      People, diffusing essential oils or putting it on your body is not a healthy choice. Even when organic. Allergy, bad for lungs, skin, etc

    Clean and healthy is great, but remember that babies from after the first few months need some dirt, and contact with dogs because it is required to build their immunity. Obviously within reason. But going too far can be detrimental in the long run.

      Shes not talking about over cleaning and never allowing her children to touch dirt. She is saying dont clean with harmful chemicals. The dirt thing is true but i dont think that was her point. There are all natural cleaners that dont contain harmful chemicals. I think that was her point.

    I love that you are giving the idea for people to start with baby steps! I remember when I started changing my home 9 years ago, the thing I did was to make my own laundry detergent. It was fun and saved money, too. I did that for 8 years until I started buying Young Living’s Thieves natural laundry soap last year. I also use their household cleaner for every surface imaginable! Admittedly, I still enjoy/make some of my own products, though:)

  • @jaemonxD

    Great tips Sarah! I started my journey for a healthier home when I got pregnant as well. I would recommend using a cast iron pan and pots instead of non stick. I got the ones without the enamel coating so we could get the added benefit of iron intake in our diet, as I am often iron deficient. They are a little bit more maintenance but have been a great investment! It’s what our grandparents used to use when you think about it.

  • @carissawhitney7938

    I love making my own household cleaners (including laundry detergent). I use things like water, vinegar, castile soap, essential oils, etc...
    Also, what plants specifically do you use in your home? I'd love to get some for mine.
    I would love to see sort of a "mom mental health" video if that is something you would be interested in doing. Something touching on mental health and what you do to keep "mentally balanced" (for lack of a better term). Lol
    Love the new videos!!!!

      Hey, how do you make laundry detergent?
      I've been trying to do it myself but don't really know how so I've just been using baking soda with tea tree oil to hand wash stuff. Do you think that works?

    • @Js20639
      @Js20639 6 років тому

      There are quite a few recipes online but most contain a grated laundry bar of soap, washing soda and borax. Depending on the amount ,if any, you add you can have a powder, a cream or a liquid. I have been making mine for over 6 years. It is so cheap to make and works as well as store bought. Here is a link onelittleproject.com/homemade-super-laundry-sauce/

    I loved the video and want to adopt some of these habits! I just wanted to mention how there can be a thing as too clean. Obviously, you should dust and wipe down surfaces regularly but it's being found that the more sterile environment a child grows up in the more likely they will to get sick in the future because their immune system hasn't had a chance to encounter good and bad bacteria and develop, making it stronger. Everyone should keep their house clean, for sure, but maybe not too clean, if that makes sense? lol

    • @carissawhitney7938
      @carissawhitney7938 6 років тому +8

      I totally agree, and while my home is not as clean as Sarah's (not for lack of trying- lol) I feel like my kids get a really good share of germs from the park, school, stores, outtings, etc... When she mentioned kids licking things I laughed cuz it's not just my kids licking everything! Lol So I feel like there is a good balance.

    • @neuroscienxe9266
      @neuroscienxe9266 5 років тому +1

      It’s true! Animals grown in sterile environments not only get sick easier, but are smaller and weaker than animals who have immune systems that were challenged. What doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger!

      With the natural cleaners she is using her home is far from sterile. For those using bleach on all and everything those are the ones that you need to address. Sarah has a clean home and might look too clean to you because she has little clutter. What she is describing is more than ok.

    I absolutely love these videos!! I have slowly been trying to better myself and adopt these habits you always talk about. I even bought my first nutribullet, and have been making your famous green smoothie! I would love to see more "what i eat in a day" maybe even on the go meals! Also what are some of your favorite places to donate, I want to donate like 50% of my things but I feel guilty donating to money hungry companies. Oh and one more thing, Where i live we don't have any farmers markets or places to buy local meats (We once did but the extreme heat shut them down) so how can I buy smart at the grocery store? Thank you, Love you, Bye!!

    Hey, what a great video! Do you have rugs/carpets in your space? If so, how do you clean them? How do you employ your strategy to both the bathroom and the kitchen/fridge? I feel that keeping sinks, the bathroom tub and the floors as dry and as possible is a great way to keep things healthy. Natron, vinegar and citron juice really help. I have heard that we should never bring our shoes into our buildings due to chemicals from outdoors.

    I have a big question that I’d love to hear your answer on Sarah, or maybe even a video?? 🤔
    So, when you’re talking about your utensils, I did know a bit about the plastic utensils and chemicals released and whatnot, but I had also read a long time ago that wooden utensils are porous enough to hold moisture and can eventually spread bacteria and even possible start to mold a bit. Now, it’s been a long time since I read this so don’t quote me on specifics lol, but I think I’m remember correctly that that’s the gist of what I read lol. So I was thinking maybe a video about how you clean and then deep clean your wooden utensils and bowls if that’s something you do? Or how often you replace them? Stuff like that if you have an answer would be cool to know!
    Thanks!

    • @lindsayburns7916
      @lindsayburns7916 6 років тому +8

      I was wondering the same thing because I've also seen my own wooden utensils get a little grimy, and I can't put them in the dishwasher to sanitize them.

      Anja Eiting ah thank you! I never thought of that lol. I can’t use the trick mentioned above because I’m allergic to bleach, but the method you just mentioned makes a whole heck of a lot of sense now that I’m thinking about it lol. Thank you so much

    I highly recommend looking into the IQ air filter these are the best on the market in my opinion. I have two of them in my house and the difference is just amazing. They are expensive but so worth it.

    What type of laundry detergent do you use? I’ve been doing research and never realized all the bad things in laundry detergents!

    Your voice is so soothing and clear. Thank you for your videos. About the essential oil diffuser, I'm so scared to use one because of it being made of plastic and the water gets heated in the plastic receiver so I feel like that will poison the air. I don't know. Can you help with this query? Would love to know your thoughts

      Tge water doesnt actually get heated. At least in my diffuser, there isn't a heating element, the water stays relatively room temperature.

    I love the new style/content on your channel! My house is from 1928 and the windows don't open due to paint and them being so old. I would love to be able to open my windows and let a nice breeze in! (Plus I'm sure it's a fire hazard). Even though I am not Christian, I think it would be interesting to see a video on how you incorporate Christianity into your childrens' lives?

    Oh Sarah consider yourself lucky because of the clean air you breathe each day. Where I live the air is so polluted especially in the cold weather that even schools get cancelled all the time. I really wished at least my baby could breathe in a better quality air.

    Great video! Could I ask what the plant is behind you and Ivy (the big spiky succulent one)? Is it aloe or something else? Also, would you ever consider doing a house tour? Your living space always looks so bright, clean and airy, and I’d love to see it all!
