I don't know if this is a niche thing or not, because my short videos (music channel) got way fewer views than my usual videos. And because I spent more time making them than the normal videos (because of the captions), I stopped making them. I don't know if I was right or not in that decision, or if I needed to wait a bit more time
I've had a lot of success with it. I make long form Star Wars parodies, 20 min long scripted stories that I then clip up to 10+ shorts per episode. The shorts sometimes get millions of views and I send those people to the long video. The idea that "shorts viewers will give you bad watch time on long form" is not true for me at least, they actually watch the LONGEST out of all my traffic.
It looks like this kind of strategy works for comedy story channel(?) I've seen something like this in IamMobo channel. His long (compilation) and short videos are doing pretty good. It's looks like many people who watch comedy want to get laughs without swiping another video (just my own analytics tho, cmiiw)
I'm at 740 subs and I just want to say. Never give up your dreams. I once lost my channel with 600 subs. I was ready sad but then I created this one and got better results. Dnt give up. Thanks for reading
I create both types of content because shorts get me subscribers, and long videos get me watch time. I think this approach is necessary for new channels that want to get monetized faster.
@@Iamicedlatte Is your audience primary female? I have noticed lower views since early voting started in most states. I'm wondering if it's related. It could also be the rollout of October updates. Good luck!
As a full time creator I have now seen my long form videos get less views than my shorts and also shorts being in less ad revenue adding up to me getting less ad revenue over all. I’m not a fan of shorts at all and I feel like they’re hurting my channel.
I started a separate shorts channel for clips and whatnot, hoping to keep shorts subscribers away from the growth of my main channel. Is this a good idea?
I feel like you tube categorize your number of impressions in function of whether or not you do shorts if that makes sense. maybe I’m wrong, but I feel once I upload a long form video after a long streak of doing shorts I get barely any impression and then barely no impression afterward in shorts too. Maybe, for little to no audience( 10k subs and less) there’s not enough data on the channel to you tube to categorize whether or where to promote your videos and since they then promoting your long video to shorts users most of them won’t click the video.
I have to agree with Jen - I don't like shorts either. I made a short everyday for 8 months a couple of years ago, and it didn't do anything for the overall health of my channel. In fact, I think these really, really hurt my channel. And even with the "click to view" the longer video, I just think that the "shorts" audience thinks they're getting everything they need in that short content format. And no, I don't watch shorts myself. Thanks for the great content. All the best, Cheers Rick
I know some people hate shorts, but with out them many small creators like myself might have given up a long time ago because we wouldn't have the benifits that shorts provide. Great vid!
I achieved 545 subscribers and aiming for 1000 by end of the year. Ive been thinking of using my long form media for shorts as i think its worth reusing content especially as I have so much
I posted my first video a year and a half ago. I have 4.4 million views and over 33,000 subscribers. While I do not like shorts, I knew I needed to use it as a tool to draw attention to my channel.
Something that changed our view on shorts recently was the availability of AI tools to quickly cut our long form video into shorts. Prior to that we didn't see the value of taking time away from long form production to create shorts. This however is a bit of a game changer. We can now feed our long form into something like Opus Clip and in a mater of minutes have multiple shorts that we can upload. How this will effect our views and subs it yet to be seen as we have just started pushing more shorts. But this at least gives us a way to do it with a drastically decreased time commitment.
95% of my 250 or so shorts are remixes of my long vids to promote the full videos. Two problems I’ve found: 1. UA-cam lets you add a link to the related video BUT the link doesn’t appear on all screens on the short video. So I have to put the link in the description. It makes no sense that that link isn’t obvious on all shorts on all screens. And 2. The bigger problem is that shorts viewers - even when the captions in the video say it’s an excerpt to a long video - most of them just don’t understand that the short is basically 1 small tip from a complete video. And they don’t look for the link to watch the full video. However, shorts do get views and subscribers so I plan to keep making them. It would be helpful if YT would ensure the related video link was consistently featured in an obvious place on all shorts and screens. Thanks!!
about 10 months ago i noticed a literal switch in youtubes algorithm for me. my views dropped by half. I feel like shorts is the reason. they have taken away alot of long form viewers they just dont convert man. i dont even post shorts but yet just because they exist my views have been cut by like half of what they used to be. any body else in the same boat?
@mzgasmr823 - My views and watch time this year have been down 30%. And I've asked some other creators, and they're seeing the same downward trend. It would seem that we're not imagining this decline. Thank you my friend. Cheers Rick
