Good to hear your thoughts on the albums Darcy. Quite a tough ranking to do as they have a very consistent discography, even though they've had a few lineup changes. Thank you! Again great to watch ranking video. I think I have to listen all Overkill albums too and rank them too. I own all of them but I think I don't remember every album very good. Stay heavy!
Saw them last night opening for KD (both were phenomenal I was blown away!) and have only really heard a few albums (Feel the Fire - Horrorscope, and The latest three). Night Demon was phenomenal as we'd never heard of them before. D.D. Verni is back for Overkill (it was his first show back!), Bobby left the stage every single song to rehydrate with I think a beer and a cig lmao, it was freaking amazing. As for King, at 70 he sounds the exact same as the records... now for the news he dropped. King said that they are recording a music video for the new track "Spider Lilly", at the Pennhurst Asylum this week! I'm so excited. Cheers man you're gonna have SO much fun at the show next month
Definitely the most consistently good thrash band of all time 🤘I think I’m missing most of your bottom ranked albums. As you know I was late to Overkill but making up for it now.
If I remember correctly Bobby’s vocals didn’t sit well with you in the beginning, glad you got there now! Hope all is good your way brother 🤘 Have a great weekend :))
My very first Overkill record that i bought back in the day was The Years of Decay. I was totally blown away. And then followed up with Horrorscope! I have no words! So many amazing memories of my youth
01. Horrorscope 02. The Years Of Decay 03. W.F.O. 04. The Killing Kind 05. Under The Influence 06. I Hear Black 07. The Wings Of War 08. Scorched 09. The Grinding Wheel 10. Taking Over
Saw them on the taking over tour . I feel old ..i loved them until wfo which i cant listen to at all .. missed a big gap until immortalis. I love this lp . I do watch a lot of vidoes to try and discover hidden gems i might have missed . Great video. . Must have been fun but lots of albums too😂😮

