I test rode a used 2022 Diavel 1260S with 790 miles on it last month. I was not in the market to buy anything, I was just curious about the Ducati version of what a cruiser should be. Of course it was Ducati Red with the red frame, the stying is gorgeous; typical Italian. I took that bike home the next day. Fantastic machine. No buyer's remorse whatsoever. No regrets. A morning ride on it is far better than any caffeine drink to wake you up and get you ready for the day ahead.
Not shared this with any other channel but i thought I would here.... This would be my dream bike, don't think I'll ever own one but I'm so incredibly grateful to just be able to ride at all... I've got a 2014 Kawasaki z800, it's not the fastest, best handling or even the most characterful bike... But it means the world to me because back in 2020 I almost lost my right leg and life in a skating accident. I used to compete at a very high level (state titles) but my leg snapped in 9 places, full bone on view, lost a litre of blood, compartment syndrome, infection and just had a knee reconstruction. But I'm so so grateful that I can swing my titanium leg over my Z800 and potter around riding the streets. My z800 is just a bike, cost me 5 grand but it saved my soul. I have a Gen 1 Diavel, when mine went for a service last week, I managed to borrow a V4 Diavel for a few hours. Absolutely amazing machine. Totally different to the Gen 1.
I had a Rocket and I really didn’t like the previous Diavel and this made me buy one. I definitely think it’s different and will likely appeal to varying tastes. I thought the previous generation was really out of proportion. This looks like a street fighter that’s gained weight over Covid. 😂 I love it.
Yes in Europe it's 30k Euros, that Akra exhaust is a skip because it's race pipe and not legal in many countries, crazy prices, wondering what would be Ducati Diavel V4 S price 😕
I have a 2022 XDiavel and test rode the V4. In red, it looks like a jigsaw puzzle with 2/3 pieces gone. More plastic! Looks cheaper, less premium except wheels very nice. (Cool exhaust, turn signals, tail lights though.) Busy, complicated design but better in black. Overall, old Diavel better looking. Tech- plenty vs too much, eg., cylinder deactivation (which cannot be unprogrammed) is stupid but Ducati lawyers want it. Boo! Just one more thing to fail then you have a 115hp bike instead of a 168hp one until you take it in. We don’t care about a few spoons of fuel savings. Just give me 4 cylinders all the time please! In short, I’ll keep my current one regardless of cost. If they used the V4 and kept everything else the same, I’d get one.
It’s a beautiful , wicked and Kool all wrapped up in one package , I definitely want it even being 67 years old thanks Chops for sharing the temptation
I rode the Gen1 Diavel when it was first launched. It was the first Ducati I ever rode and I fell in love. The V4 must be immense! That or the Rocket would be the only 2 cruisers I'd consider. Happy with my Monster currently though. Get that bloody 'Tard sorted and have some Ducati fun! :D
The phrase a Kid in a candy store reflects how I think you feel about this bike and truthfully I think i'm the same , what a machine it almost makes you re fall in love with motorbikes again .
Great review! Your enthusiasm comes accross by the bucket load. Looks like you might have to wait until the S version comes out with adaptive suspension.
You've sold it to me I think I will get that one in 5 years time when I can afford it , I am a fan of Ducati I can see you getting one , thanks again for an excellent review
You deserve a big discount when you buy one 😏I think all your subscribers will want one as well , Great videos Chopsy , you are getting very good at this game 👍👍
8:55 More than likely you're experiencing the bikes cylinder deactivation mode for emissions. The bike will run on 2 cylinders below certain RPM and load to save gas. Love the videos mate!
Awesome bike, saw it at the Motorbeurs event in Utrecht. Such an impressive bike to see irl. Would love to see a 'more affordable' V2 version of it like the Streetfighter/Multi.
The more affordable V2 ones are available and plentiful used. If it’s a Ducati you don’t really need two more cylinders and they are more fun and visceral anyway.