Shorts has definitely helped me as a small gaming channel. My long form videos don’t really do well at the moment so I link them with shorts which gives a few extra views. My latest short (Cyclone of Chaos) got 2k views which is 4x higher than usual and I’m not sure why but I’m not complaining. It felt like forever to reach 50 subscribers but eventually got it earlier this week. Thank you all for watching and subscribing. Road to 100 here we go!
Shorts is a double edged sword and now has become synonymous with video streaming. So far it has served my channel best (I still h4te shorts...) but it has been a savings grace for my channel as subscribers are far higher from shorts than long form, currently. I am now using shorts as cliff note segments of my long form videos.
This question is one for the ages. As a guy who makes shorts I personally don't like them! However I have a few that just keep getting views so I must know what I am doing to some degree. Horizontal will always be my preferred orientation.
@@WizzieWrld Minecraft shorts have a big audience, you will get subs fast however if you try and convert to long or livestreams you will have a hard time. There is no one best solution as such make what you want! Good luck.
I don't buy for a second that short viewers also watch long form content. I see way too many channels that just push out shorts get some to go viral getting a bunch of subscribers but can't break a thousand views on a long form video. Seriously I've seen people with 50K or 100K plus subs that get sub 1K on long form. Their subs don't care and their vids aren't good to begin with. Shorts are trash and I wish they would go away. Plus the algorithm does weird things with pushing them that dictate their success way more so then the quality of the short does IMO. My last short yt waited 12 hours before trying push impressions on a short which at that time was the middle of the night. What a surprise it did poor.
I personally have been using this idea for 2 years. Even since before shorts were a thing I used this idea with a shorter long video and I can say that I have one video that equates to 1/5 of my subscribers (currently) and absolutely mind blowing. Although these don't pay well, for a small channel it has helped me get subscribers while allowing the other long videos to gain traction as well. Over time it is helping me. I feel that more longer videos are smarter for me at this point. Also I have been working 80+ hours a week on the clock so after doing personal stuff it is hard to balance everything. So with that being said when weeks are long and tough it is good to be able to put out 1 - 2 - or 3 shorts a week that are quick to make. That keeps the viewers engaged while still keeping progress.
I am doing both long videos and shorts. My hope was and what has happened is telling. A large parentage of subs came from Shorts. I can't imagine where I would be without Shorts. Until I master long form - attracting viewers- I will continue this path. Looking forward to 3 minute shorts. Of course none of my success would happen with out the vidIQ tools I have been using since day one.
Well, for me, shorts are a part of my longform strategy. When I post a longform video two days later, I post a short video that links to the long form. And in the short, I mentioned the long form video and asked people to click on the link to watch the long form video. i’ve only had a channel for about six weeks but every time I do this, I pick up anywhere between 10 and 25 new subscribers.
From own experience, it is worth it, and you do not even need to do any extra work (there are software(s) out there, that can do this for you) - iff my videos are going through it reaches much more views on the shorts than on the long form videos. Therefore, I am doing both, and I got a few new subscribers already through the shorts. And at the beginning every subscriber counts, watchtime will come later . you need to be heard and the algorithm will most likely not helping you that much - so shorts is the way to go - and you can also capture certain key moments as well (e.g. my latest short about the Pharao Djer is capturing a specific detail) - shorts can be useful, for quick information, while also serving as a kind of 'trailer' so to speak. Edit: I have seen a few people over the time, who are complaining about 'shorts are being harmful to their channel' while others say the exact opposite - when looking at their channel, I could clearly see, that all the complains came from 'bigger channels' (already past 1k subscriber or at least very close to it) and the people who said it was helpful, mostly had less than 300 subscribers - makes me wonder if there is something more to it ^^
What I've found success with is making a short out of a short scene I cut from the full video and use that to promote the video at the same time it comes out. That means your channel remains exclusively unrepeated content. I've unsubscribed from channels before just for clogging my feed with copies of things I'd already watched, so in my opinion it's good to keep everything unique and interesting. Another IMPORTANT thing! If your short gets the person watching to leave with a question without them thinking you did that on purpose, that is fantastic. It's basically like the non-evil form of engagement bait: making someone want to engage instead of tricking them into it. If you make a short of a relatively unknown game, for example, and do something fun and interesting enough with it, people will think "what game is this?" I have a channel that barely does shorts, but one short that inspired this question on it gets almost as many views a day as new videos do two years later, and has led to almost a fifth of its subscribers
Use shorts to get more initial views in shorter times and respond to comments. Use the new views and subs to showcase Livestreams and regular uploads. UA-cam has alot of ways to grow use them all and be consistent
