when they watch ! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Cheers from France
Accept - Restless
Testament - The Legacy
Helloween - Walls
Checking these out now 🤘
Awesome thank you ! Let me know what you think 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy

I have Live At Eindhoven on cd , it’s an incredible live album , you can just feel the energy !
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Aye I picked the cd up too. "WANNA DRINK SOME BEERS AND PARTY WITH US? C'MON, FUCK THE RAIN!!" Absolute classic!!

The Faster Pussycat was a surprising choice, I didn't expect that. I really didn't like them at all.
This old timer is smashing it on the views
That’s why my wife doesn’t let me out of the house alone ! I may be the oldest ride in the park but I still got the longest lines …. Whoooooo !!

@@Gregbaltzer That's not how I see it. Yes maybe initially Heavy Metal was the main genre but by the time it became a sub genre of Metal. It is strange for me to think of Death or Black Metals as the subgenre of Heavy metal. To me it goes like;
Rock>Metal>Extreme Metal>Black Metal.
Well I'm thinking about opening up a Heavy Metal collage to help educate people about Heavy Metal and I'm gonna be a fuckin professor😀🤣😂🤣🤘🍺
I wonder if I'm the only non-Canadian that owns that KIck Axe album.
I’ve got a few of my friends into this album that live outside of Canada , but more people need to know about this gem that I can say ! Thanks for watching 🤘
My top 17 would turn into an Iron Maiden album ranking…haha
Nothing wrong with that ! 18 to 50 might be cool to lol . Thanks as always for checking in on me 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