Well this was the review I have been waiting for. Especially after watching your rocket video. I have owned two diavels over the last 11 years. Absolutely love them. I have been looking at the 1260 diavel this year, but then ducati bought this out. So happy that they have re introduced the rear folding rear foot pegs again on the V4. So between the 1260 and the V4🤔. What I don't like is the stupid looking 4 tail pipes, also how hard to clean would them rear under seat light be🤔 However great reviews brother, thank you.
The rear seat honeycomb isn't all that hard to clean as the holes are chamfered, your cloth or sponge wipes the dirt out (most of the dirt goes between the two honeycombs anyway).
I’ve always had a mild curiosity about the Diavel but have preferred the Multi. This latest version seems like a great improvement, I can’t wait to see one in person. Enjoyed your review, you obviously need to buy one. 😁
Thanks for the great review. Awesome machine, with art-work styling. I look forward to the Rocket 3 comparison Chopsy, especially as you were saying only in your last review that the Rocket ticks all the boxes - can't wait.
Boaght a new Diaviel in 2013, awesome machine, stunning looking………but and a big but, the electrical faults, keyless fob packed in, fuel sender unit ditto, sensor on side stand ditto, HT leads faulty, this is on a new bike. Kept the bike for 5 years, to be fair most of the faults were in the first 2 years, what killed it for me was when the indicator switch fell off and I had to ride it back to the Ducati dealership indicating right for 10 miles. Had to pay to have it fixed, Ducati offered peanuts for a P/X, sold it to a multi franchise dealership for a better price.
Awesome bike...had gen 2 but had various issues with it so part chopped it for an enduro multi...loved the look then of the diavel and still do. This is another level again.
My only negative comment about the new Diavel is that I prefer the trellis frame of the previous model. That trellis frame in red adds so much to the styling of the machine, pure Italian stying.
Diavel and Rocket now in completely different categories, Rocket is a 300kg torque monster Cruiser, Diavel is a big power but lighter Supernaked, in specialness it’s a close call but they play to different wants and needs, both cool bikes 😎 the massive weight difference really is the defining point. Really enjoyed my R3 as it so unique with this incredible sense of effortless power without need for revs, the Diavel I’d put more up against KTM SuperDukeGT or Tuono non factory perhaps, powerful but need to be ragged to go quick 🤔 & it’s not a cruiser. Big fan of the original hooligan Diavel, enjoyed the 1260S to ride but found uncomfortable after an hour’s riding. It was a shame Chopsy didn’t get to compare R3 with quick shifter. This v4 certainly looks more bulked up, not sure about the exhaust and the optional Akra is silly money. it’s funny Chopsy thinks the R3 is front ‘cruiser’ when most cruisers are forward pegs 😆 I do like the longer service intervals now and love V4s and own an OG 1985 Vmax. Still won’t roll on like a Rocket in higher gears (*nothing does) but undoubtedly faster bike and still torquier than everything else. I think a Chopsy nailed it with this V4, a GT, if Ducati have got the comfort right this time then it’s a home run 😎
Nice bike. I would like to have one. Only problem is dealer network. If my dealer goes out of business, the next closest is 200 miles away. I owned the previous generation R3 and liked it. I liked the the last Ducati i bought as well, but it had issues almost as soon as i put 200 miles on it. Now that is anecdotal and model specific i admit. I also believe the R3 would be way easier to service/repair in the absence of authorized dealer. Then there is the fact that a good tune on the R3 does wonders. Truth be told after all that i have said though; is that i had better stay away from my dealer, because there's a good chance i would throw caution to the wind and ride out on one of these.
I'm not really into these cruiser motorcycles although the Rocket 3 and the Diavel are something special......but that litalian styling on that Ducati is gorgeous.......Chops what are you doing to me.......I'm now looking at how I can convince myself to part with £20,000 plus...... Everytime I see my bank manager for a loan he's going to say......"you've seen another Chops video haven't you!" 😂😂 Great review again Chops , that's my Sunday morning viewing sorted. 👍😊
Chop’s , reference the comment about being 51 and not wanting to buy a bike every year. I said exactly the same… At 62 , I have failed miserably, changing bikes regularly year on year. By the way, thanks to you, I have a test ride booked on the Diavel next Friday 😂😂 keep up the good work !