I just posted both 1st upload long form videos and then made a short video (use the same long video) but use option related videos. As a result, views for Shorts are normally high however long videos still have good views.
My channel is just over 4 weeks old with 346 subscribers, I began with daily shorts to get some content on the channel and then started creating high quality long form videos. In the third week I stopped the daily shorts as they were starting to cause burn out, but then my steady subscriber count and channel traffic disappeared instantly! So I'm starting shorts again but this time they are all to promote the long form videos, let see how that goes!
I get maybe 2 or 3 longform views from my shorts that get 600-1k views. So not much of a conversion. But as a small channel trying to grow it's good practice and I am seeing 10 or more subs from each short. I have experimented with different topics and styles and have narrowed down what my shorts audience seems to like in my niche. I've had 3 of those videos get me over 100 new subs each. I also think it has helped the algorithm get closer to understanding my audience. Maybe someday I'll get that 4k watch hours on long forms to actually get monetized
I use both long and short form videos. I usually use shorts to promote my long form video episodes via the "related video" option. I believe it works to draw people to my long form videos. I'm at 308 awesome subs 😎! Thank you to each of you! I'm a Terraria content creator 😃
@rtyetgaming Wow thanks so much my dear 😊 friend I really appreciate it and I also watch some of your videos from your channel I must say I love it please keep it up we are all in this together we will definitely get to the very top
Haha, funny you mention that. I started to this month. Early days yet but I’m getting one or two long form views from shorts when I link a related long form video. Not much but every bit counts. As some one else here mentions shorts have a very short life, punt not intended 😃 hope that changes as this strategy seems very useful.
I do watch both your shorts and longs. I think they work together, if it’s the same content. Honestly, sometimes I don’t want to watch yall talk for 20 minutes. Please don’t be offended by that. I am a busy man! Lol. If you can say the same thing in 20 seconds, I’d rather see that. However if it’s something I really want to learn. I’ll watch 20 minutes. Such as this topic. This needs to be elaborated. My channel is starting to explode thanks to shorts. I average 50 subscribers a day now. My longs are now getting more views too! I created a channel with just longs and it did horrible.
Always enjoy this topic. I do both Shorts and longform but mostly focus on longform while throwing in Shorts as a filler. Or I'll remix a successful longform into a Short to sort of ride the wave on the topic.
I do! And use both, and like both. Ive seen no downside to doing either. I like shorts as they are easier to create and are fun. Its more like make stuff to test the audience and not worry so much if one doesn’t perform well. Lots of trial and error.
I do mainly shorts but I try long form now and again but can’t seem to get the hang of it 😂 it’s all good though because I’ll just keep trying! Don’t let anything get you down folks! ❤
I understand the “nobody / everybody watches” chart as “Users who watch your channel in any way, in general watch the long/short format, but not particularly from you.”
I plan to start upload long form videos from 1st December (daily vlogs from Bangkok) but now im making shorts to gain some subscribers - 175 now and I Think it’s nice amount💪
For my small gaming channel, so far, roughly 3-10% of my shorts viewers go directly to my linked long form video and their average watch time is significantly longer than the average of viewers from browse / home page recommendations. I think the watch time difference is mainly because they're already more likely to enjoy the content compared to people who have only seen a thumbnail/title. This is one the few useful metrics for my channel right now because I don't have enough content for a lot of analytics to be accurate or actionable.
@@Scorchingtiger12 On desktop, when you first upload the short, the second tab (video elements tab) will have an option called "add related video". If it's a short that you've already uploaded, go to details and "related video" be on the right side, under "visibility". Not sure where to do it on mobile, cause I only use YT studio in desktop. I also link it in the description, but idk if that helps.
As a viewer, I watch both pretty much equally. As a creator, i make both as well. Usually I'll make a short from each long form. I figure if I ike both, Ill make both and cover all preferences.
Shorts are helpful for me. If I’m having an issue with my longer video, I can put up a short (funny or cute) to keep the views coming while I sort things out.
To be fair, I watch both your long and your short forms. But I typically do not search for shorts. So I actively look for long form on your channel. When I Happen to watch shorts, I do watch yours when I come across them.
Hi guys in the beginning i did shorts but my goal is to create long form content i know in the long run its the best way and it fits the best for me. Im thankfull for this channel it helped me alot. Thanks from a beginner 😊
People need to understand that shorts are able to get more views in a small time span with little input from the watcher, but are shorts quality views? A long form video is 10 minutes vs a 15 second short. What is the 30 second fall off between the two video formats...? Hard to see that with 15 seconds. In that same time span aka 10 minutes. 1 person can watch 40 fifteen second shorts. I look at my short count and dived it by 40 to get what would be a true viewer count. I get 400 views on a short I call that 100 views for a long form. I get 250 views on a long form, I look at that long form being more valuable than those 400 views from a 15 second short. I also look at time watched, do my shorts add up to more time watched in total vs my long form videos? No they do not. In a minute to minute compassions, My long form videos have more time watched than my shorts with more views.
