Dan's high school shop teaching background has given him the ability to explain things so clearly. Every video is a lesson in geology that you couldn't get in a classroom. I wish you luck, Dan. Keep posting these cool videos.
Nah some people are just good teachers. I've been training apprentices at work for about 6 years now and I'm still horrible at explaining things hahaha
@@thetinman104 I have to agree with you my man im trying to grow a channel on prospecting in Scotland and I'm learning quickly that im deffo not as skilled as Dan the man. Loving the vids and education I get not only in prospecting but also how to be a better UA-camr. Keep em' coming dan.

There is only one reason I'd miss a Dan Hurd premier, and that's being out digging for gold myself. I'm sure it will be a good one. I'll watch it when I get home tonight!
You should do a video on claims, what they are, how to get or do one, what does it apply to, etc. it would be cool to see the other behind the scenes of that part!
My daughter and I just found this channel and spent an hour watching video after video. Dan is just impossibly wholesome and fun to watch. Good on ya, Dan! You have new subs.
I really really really enjoy this claim, this claim needs its own series. Its got that buster scruggs miner kinda feel, its isolated, beautiful, and awesome to see the Northern Frasier, the edge of the world ^^
this honestly looks like a lot of fun. Great scenery, great weather, great exploration and great discovering while prospecting. The only thing that would make it better, would be having the wife/kids there to enjoy it with.
My wife and I camped, I think on the south side of the Fraser in 1979 during a huge flood season, there were upriver waves 10 to 15 ft and the roar was enough to make me think twice of going down from our camp, but I did one evening…I have been near several rivers at flood stage, but this event sent shivers through my body. There was no way that you wanted to go down to the waterline, especially alone.
It Just Keeps Falling Out That Beard, Dan! LOL!.....In The USA, Back In The '50s We Always Counted On/Used The "White Rock Fairy" For Making Things Happen! LOL! Things Have Progressed Just A Bit! Keep On Keeping It On Dan...Love It All!
So nice to enjoy time with a genuinely nice and sincere person sharing and teaching a common interest. Keep the great content coming and keep being you.
Ahhh wow, the yearly launching of the Ferry......that was fantastic and random........we launch a 26' pontoon boat, a little like that, not so smooth ;] Thanks for sharing your adventures in some rugged countryside.....
Excellent video, Dan. Appreciate you explaining your thought process about the gold possibilites, while walking up the gully and during the actual panning. The drone footage was awesome. Thank you for sharing.
This river is where my 4th great-grandfather Giovanni Battista Caraffa made a fortune gold mining during the Fraser river gold rush in 1858. He came into San Francisco in 1856 as a royal merchant marine ship captain, abandoned his ship and crew and went off for adventure. People in San Francisco were among the first to flood in during the gold rush on the Fraser. After he got a significant amount of gold, his brother came from their homeland in the Kingdom of Sardinia and they started a bakery in San Francisco.
I look for Indian artifacts, some days I find things and some days I don’t, but I always have a great time adventuring, thanks for the adventure today!!
Hey Dan good morning hope your doing great you and Pauly got me into looking for gold and I've actually been finding some here in Maryland one nugget that I gotta keep lol and a few pickers, always love seeing your videos keep them up and stay safe brother 🙏
Dan, I saw the gold in that last pan. WOW!!!! That's all on your clame. Lol, man, That's just awesome. Have a blast on your last day, I'll be watching. Benny
I drove all the way from Saskatchewan to Yale this weekend. LOL I learned my gold pan sucks I need one like you recommended. And don't forget to bring my boots. However I did find a nice large piece of obsidian Stone Wedge between some rock cracks. Was a good learning experience
Was waiting on him to say.."Always after me lucky charms" in that intro lol. Anyways between this guy, Chris Ralph, and Prospectors Jess. Those are the scientific background guys. Hi Dan - I have just joined the rockhounding community here in Quebec. It is always a pleasure to follow your adventures in your beautiful province of British Colombia - education and fun. Cheers !!
Your random pan full of rock from the spot under your feet sure paid off. I'd have dug that area the rest of the day. It was fun to walk the draw with you and then seeing the ferry launched was cool.
Hey Dan , a great Video and the Bedrock looks good for using a Detector . At 7.5. I`m in Vancouver and we will start a Minigoperation in the Yukon ;-). Kind regards Uwe
Hi Dan, Good to see you on your feet and looking healthy. That sluff/Mud is probably lake bottom from the big flood when the Fraser was dammed from the Great Slide. i like the way you look at things and the way you explain them.
Went prospecting in Denver last week and past up a place with a lot of blond sand. I chose a gravel bar and was finding some good. Another couple came up to the river and started working the area I had passed up. They found a lot more gold than I had. Lesson learned, gold is found where it is. Still a beautiful day on a nice river with a nice couple a short ways away.

That draw you are in was the old run off channel from the Hydraulic Pit up creek from you. You can still see the old flume on the cliff side where the roads go back together. I have a few pictures if you want them. Your drone would get a good picture there.
I've been binging your channel for about a week. I watched the video where you found about a 10 ounce nugget and I actually got really excited. I know nothing about prospecting but I'm having fun learning. I don't know what it is that makes me love this channel so much but keep up the good work.