My final three choices were Rocket3, H2 SX and DV4. The winner was the DV4. I love it,part cruiser part sport bike. Has the speed, handling and comfort all in one. My Harley Breakout 114 didn’t even come close to this bike!
You and other UA-camrs have convinced me this is the bike to get. I want an ‘all rounder’ the Streetfighter is close but for touring I don’t think it’d be great . To me the Diavel feels like a muscular SFV4. I’m also quite heavy as you can see from my profile pic (107kg) the SF just felt a little toyish (a demonic toy, but, a toy nonetheless)
@7:08. I recall when the original Diavel came out Ducati claimed it was the fastest accelerating Ducati ever because of the length and weight. Even faster than a 1198 at the time.
Sounds like someone is in love and I don't blame you, I have a feeling lambchop will be purchasing a new bike soon. Expensive but so is an HD and you get so much more with the duck. Thanks for the test now I want one too😂
Think you will be having to make room in the new garage soon Chopsy .👍😁 great review and one smart looking machine. Only thing I don't like is those rear wheel hugger type number plate things .! Looking forward to the comparison with the rocket .👍👍
I'm getting to the age where I'm starting to consider a cruiser. Lol. That's exactly where I'm at. When I ride my Triumph Sprint ST it's just such a pleasure. Comfortable arm and leg position and a comfortable seat. Then I get on my Ninja ZX14R with my body weight on my arms and wrist bent forward and legs a bit cramped. It's loud and fast as F. Love the blistering acceleration and speed. But do I really enjoy it more than the Sprint. At my age of 61. 🤷. This Ducati is now very much on my radar now with the V4 Fast as F and comfortable. Tempting for sure. I gotta try one now. Thanks Chopsy
Wins in what category? In acceleration. A bit. Probably in twisty roads. But what the general style, finishing of details, perfect view from all sides, ability to ride all the day (and day after day), reliability...?
@@ichbinmartin I was just referring to Chopsy's and Greg's comparison's video they're planning to do. I realise that they're both excellent bikes, and that, beauty + everything else about a bike is personal preference. As it turns out, brilliant as they are, I'd still choose to buy 2 - 3 cheaper bikes, instead of either of these, but that's not what the comparison is all about. However, if I had to pick one of these, I'd pick the Rocket 3, as I think it's better looking, and I'd never be able to ride either to their true potential.
@@Jaffa1951 I am also looking forward to the comparison. on R3GT I have 20000km in almost one year. On DV4 I sat only on the motorcycle show, but it feels much smaller, different sitting position, so not for me. I don't care about riding on the edge like MotoGP or riding only 1000km yearly. I want motorcycle ready for riding in town and also long distances. R3GT is maybe not the best for both, but has a lot of something, what no other bike has.
I test rode one yesterday. Impressive. Cons: soooo much plastic. Handlebars seem too narrow and I felt my hands were slipping of the edges of the grips because of this. Foot controls are in a weird position. Especially the right side, I felt like I couldn't relax my right foot without pressing the brake pedal down. Exhaust looks cool, but sounds like a sewing machine. Everything else seemed fine. Loads of torque and HP.
Chopsy, you are, coincidentally, saying out loud all the things I'm thinking (at the age of nearly 48) in my own head. I'm thinking of chopping in my Street triple 675 and MT09-SP in the next few years to just have one bike that I can keep for 10+ years, like I have with my Triumph.
Sell albeit reluctantly but buy the V4 Diavel. Spent a day with it and can’t fault it, not many have or can. MCN bike of the year 2023 I wager. In RED though !!!! Could be the only bike anyone will ever need.