ive tried this, and was able to get over 70,000 views on my 3 long form a video on my channel. BUT, I need to say that the video was 1.On a game that released recently 2.A video that no one else made 3.Was being searched by that community (#3 I was only aware of days after posting said video). i think long form to shorts can help if it's something people are extremely interested in or being searched heavily. But, at the end of the day if people dont want to watch they wont. It's not the algorithm its how you approach being "Viral". if you change the (TRYING TO GO VIRAL) with (WILL PEOPLE LOVE TO WATCH THIS?) I think more creators would have more success.
I will say, as a youtube viewer, I do on occasion watch long-form content that it is sampled by shorts. Seeing a funny clip from a gaming video is great. BUT 1) I only do that when the video is good on it's own 2) I can't stand LOOONG shorts. It's an annoying intrusion on my algorithm of rapid fire dopamine.
I probably watch 80% long form vids, 20% shorts. However the shorts I watch aren't usually for the channels I'm subscribed to. They're just random shorts that catch my eye.
I am not a big fan of shorts, however the first milestone that I am aiming to reach is 100 subscribers. So far getting subscribers and views has been a challenge, so I recently started trying the strategy of creating shorts related to my longform videos, with the hope that the viewer will eventually watch the longform video and subscribe. I'll see how it goes.
Same as your wife! I watch UA-cam on my tv while I watch shorts on TikTok haha! I’m like girl quit watching other people’s content and make your own 😂 I have everything to set my channel up and I’m so nervous I will fail! Funny thing I was serially wondering should I use shorts to push long form when I do start then the universe sent me this video! Right hand to the sky! ❤🎉
matters what kind of channel, shorts isn't much money, me personally i don't do UA-cam for money I do it to save the youth so what i am saying there is a lot of factors to consider
You just might be an armature.... I'm a recent subscriber. I love your content, and I learn so much from you. I only referenced armature because you did, in my opinion you're a well-qualified video creator. Thank you for all that you do, it's improved how I'm working at my channel. I know for sure you help many. I've started using short from your advice.
3:53 Formats Your Viewers Watch. My chart looks exactly the same as that... But the kicker is I do not do live. so how do I have 4 bars for live when I do not do live video.... Placebo?????
I've been experimenting with this, and while I get a few views on my long form videos from this strategy, it mostly isn't working. It seems Shorts viewers want to watch mostly shorts.
I know most people watching this video are video/UA-cam centric, but here is a different perspective. I produce podcasts with a focus on audio platforms and the content we put on UA-cam is just an extension of that. We started posting on UA-cam because it has a large podcast audience. We began making shorts part of our process about 6 months ago, and what we noticed was that if a short did well, we might get a few new subscribers and a little movement on a video, but we would see a much greater impact on our audio platforms. We can definitely correlate a short-form content piece doing well to a boost in audio downloads. Additionally, on UA-cam that small bump we get may not sustain over time, where as with the audio boost, we'll see it sustain for long periods of time if not permanently. At this point the only reason we even post full episodes to UA-cam is because we're taking the time out to edit the video so they make nice shorts anyway. The short-form content is more valuable to us than the long form. Even when you're monetized on UA-cam in most cases, from a CPM (straight monetary) perspective, a podcast listener is more valuable than a viewer on UA-cam.
Just started my channel recently and I feel like shorts have brought in a reasonable amount of traffic.since I use clippings from my long form ,it creates a cliff hanger in the end which creates mystery and intrigue.
If there’s a long form video that can be squeezed in a short to capture key details; it can really help generate traffic for the channel, obviously because of the content being liked by the viewer. And then the viewer can watch the full video. I’ve been doing it fairly regularly of late and has caught some good number of subscribers. However, this may not be generally applicable for every channel.
This is exactly what I am trying to use Shorts to promote long form videos. I myself watch 99% long form, but noticed when I post a 1 minute short when filming at an event linked to the long form video that it sees a small rise in views. Coincidence? Frustratingly the link can only be to a live video not an upcoming. Oh yes I watch your shorts more than most when I click on your channel to see if I missed any new long form and see Rob has posted one.
I heard that shorts can lead into more growth for a UA-cam channel. However, not really towards your long format content because they don’t switch over like that. As a small UA-cam channel, I think starting out it wouldn’t hurt to use both because it helps you get out there more.
I make makeup videos in spanish and have 112 subscribers. I made various really short shorts from one video and that long form video has a lot of views... I still don't know if those views are because of the topic of the video or came from shorts 😅
