I'm less than an average Judas Priest. Screaming For Vengeance, Defenders Of The Faith, British Steel, and Rocka Rolla are the albums I have ... but those high pitched vocals at times is over the top. Now, that he and Biff Byford of Saxon are in their 70s I'm impressed, which reminds of Brian Johnson and Nazareth who have been singing just as long ... health issues brought them to slowdown. That bent over posturing to reach those high pitched screams, I can care less if they made it to Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame.
More bangers, Shout At The Devil an all time classic for me, Powerslave and Among The Living too, lots of classics in this series and some of the best left till last. Great series!

Strong finish as well. I agree 100% with your Maiden choice, if there is one really great album from Maiden, is Powerslave! The other maiden albums are sooo far away. There are just "no words" for the best Black sabbath album you mentioned. Well done for having UDO in the best! i agree ofcourse with the Animal house, but SOlID is so near too. The other choices ofcourse were expected. Nice. The whole top 50 heavy metal albums thing you made was cool! Maybe you should do the same with the top 100 metal songs of all time, but this is too hard. Or alternative , you can take the best 5 songs of every band , but also hard..
Cool that you mentioned U.D.O. Solid , that one , Timebomb , No Limits & Holy are four albums that I highly recommend if you like Animal House ! Top 100 metal songs you say … wow that would be tough lol , but you never know 😉

I am dying to see your W.A.S.P. ranking!!!I can see and hear The Crimson Idol in the background,great album ,the continuation of the entire concept Blackie did later was a lot worse,unfortunately. The debut album,The Last Command,Inside The Electric Circus,Live...In The Raw,Headless Children and The Crimson Idol-those albums I ABSOLUTELY love. I am not sure about the rest of the band's catalog,many of the later albums were quite bad,in my opinion.Well,Double Live Assasins album was good but only because Chris Holmes joined the band for that tour.

I went to the show in Dallas with WASP/Michael Schenker Group/Armored Saint. The fire dept. shut the show down before WASP came on cuz the promoter sold 3200 tix to 2K capacity venue. It sucked. Haven't seen WASP since they opened for Kiss in 1986. Hope your night ends on a better...note.

I agree with you that the first Faster Pussycat album is just as good as Appitite, I was lucky enough to see both bands play on the same bill here in the uk, promoting thier first albums. Agree with Reign in Blood. Heaven and Hell is my favourite Black Sabbath album also. Shout at the Devil is my favourite Motley album. Really enjoyed this series mate. Cheers 🍻 🤘

Some cool albums in part 5. Powerslave is one of the best metal albums ever recorded! Need to give AIC a better listen. I only have Facelift in my collection. Appetite For Destruction was the album that started it all for me. Great effort as always Darcy 🤘 🍻.
Great series! ALL very special albums in this one. Man, I remember being a kid , huddled around the boom box in my buddies garage listening to “In the Beginning” on Shout at the Devil. We thought it was the devil talking! 😂Keep up the great videos 🍻
I waited through 49 albums to see if Sabbath was going to make it. You saved my favourite album of the 50 for last, whewww. Was amazing seeing two KK's on stage at the Hall of Fame. They looked great side by side, hope Priest tours like that after this. Roar Lions Roar!

It was great seeing Judas Priest rocking that stage, especially with KK. Unfortunately it may be a while before anything takes place with KK. It would be awesome and never say never! Finishing on a high here Darcy, all pretty much 10/10 albums. I'm sure appetite has had a big impact for most people. Gave it a listen in the summer for the first time in years and it was phenomenal, Rocket Queen is probs my fav closing song. AIC I think are pretty metal, not to be ignored by metal fans. I wonder if Accept regret not putting Animal House out under there name, what an album. Really good series Darcy. Hopefully you can expand it to cover those other topics.

I have a lot of these. Great choices. You got me thinking though. I don't think I could do a favourites albums list because what I'm listening to changes so often, and some albums I love I haven't listened to in years. It would be easier for me to name albums that have been important to me in my life.

Just finished all five parts and really enjoyed the entire series. If I had done a similar series, I’m sure many of my choices would mirror yours, whether that’s because you and I are the same age or they’re objectively great albums. I also really enjoyed your sharing of how you discovered these. I’ve always dug that type of storytelling, as I’ve done some of that myself, and plan on some more when I do Part 3 of my Metal Origin story. Anyhoo, great videos, Darcy. Cheers!