Why didn't they paint the front mudguard? reminds me of the 1.3L cheap escort in the 80's when you paid extra for the colour-coded bumpers. Akrapovic exhaust is £5037 plus fitting! Just to make bad points so you don't buy. It's a £30,000 bike with color-coding and Akrapovic.
Chopsy, Have you ridden the previous 1260s? If so, how does the new v4 compare to the previous model? I'm looking at buying one or the other and think your reviews and assessments are always pretty spot on. Coming off sportbikes and want something more relaxed but still capable. Love the look of the new v4 but the price tag is a bit heafty.. so really considering the 1260s instead.
I rode the v4 last year I had the afternoon on it courtesy of Ducati Manchester 👍it's very hard to fault a truly wonderful bike. And the 1260s it's predecessor ? Well I rode that too and I felt it was more a sense of occasion like only a V twin can be. And now on the market for around 13k . It's an interesting proposition but my hearts with a twin it goes like stink stops on a dime is 90 percent of the v4 fior nearly half the price. 👌👍🏍🇮🇹
This bike is more of a heavier, muscular naked bike than a cruiser, I would compare this more to a Z H2. When I rode the Xdiavel however, I got a bit of cruiser vibes but nothing from this bike. I would not buy this and say to people that I bought a cruiser, this is really a sport bike with a 240 rear tire, lets not kid our self. The Rocket 3 with forward controls however, that bike really amazes me, and really feels like a cruiser. These bikes are sooo expensive though. I am thinking of buying the Rocket 3 used later on when I am ready to move on to a cruiser. I would compare the Rocket 3 to the Xdiavel instead but maybe they do not have an Xdiavel V4 yet?
Lamb Chop, we are of similar size and age, forgetting the cost, if you wanted to do technical back roads or the odd 300mi. day would you purchase the Diavel V4 or the Panigale V2? If they were both not so sweet looking it would probably be an easier choice. Tks,
19:27 This might be a specific UK thing, I'm not sure, but do some new bikes really appreciate in value there? Here in Portugal, and I'd guess pretty much everywhere else, the moment you ride them out of the dealership parking lot they've depreciated 10 to 15%, and after 2 years you can't sell any bike for more than 70% of its price when new...
Let's be honest here. It's a hyper naked pretending to be a cruiser. Gorgeous and absolutely pointless. I need one!!! 😍
I test rode a used 2022 Diavel 1260S with 790 miles on it last month. I was not in the market to buy anything, I was just curious about the Ducati version of what a cruiser should be. That bike looks fantastic in red.
The Rocket and the Diavel are not just cruisers; they're imperial battlecruisers!

I thought I was headed to old man cruiser mode at 60; and almost got a Diavel.....BUT I went with the Panigale v4S.
Great review! It looks amazing.
Great review. I take it that you quite liked it 😀
I'd like to see an iteration of this for an attempt at touring say with a wind screen and bags.
Nice review. What kind of gloves are you wearing in this video?
Knox Gloves, there is a link to them in the description 👍
Beast of a bike love it
Stunning bike chops great review you said you could take it touring ? Keep up the great vids
Yes absolutely you could!
Spoiler alert: Diavel V4 / Rocket 3 comparison - Diavel wins - hands down
Can see it coming can’t you.. poor old Rocket has been chucked out of his future garage 😂
@@ichbinmartinIt looks more like a naked sports bike, not a cruiser.
Stunning bike 🥂❤️
I test rode one yesterday. Impressive. Cons: soooo much plastic. Handlebars seem too narrow and I felt my hands were slipping of the edges of the grips because of this. Foot controls are in a weird position. Especially the right side, I felt like I couldn't relax my right foot without pressing the brake pedal down. Exhaust looks cool, but sounds like a sewing machine. Everything else seemed fine. Loads of torque and HP.
Fantastic review
Thanks Ben 👍
@@LambChopRides 👍
Chopsy, you are, coincidentally, saying out loud all the things I'm thinking (at the age of nearly 48) in my own head.
