Before V4’s you had to decide did you want torque or high rpm horsepower from a bike. The V4 combines both midrange torque and high rpm horsepower. It’s like combing a triple with a V2.or v2 with in line 4. This year Diavel could become more than a niche bike with this engine. Great cruiser/ tourer and not 800 pounds! Long service intervals icing on the cake. Love the 4 pipe exhaust similar 3 pipe exhaust MV AGusta telling others something special. Of course the cool tail light. No mods needed. Look at the msrp of Harley cvo, this is a bargain and not seen on every corner like a Harley or Honda motorcycle.
With all due respect for Evans, for a channel this big the presentation and script reading fall a bit flat compared to the video footage and to the bike description seen on other motorcycling journalism channels. I don't mean this comment as an attack, but rather as constructive criticism so it can be improved, since everything else on the video is great!
The cylinder deactivation just like cars more for fuel mileage and emissions. Yes, deactivation helps mileage on air cooled bikes but may decrease heat a little at traffic lights. With liquid cooled bikes the coolant temp will not drop at the traffic light.
Actually deactivation is a nightmare as only one portion of the engine gets heated and other cools . Well I guess Italian people get reliability right a long time ago
I had a 17 monster 1200 R and 16 1200 s. They’re premium as hell. Since those bikes i know Ducati has just made insanity. The 9k oil changes are cool but they’re probably $400 once you get one. And same for the valve service at 30k+, that’ll probably cost $3k when the time comes. I get it Ducati is premium. But I want people to know the real cost of servicing one regardless of the improvements they’ve made.
More car emission stuff moving to bikes. Stability control, cylinder deactivation, VVT, with forced induction/hybrid on the horizon. Full EV bikes will probably arrive faster. More range with faster charging stations. What the public does not understand is MOST public charging is slow, inexpensive level 2 charging. PRIVATE TESLA superchargers are all level 3 DC fast chargers.
Way too complex in design. The Italian bikes are already well-known for being expensive to maintain and sometimes questionable in long-term durability, and the first three minutes of the video do everything to further undermine my confidence that the bike will be there for the long haul.
I'd love to hear the bike while you talk about it.
1:28 What the heck is that chain doing?!
It’s an Italian VMAX1700 with an OEM 240 wide wheel kit.
Vmax Or this
What u recommend?
@@Alisa_114 VMAX for me. I had a 2013 1199 Panigale and it was beautiful but unreliable. But I also drive Lexus not BMW so it's up to you.

That's not how v2 x v2= v4 works
My only complaint is I don’t have one. I’ll even keep the stock exhaust with a modification of my own means.
Awesome looking bike, I really enjoyed my XDiavel, maybe this will be my next bike one day hmm 🤔?

I'd like to try to make some S'mores with that exhaust.
9 k oil change lol. Ya ok. And cylinder deactivation sounds like a reliability nightmare

Yet has been reliable, weird
9k oil change on the Multi DVT. I got to 29k before the con rod bearings turned into confetti. Fucking stupid service intervals.
The key question is if you own a 1260S Diavel is the V4 worth the upgrade? Based on what I've seen and read, not really.
feeling the same way, and I may skip ordering a V4 and just stick with the 1260S.
I agree. I have an XDiavel. Looks wise, new one falls short.
Bike world channel shows power triumph rocket 3 vs Old Diavel drag strip. Both very similar
Nice review of a sharp bike.

$400 for an oil change? You really need to spend the 20 minutes on a UA-cam video and save yourself $300!
this dude is 6'10 and hes describing the ergonomics
Vroom vroom I want one ... They are so cheap worth it
Cylinder deactivation on a 500 lb motorcycle for what? 😩
I could ride this!
Only one thing matters with this, looks like it sounds.
For the Diavel isn’t this a whole new engine? I thought old Diavels were twins?
Oh and surprise a $27k Ducati is fun to ride…
I want to say it’s just Ducati’s normal V4 tweaked slightly. But yep pricey bike.
Yes it’s the same engine that is in the multistrada
Different cams, cam timing, intake, and exhaust. Also has a shorter first gear than the Multistrada.
I thought the counter rotating crank was new for the Diavel. It's a cool bike that I'll never own.
It seems like you guys aren’t putting much effort into your videos past few times
Sorry you feel that way. I’ll try do do better on the next one.

Looks wise I like the old XDiavel best. Why cylinder deactivation? On a motorcycle? Too complex. Boo!
Guys… what bike should I get for my first??? Please advise me would greatly appreciate it!!! :)))
Well not this one , maybe start with a Honda Monkey 🐒⛽️
Cool bike. Not worth $28k.
From 4 cyclinder to 2 cyclinder….what the heck, whoever buy a ducati doesnt care about fuel, specially ducati owners….get rid of that!
Ducati owners do care about rear cylinder heat, which is the primary reason for killing the rear cylinders.
Make your review for the arabs!
Thank god the chinese isn’t in this video
Stupid, or racist, or both?