Slaaaaaayer!!!!! Lol. Love these selections Dirt is the only “grunge” album I’ve ever liked. Like you said, more metal than your typical grunge. Pretty much all of these are just essential records. Great choices. I absolutely love appetite , but it’s hard not to skip some of those tracks 😂. Just don’t need to hear them again! Loved this series. Up the irons brother!🤟
Nice video! Shout is my all time favorite, with Master second, & Hysteria third. Love the inclusion of AIC! But we will agree to disagree on Dirt being “metal”. Their first release, Facelift, was much more metal than Dirt imo. To me they never matched Facelift & they were amazing live as well. Saw them with Sepultura & Ozzy here in the states, back in the day! 🤘🏼

Oh,Alice In Chains! Facelift and Dirt,both albums sound very metal to me and I could never associate this band with the entire grunge movement.Soundgarden too,especially first three albums-great stuff. The rest of grunge was crap ,in my opinion.Well,maybe the debut Pearl Jam album was nice. L7-all female grunge band,they were not bad either. Their "Bricks Are Heavy" album was actually quite good.
Seen AIC 1991 and 1995. I liked Dirt tour more. Instead of seeing Slayer in November 1986, I visited my brother at his school, I told him and said, I would have gone to see Slayer instead. Powerslave? I only like three songs on that album. The rest sucked. Aces, Power and Rime were the only songs I liked. I threw my copy of GNR- Appetite in the trash, I still don’t like the band. April 1988 I saw Anthrax open for Kiss. Great band. Kiss was boring. Even though I knew Black Sabbath since 1973, Heaven and Hell is my favorite. I just watched my dvd Neon Nights 30 Years of Heaven & Hell Live at Wacken. My favorite vocalist is RJD. 🤘🎸

Spreading The Desease and Among The Living-great albums! I loved that period in the band's history,later on,when they started to fool around and became a goofy band-I kind of dropped off. I returned to Anthrax when they released Sound Of White Noise-an amazing album.But it was no longer thrash metal,I think.
Dirt 🙌 I like Unplugged just as much! For a band called grunge, i just thought it was rock/metal on the doomy side 😅 Now we got all kinds of names for genres and subgenres and everything in between 😂 I just like music that i like. I may not understand the correct name for what type it is, i just know if i like it. And i love Dirt 🖤🪖
Great stuff mate. The Judas Priest induction to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was an amazing (near) end of year event. Absolutely nailed it with those 3 classic tunes. They still sound so good!
AC/DC - I'm a above average fan. Studio albums: studio, live, boxset, compilation - Back In Black, vinyl I got in 1980; cassette for the car; CD in the 90s; Bonfire in 1996, got it through Columbia House preorder basis for $20 (free shipping) it had another Back In Black as a tribute to Bon Scott.
Sounds like you have a awesome collection! It’s always cool to hear from people who have those “special to them” bands, it would be so boring if we all loved the same bands lol. There’s definitely a few AC/DC albums that have a special place for me ⚡️

It was funny to hear a prayer over in a comedy ... he trying not to offend the possible 50% of the two women - one may have been a feminist? Lol.
Seeing K.K. play with Judas Priest made them sound like Priest again. Without Glenn or K.K., it just doesn't sound like JP. More like a Rob Halford solo band. That twin guitar attack played a big part in the Priest sound. I know this band isn't metal, but Rush's "2112" played a big part in getting me into heavier music when I was a kid, and was the first live concert I ever saw.

Hope KK rejoins or is able to. Andy Sneap is a great guitarist agreed but also a great producer 👍🏾. They needed him afte producing Firepower because they are a two guitarist band. So sad about Glen . But it would work, if they don't we still have KK's Priest.. We will see what happens. Take care.

I would love to see K.K. Downing back in Judas Priest! As long as he continues his other project KK’s Priest. Sermons of the Sinner was one of my favorite albums last year. I read an interview with Rob Halford this week, he said that the new Priest album is basically done and that he just needs to finish the vocal tracks. Spoiler alert, if I ever do a Black Sabbath ranking, Heaven and Hell will be my #1

I own all of these except for the UDO album. Most every metal fan should own the majority of these. If not, something is very wrong. I would say Reign in Blood is my favorite here. I was never the same after I heard that. Dirt, Peace Sells, Powerslave, Heaven & Hell & Shout at the Devil are all classics.

You need to watch again , I was saying those that don’t hold Faster Pussycat’s debut in as high regard as Appetite For Destruction , most see the G’N’R as the superior album & “I get it” !