I'm thinking of chopping in my Street triple 675 and MT09-SP in the next few years to just have one bike that I can keep for 10+ years, like I have with my Triumph.
Beautiful machine Chops
Chopsy; loving your video footage/content/angles, great quality, which camera/s are you using to record these videos on please..?
Insta360 cameras on the bike 👍
Great video 😍😍😍. How is the ground clearance??
Chopsy you’ve already got your check book out 💰💰
Great bike great video chopsy
Where is that hill climb Rd? Cheers
Lee
Can't give away the secrets Lee hehe 😜
@@LambChopRides 🤣🤣🤣ya bugger!!
Chopsy is in love I think 😃😍
I wonder how this bike compares to the zh2 considering they are both unique from their respective segments. Thoughts?
Great review chops. Would be good to see a shot of you riding it from the side of the road so I can understand leg positioning. Is that possible?
Buy one!!
The bike is a beaut, a super cruiser. Class. Those riding shoes???
They are Furygan Go or something like that, link in the description 👍
Hi are you wearing a vest? Hard to tell because of the brightness but it looks like a nice vest. Where might I get one?
Sell albeit reluctantly but buy the V4 Diavel. Spent a day with it and can’t fault it, not many have or can. MCN bike of the year 2023 I wager. In RED though !!!! Could be the only bike anyone will ever need.
Why didn't they paint the front mudguard? reminds me of the 1.3L cheap escort in the 80's when you paid extra for the colour-coded bumpers. Akrapovic exhaust is £5037 plus fitting! Just to make bad points so you don't buy. It's a £30,000 bike with color-coding and Akrapovic.
Great vlog Chops. Just keep the GSXR and get one!
Chopsy,
Have you ridden the previous 1260s? If so, how does the new v4 compare to the previous model?
I'm looking at buying one or the other and think your reviews and assessments are always pretty spot on. Coming off sportbikes and want something more relaxed but still capable. Love the look of the new v4 but the price tag is a bit heafty.. so really considering the 1260s instead.
Could they have possibly given it shaft drive? It's a stunner tho having said that. Looking forward to the comparison video of it and the Rocket 3.
Yea
Shame they put chain into such expensive bike
I rode the v4 last year I had the afternoon on it courtesy of Ducati Manchester 👍it's very hard to fault a truly wonderful bike. And the 1260s it's predecessor ? Well I rode that too and I felt it was more a sense of occasion like only a V twin can be. And now on the market for around 13k . It's an interesting proposition but my hearts with a twin it goes like stink stops on a dime is 90 percent of the v4 fior nearly half the price. 👌👍🏍🇮🇹
That quad exhaust looks hideous to me. Looks like an afterthought. Otherwise, it seems like a great machine. Thanks for the review Chopsy!👍
Is this bike good for two up riding? I have HD Road King and I’d love to change it to DV4 assuming I can get my wife on it to ride with me.
Lamb Chop, we are of similar size and age, forgetting the cost, if you wanted to do technical back roads or the odd 300mi. day would you purchase the Diavel V4 or the Panigale V2? If they were both not so sweet looking it would probably be an easier choice. Tks,
It's a beauty.
Good review chops! When are you reviewing the new 765rs? 😊
Hopefully next week! 😁👍

This might be a specific UK thing, I'm not sure, but do some new bikes really appreciate in value there? Here in Portugal, and I'd guess pretty much everywhere else, the moment you ride them out of the dealership parking lot they've depreciated 10 to 15%, and after 2 years you can't sell any bike for more than 70% of its price when new...
Yeah they loose money, depends what it is. Buy the right bike and its not too bad. All depends how long you keep it
@@LambChopRidesBut @19:27 you said your H2 is still appreciating... How can that be?
As they don't sell them here anymore, they are becoming collectable. Mine now worth 5k more than I paid for it!
Dam that's one fine bike.....❤❤❤
Awesome bike! 👍🏼