Very interesting. Being so new at jumping full-force into my channel, I’m using shorts just to up my overall watch time and hopefully convert people to my main video via the ‘related video’ link. I’ve seen more overall views to the main vid, so hoping my strategy keeps up momentum!
This is exactly what I did when I first started youtube and it honestly didn't work for me. Maybe its because my content is true crime? I'm still at only 40 subs lol but I just focused on long form videos now. Shorts was just a waste of time for me
Another awesome video from Vidiq. Yes I agree that shorts on UA-cam aren't good because it seems to be hurting my channel because most of the subscribers who subscribe after watching the shorts I find aren't loyal subscribers because they are more likely to unsubscribe but those who watch the long form videos are more likely to stay subscribed (unfortunately they are not watching the videos until the end which means I am struggling to increase my watch time which means I will struggle to get montenised). I appreciate my viewers & subscribers but it seems to be one-sided because if they appreciated me they would watch my videos until the end.
I run multiple channels and made this one less than two weeks ago and I’m torn on whether or not to use shorts for more exposure 😢. Best of luck to all of you on your UA-cam journey.
I have dense educational content about a game. I've been taking 1-2 hours each video to re-edit the best segments into shorts. It's been pretty low effort, and has been bringing in about 20% of my subs since i've started it.
Hey everyone, we just started. Hope it's not too late, thought about it for 10 years actually 😅. Felt a lot of love from this channel and comments; really helped ❤ Wishing everyone success 🙏😎
There is likely more of an overlap in the audience. I only watch shorts if they are delivered to me at times that my attention span is SHORT. I do prefer and watch much more long form
I get more subscribers with shorts than I do my regular videos and I get waaaaaaaay more views. I don't know how to edit good and I'm using a cell phone. It must be nice to own a badass camera and know how to edit. I posted a video earlier and it's making me want to vomit due to lack of views on it. I'm literally about to give up seriously!
i am stuck with 7 sub not losing hope Ill keep posting though i created channel long back 2017 i was really busy that time ....I had some videoes back then i deleted them and started fresh with different niche ...You are doing good job sir
I try to use shorts to pick up a few subs, but I enjoy my long videos better. At 59 subs and hoping to get to 100 by the end of the year. Let's keep pushing!
I would probably watch Shorts more if I got desktop notifications about them from my favorite kreators. I also know that my episode previews that I put out as Shorts are not getting notifications sent out the same way that my regular videos do. If you select ALL notifications, it shouldn't matter whether it's a video or a short. Maybe give different notification option settings?
Don't fully relay on shorts as it is good for getting subs and views on your channel but you don't get watchtime for monitization so try making long form videos and try to promote them in shorts so they can go through it and you can also get watchtime
I'm pretty mixed when it comes to shorts, I barely watch shorts anyways. I will say though the shorts I have uploaded have gotten way more views than my average long form videos would get. I honestly think using other social media apps such as TikTok or even Instagram reels to publish short form content is much better imo. That's just my opinion personally but I am curious what other people think of this.
Im at 446 right now no Metter what never give up. Im trying my best u can do it too.. Wish you all the new content creators best of luck. we can do it...
I’ve been trying to convert short views into longer views. Making shorts for my long form videos makes sense to me. Not sure if it converts tho so focus on doing YOU
I have definitely tried uploading remixes of my long for gaming content. While I do get more views than I would on my full video, I feel like I rarely get them from the short to the video itself. If someone reads this some pointers would be very useful!
At 189 subs I’m currently playing around with this as well. Im doing my best to showcase my long form structure in hopes of not misleading Shorts viewers into what my main content is like. But my “long form” lessons are still only around 6 mins so fingers crossed there’s some overlap 😅
I personally don't see shorts doing much for me. My most successful short had a long form conversion rate of @2%. Of the 11k that watched the short only about 60 watched the long form video. That's just my experience, maybe different for you
From my experience, shorts get more views initially but then die out while long form is “ever green” and continues to gain views overtime.
Facts and new sub here just to show support
@ thank you 🙏
I don't know if this is a niche thing or not, because my short videos (music channel) got way fewer views than my usual videos. And because I spent more time making them than the normal videos (because of the captions), I stopped making them. I don't know if I was right or not in that decision, or if I needed to wait a bit more time
@homestudioacademy no problem
Agreed. I get good view on the first 1-2 days but the they die….
That’s great, do you put your tags in the title or tag section?
It looks like this kind of strategy works for comedy story channel(?) I've seen something like this in IamMobo channel. His long (compilation) and short videos are doing pretty good. It's looks like many people who watch comedy want to get laughs without swiping another video (just my own analytics tho, cmiiw)