Never really liked any of grunge when it hit. I fkn hated it and it was trend before nu metal came in. It all was overshadowing other things that did get a little exposure was far far better than the grunge BS. But Alice in chains I definitely don't lump them in to that whole grunge. Yes they were from Seattle and had the "look" but that's about it. Alice was a bluesy psychedelica hard rock band. Period. Jerry Cantrell was influenced by all the guitar greats iommi Hendrix Beck Clapton page and you can kinda hear that all throughout their sound

Not gonna lie I'm quite shocked at GnR & AinC making your top 10. The power slave Eddie is my favorite. Being a huge Egyptian historical freak it was a match made in heaven. Is that a black Cassette? I love the black cassettes Canada had I so need to acquire copies of my fav bands of those. I will say that's a great mixture of releases. And yes the new one is so good I promise ya you will love it if ya like their first too. Erik is absolutely a phenomenal vocalist. If I remember correctly most of UDOs band on His Debut are Warlock members... Yes!!! Heaven and hell is my favorite BS album!!!!. So hard to formulate a top 50. Know my top 10-20 easily the rest would be tough to narrow down. 🤘🍻

The other maiden albums are sooo far away. There are just "no words" for the best Black sabbath album you mentioned. Well done for having UDO in the best! i agree ofcourse with the Animal house, but SOlID is so near too. The other choices ofcourse were expected. Nice. The whole top 50 heavy metal albums thing you made was cool! Maybe you should do the same with the top 100 metal songs of all time, but this is too hard. Or alternative , you can take the best 5 songs of every band , but also hard..
Cool that you mentioned U.D.O. Solid , that one , Timebomb , No Limits & Holy are four albums that I highly recommend if you like Animal House ! Top 100 metal songs you say … wow that would be tough lol , but you never know 😉

I am dying to see your W.A.S.P. ranking!!!I can see and hear The Crimson Idol in the background,great album ,the continuation of the entire concept Blackie did later was a lot worse,unfortunately. The debut album,The Last Command,Inside The Electric Circus,Live...In The Raw,Headless Children and The Crimson Idol-those albums I ABSOLUTELY love. I am not sure about the rest of the band's catalog,many of the later albums were quite bad,in my opinion.Well,Double Live Assasins album was good but only because Chris Holmes joined the band for that tour.

I went to the show in Dallas with WASP/Michael Schenker Group/Armored Saint. The fire dept. shut the show down before WASP came on cuz the promoter sold 3200 tix to 2K capacity venue. It sucked. Haven't seen WASP since they opened for Kiss in 1986.

I agree with you that the first Faster Pussycat album is just as good as Appitite, I was lucky enough to see both bands play on the same bill here in the uk, promoting thier first albums. Hey Darcy! Great choices once again. Can't wait for that WASP ranking and I have also been jamming to some Crimson Idol for the last couple of days. It was great seeing Judas Priest rocking that stage, especially with KK. Unfortunately it may be a while before anything takes place with KK. It would be awesome and never say never! Finishing on a high here Darcy, all pretty much 10/10 albums. I'm sure appetite has had a big impact for most people. Gave it a listen in the summer for the first time in years and it was phenomenal, Rocket Queen is probs my fav closing song. AIC I think are pretty metal, not to be ignored by metal fans. I wonder if Accept regret not putting Animal House out under there name, what an album. Really good series Darcy. Hopefully you can expand it to cover those other topics.

Just finished all five parts and really enjoyed the entire series. If I had done a similar series, I’m sure many of my choices would mirror yours, whether that’s because you and I are the same age or they’re objectively great albums. I also really enjoyed your sharing of how you discovered these. I’ve always dug that type of storytelling, as I’ve done some of that myself, and plan on some more when I do Part 3 of my Metal Origin story. Anyhoo, great videos, Darcy. Cheers!

Slaaaaaayer!!!!! Lol. Love these selections Dirt is the only “grunge” album I’ve ever liked. Like you said, more metal than your typical grunge. Pretty much all of these are just essential records. Great choices. I absolutely love appetite , but it’s hard not to skip some of those tracks 😂. Just don’t need to hear them again! Loved this series. Up the irons brother!🤟
Nice video! Shout is my all time favorite, with Master second, & Hysteria third. Love the inclusion of AIC! But we will agree to disagree on Dirt being “metal”. Their first release, Facelift, was much more metal than Dirt imo. To me they never matched Facelift & they were amazing live as well. Saw them with Sepultura & Ozzy here in the states, back in the day! 🤘🏼