Don't know if you're picking it up but I got the 40th anniversary of TS-Stay Hungry. The 2 extras songs are really good. Apparently they found these 2 tracks in a warehouse unfinished. Aj and Marks tracks were done but the guitars and vocals weren't, so they finished them. And the songs fit perfectly. The live cd is good too, but I enjoy Twisted Sister live.
My favorite thrash band too. My introduction was in 97 with From the Underground and Below which is my favorite album. I love the 90's Overkill albums and the 80's as well. The 2000-2005 period in my opinion is the weakest but i still love those 3 albums. 2007's Immortalis gets alot of hate and i dont know why. It kinda reminds me a bit of their 90's groove albums. Maybe thats why i love that album so much. Their last several albums though is getting kinda samey. Thats a problem with bands that have too many albums. Loudness would make a great ranking lol.
Yeah OverKill rankings are hard, all the albums are great, you can just mix 'em up. I have the same top three as you though, Horrorscope, Taking Over and Years of Decay, only I'd put Necroshine dead last, just not my cup of OverKill, and it's the only Album cover in their whole discography that actually sucks. It looks like a grade 5 kids art project gone wrong, ugh. I'm seeing the King Diamond/OverKill show too! In Vancouver though. Cheers!
When it comes to staying power you are unbeatable. Im delighted to own the 80s stuff on vinyl. They were very good with Flots and Destruction a few years ago but it was also hard to see Blitz and Erik looking so beaten up by a life of touring. I don't care what anyone says, at their level its not glamorous and hats off to them for sticking with it. I truly hate that Metallica haven't been charitable to the thrash movement. They had the power to help make life easier for all these types of bands over the years. In a 40 year career i cant think of any bands that they've taken out with them that have been a proper fit. Danzig, Warrior Soul, The Cult, Queensryche, Kid Rock. I mean just F right off! Terrified of being upstaged likely.
Good to hear! I wasn’t disappointed in 1993, why would I disappointed now lol. Nothing samey about those earlier Overkill albums. Thanks for taking the time to hang out with me 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
I love 80s Overkill. My top 3 are: 1. Taking Over, 2. Feel the Fire, 3. The Years of Decay. Their EP (before Feel the Fire) has a monster track on it. The Answer. Absolute amazing song. Never understood why it hasn't been re-released after all these years. Well, perhaps Bobby Gustafson wrote it!!!!
The Answer is killer! They also need to re-release or re-record Death Rider & The Beast Within, I love both those songs too. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Marc
I have every Overkill album and the 80s is the best stuff for me. Honestly, every thrash band I listen to I consider the 80s stuff the best. 20 albums is a lot! I like them all I'm just not familiar with them all. The only 2 other bands that I can think of that I have 20 albums from is Motorhead and Napalm Death. Lately I've been feeling over whelmed by the size of my CD collection, and how much time I have to listen to music. I always want to pick your brain on how you feel /think about certain things I think about a lot as an aging metalhead collector. I've been considering boxing some stuff up, and just keeping classic era stuff out. I'm starting to feel like there's a lot of bands that just need to retire. There's not a single band I like that if they broke up I'd be upset, because I'm happy with the discography they have, and while the newer stuff is okay to good it will never be as good as their classic era. There are only a handful of bands I still look forward to new albums from eg. Voivod, Unleashed, Agnostic Front etc. Megadeth, Testament, Death Angel Angel, and Exodus are five of the bands I haven't enjoyed their last couple of releases, but I buy them as a collector and they just sit there. They're not releasing bad albums just nothing I like as much as the early stuff. A big part of the reason I don't like modern thrash is the albums are getting too long, and the production/guitar tones on modern thrash albums. I just like the way 80s/90s productions/tones sound.
This a great & very relevant comment, do the math, how much time do we really have to listen to all this shit lol. The way I look at this & life in general, I will continue to do what I do until I can’t! One thing I have done is scale back on newer bands, I love the older bands. Not saying NO to new bands, they just need to be great to sit on the shelf. Actually my purchases have really slowed down over the past going on 3 years. Just a few thoughts, I probably could do a whole video on this lol. Thanks as always 🤘 Have a great week Greg :))
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 and thats a big part of it too. Bands doing the same thing for too long. For me Testament hasn't changed enough. I find the last 4 Death Angel too similar. I've had every Motorhead album for a long time, but I didn't listen to their 2000s albums as much as their 80s and 90s. It's just too much of the same thing. It's the same with Exodus...Zero growth. People can hate on Metallica but I'm always curious about their next album because I don't know what they're going to do. It's the same with Voivod, they're always pushing themselves. To me that's the pit fall of being a thrash band. Thrash fans don't like their bands to grow beyond thrash. That just gets tiring after a while.
Howdy Darcy! D'ya got Metalica 2023 (72 Seasons) review? I bought it just yesterday and it's FANTASTIC! It's got the Black Sabbath's vibe in it (even though Metalica is not in the raw of my favourite bands)
I can’t argue that, love both songs & albums! Bonded By Blood is my second favourite thrash metal debut album of all-time, just behind Testament The Legacy. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers Eric
Ah, fantastic. I can't really rank Overkill yet as I've more or less just started to really get to know them. I still don't have three of their Albums (the ones before "The Wings of War"). I've seen them live recently on Sep 12. Right now "The Killing Kind" is actually one of my favorites by them. Next to "Taking Over". The rest I have to listen to a little bit more often as of now.
Oh man you’re in for a treat when you eventually pick up those 3 albums, especially Ironbound! So cool that you got to see them live. Thanks for taking the time to watch & comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
My favorites are the debut/Taking Over/Years Of Decay/Horrorscope/IronBound/Coverkill...I actually liked the 90s trend of metal bands releasing cover albums..Slayer,Metallica,etc..
"I hear Black" isn´t too far down on my list as well. That was one of my fave Overkill concerts ever with Savatage supporting them. Overkill might be the band that I´ve seen the most in my life. Every tour from "Horrorscope" to "The Wings of War" I went to at least one time and they played festivals in between as well. I always loved the fact that they throw in some unexpected songs like "I hate", Blood Money" or "Powersurge" from time to time! Even on tours for their "weaker" albums they tore down the venues, hahaha... Motörhead and Overkill in Munich 2007 was one hell of a show as well...
I better ask Alan one more time what he thinks of I Hear Black, I need a good laugh ha ha. Germany is pretty much Overkill’s second home I’d say. Hope all is good your way 🤘 Cheers brother