I'll keep believing that 😊
You got this! Keep growing!

Hi everyone can someone give me some tips for my channel i am is stuck in 49😢
I create both types of content because shorts get me subscribers, and long videos get me watch time. I think this approach is necessary for new channels that want to get monetized faster.
I am doing post long and short . But I my view from short drop down recently . I’m really confused about that.

@TheSamEffect7 Thanks! I appreciate it.

As a full time creator I have now seen my long form videos get less views than my shorts and also shorts being in less ad revenue adding up to me getting less ad revenue over all. I’m not a fan of shorts at all and I feel like they’re hurting my channel.
I have seen that on my videos too there is drop in views.
I started a separate shorts channel for clips and whatnot, hoping to keep shorts subscribers away from the growth of my main channel. Is this a good idea?
Yes affecting my channels too
I feel like you tube categorize your number of impressions in function of whether or not you do shorts if that makes sense. maybe I’m wrong, but I feel once I upload a long form video after a long streak of doing shorts I get barely any impression and then barely no impression afterward in shorts too.
We can now feed our long form into something like Opus Clip and in a mater of minutes have multiple shorts that we can upload. How this will effect our views and subs it yet to be seen as we have just started pushing more shorts. But this at least gives us a way to do it with a drastically decreased time commitment.
I don't love shorts. But I just started trying them out to promote long forms.
Can't wait for them to actually freaking work!