Oh,Alice In Chains! Facelift and Dirt,both albums sound very metal to me and I could never associate this band with the entire grunge movement.Soundgarden too,especially first three albums-great stuff. The rest of grunge was crap ,in my opinion.Well,maybe the debut Pearl Jam album was nice. L7-all female grunge band,they were not bad either. Their "Bricks Are Heavy" album was actually quite good.
Seen AIC 1991 and 1995. I liked Dirt tour more. Instead of seeing Slayer in November 1986, I visited my brother at his school, I told him and said, I would have gone to see Slayer instead. Powerslave? I only like three songs on that album. The rest sucked. Aces, Power and Rime were the only songs I liked. I threw my copy of GNR- Appetite in the trash, I still don’t like the band. April 1988 I saw Anthrax open for Kiss. Great band. Kiss was boring. Even though I knew Black Sabbath since 1973, Heaven and Hell is my favorite. I just watched my dvd Neon Nights 30 Years of Heaven & Hell Live at Wacken. My favorite vocalist is RJD. 🤘🎸

IDK if you ever mentioned them or not but what your thoughts on LA guns self titled '88 debut? I know it gets some shit because of the "hair" metal thing. And yeah but Tracii guns is such a underrated guitarist. That album is gritty sleazy with some pretty hard riffs. Imo better than gnr's appetite

Spreading The Desease and Among The Living-great albums! I loved that period in the band's history,later on,when they started to fool around and became a goofy band-I kind of dropped off. I returned to Anthrax when they released Sound Of White Noise-an amazing album.But it was no longer thrash metal,I think.

For a band called grunge, i just thought it was rock/metal on the doomy side 😅 Now we got all kinds of names for genres and subgenres and everything in between 😂 I just like music that i like. Studio albums: studio, live, boxset, compilation - Back In Black, vinyl I got in 1980; cassette for the car; CD in the 90s; Bonfire in 1996, got it through Columbia House preorder basis for $20 (free shipping) it had another Back In Black as a tribute to Bon Scott.

I don't mean to be offensive, but I have a religious upbringing - that I have the tendency to say "amen" in agreement... but I saw this comment in a comedy movie, the man was at a table said a prayer by ending with "aman" but looked around the table and added "but for those of who may have been offended 'a-woman' ..." and had to laugh - lol. It was funny to hear a prayer over in a comedy ... he trying not to offend the possible 50% of the two women - one may have been a feminist? Lol.
Seeing K.K. play with Judas Priest made them sound like Priest again. Without Glenn or K.K., it just doesn't sound like JP. More like a Rob Halford solo band. That twin guitar attack played a big part in the Priest sound. I know this band isn't metal, but Rush's "2112" played a big part in getting me into heavier music when I was a kid, and was the first live concert I ever saw.

I knew Ozzy and Dio before Sabbath as well. "Heaven and Hell" was my first one , bought in Hungary. It was the Soviet pressing that had the backcover drawing as the actual cover.
The German scene was meaner and dirtier because they all worked underground in coalmines, hehehe.... f**k sunny California, hahaha.... Dirty, rainy German soil made us what we are!

I would love to see K.K. Downing back in Judas Priest! As long as he continues his other project KK’s Priest. Sermons of the Sinner was one of my favorite albums last year. I read an interview with Rob Halford this week, he said that the new Priest album is basically done and that he just needs to finish the vocal tracks. Spoiler alert, if I ever do a Black Sabbath ranking, Heaven and Hell will be my #1

I own all of these except for the UDO album. Most every metal fan should own the majority of these. If not, something is very wrong. I would say Reign in Blood is my favorite here. I was never the same after I heard that. Dirt, Peace Sells, Powerslave, Heaven & Hell & Shout at the Devil are all classics.

Never really liked any of grunge when it hit. I fkn hated it and it was trend before nu metal came in. It all was overshadowing other things that did get a little exposure was far far better than the grunge BS. But Alice in chains I definitely don't lump them in to that whole grunge. Yes they were from Seattle and had the "look" but that's about it. Alice was a bluesy psychedelica hard rock band. Period. Jerry Cantrell was influenced by all the guitar greats iommi Hendrix Beck Clapton page and you can kinda hear that all throughout their sound

Not gonna lie I'm quite shocked at GnR & AinC making your top 10. The power slave Eddie is my favorite. Being a huge Egyptian historical freak it was a match made in heaven. Is that a black Cassette? I love the black cassettes Canada had I so need to acquire copies of my fav bands of those. I will say that's a great mixture of releases. And yes the new one is so good I promise ya you will love it if ya like their first too. Erik is absolutely a phenomenal vocalist. If I remember correctly most of UDOs band on His Debut are Warlock members... Yes!!! Heaven and hell is my favorite BS album!!!!. So hard to formulate a top 50. Know my top 10-20 easily the rest would be tough to narrow down. 🤘🍻
As I said throughout this whole series these aren’t ranked in any particular order , they are just 50 albums that mean a lot to me over the years , so don’t be too shocked 😂

I think if I didn’t restrict it to just one album for each band it would certainly change things in a big way , we all got our favourites right haha !