Thank you! Again great to watch ranking video. I think I have to listen all Overkill albums too and rank them too. I own all of them but I think I don't remember every album very good. Stay heavy!

Great list. I agree, there are no bad albums here. I also love I Hear Black, it's high on my list, so is The Killing Kind. great stuff.
Another great ranking. Im also going see king diamond overkill. Night demon in detroit
@@charlespiippo2501 Awesome! Such a great bill, 3 bands that all offer something different. Enjoy the show Charles 🤘
Oh man thanks for getting me even more excited lol. So happy you enjoyed the show 🤘 Stay Heavy brother
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 yeah man hands down a phenomenal show, also new MV so hopefully new song soon??
Definitely the most consistently good thrash band of all time 🤘I think I’m missing most of your bottom ranked albums. As you know I was late to Overkill but making up for it now.
If I remember correctly Bobby’s vocals didn’t sit well with you in the beginning, glad you got there now! Hope all is good your way brother 🤘 Have a great weekend :))
My very first Overkill record that i bought back in the day was The Years of Decay. I was totally blown away. And then followed up with Horrorscope! I have no words! So many amazing memories of my youth
Man I love this video, Not only is Overkill my favorite band, they are the best band ever and W.F.O is their best album to me
Man I love this comment ha ha, you obviously have good taste. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 💚🖤 Cheers to the green & black
lol yeah well said wfo is and justice for all flipped. The bass is insane on that one. I also love the wait in new highs and lows
I’m Gonna see Overkill with King Diamond And Night Demon a week from now in Edmonton looking forward to it Should be a Great killer show🤘
I’ll be at the Saskatoon show, can’t wait! I hope you have a blast 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Both cancelled!! Man I was looking so forward to this 🤬

Do it! Do it!! 😉
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I've gone for relic .. I looked at my collection and there's a paltry 5 cds by overkill.... now its 6 lol . Thank you . This is going to keep me busy
Bloodletting (2000) is top tier Overkill for me.
Cheers!
I like Overkill but I don’t own much, only Necroshine and the latest one Scorched. Scorched was one of my favorite cds from 2023. Love DD’s bass tone.
@@kevinm5957 Yeah me too, D.D. has such a recognizable bass tone. I see more Overkill CDs in your future ha ha. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers Kevin
Great job.
Thanks Charles 🤘
You literally couldn’t be more right about Metallica! Love this comment 🤘 Cheers mate
They had Overkill opening for them several years ago. It mightve been one of those festivals
They played in the parking lot outside 😂@@Retro_Man_76
Stopped listening to them for years then Ironbound got me back into them🇮🇪🤘
Just wondering. King Diamond Spider’s Lullaby in the background is that because of the rumour they might play it live? It’s a great album.
Not sure about that rumor, but it looks like they are playing a new song called Spider Lilly. Can’t wait for that show 🤘 See you there brother :))
I have a soft spot for I Hear Black. Love them all🤘
Good to hear!
It’s in one of my updates, just can remember which one! I don’t hate it, but I hardly ever listen to it. Glad you like it 🤘
Man I wish I had your vinyl collection 😂
It’s not massive, but I do go for quality over quantity lol. Hope all it good with you 🤘 Cheers Vinny
Raise The Dead + Bonded By Blood for me were not only the best openers, but the 2 best tracks of 85.
Sorry, the three before "The Grinding Wheel".

@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 You're welcome. Thanks for your content.