@@Jotham-Onoboke Thanks, friend. Back at you.
Thanks!!
I’m that odd person that looks for the link to watch the full video lol
about 10 months ago i noticed a literal switch in youtubes algorithm for me. my views dropped by half. I feel like shorts is the reason. they have taken away alot of long form viewers they just dont convert man. i dont even post shorts but yet just because they exist my views have been cut by like half of what they used to be. any body else in the same boat?
Same. I need to look, but March of 2023? Is when everything changed
@mzgasmr823 - My views and watch time this year have been down 30%. And I've asked some other creators, and they're seeing the same downward trend. It would seem that we're not imagining this decline. Thank you my friend. Cheers Rick
100% I know a lot of people that this has happened to in the last 6 months
How often do you post shorts etc
This question is one for the ages. As a guy who makes shorts I personally don't like them! However I have a few that just keep getting views so I must know what I am doing to some degree. Horizontal will always be my preferred orientation.
@@WizzieWrld Minecraft shorts have a big audience, you will get subs fast however if you try and convert to long or livestreams you will have a hard time. There is no one best solution as such make what you want! Good luck.
@@WizzieWrld To grow but not to convert people to long form content, which is better for monetization. At least in my opinion
@ and thanks, my friend. I really appreciate that. If you ain’t dead, you ain’t done. 👍
“And more” is my favorite person in this video

0:50 I DON’T LIKE SHORTS EITHER 😢😢😢
Don't use Shorts if you want to grow with long form. It will end up hurting your channel than helping.

How do you incorporate the link to the full vid on the short?
@@Scorchingtiger12 On desktop, when you first upload the short, the second tab (video elements tab) will have an option called "add related video". If it's a short that you've already uploaded, go to details and "related video" be on the right side, under "visibility". Not sure where to do it on mobile, cause I only use YT studio in desktop. I also link it in the description, but idk if that helps.
@ ah okay thanks!!!

As a viewer, I watch both pretty much equally. As a creator, i make both as well. Usually I'll make a short from each long form. I figure if I ike both, Ill make both and cover all preferences.
My long videos are not doing well as shorts .

On my chart, 4% of my viewers are Watching both Shorts and long form. I see no cross over.

BUT
1) I only do that when the video is good on it's own
2) I can't stand LOOONG shorts.

I stick to posting short form on fb. And hopefully bring viewers to my long format

I would say yes! Yes is does, because its free traffic for the longer vids.

There is likely more of an overlap in the audience. I only watch shorts if they are delivered to me at times that my attention span is SHORT. I do prefer and watch much more long form
I use Shorts to promote long form all the time and it works to some extent.
