    I just brought my new puppy home from a 700km trip. I asked the breeder to put in a blanket in the litter a day or so before I picked the dog up, just like Will did. The puppy also slept most of the way with the blanket and once we got home I put the blanket in his crate and he went into the crate 1st time, no worries. He now goes to lie in his crate by himself without me asking or directing him. I credit this to Will's blanket hack, it really works...thanks Will.

    I've had a gsd. The absolute BEST, most loyal dogs ever. Someone poisoned him. I have had several mastiffs, great dogs, good personalities, but medical issues. I now have a corso with epilepsy. Like you, I will be avoiding mastiffs from now on. Hurts my heart, but I'm 65 and another gsd will probably be my last dog. I'll be searching for a puppy as soon as I retire because I'd like to be home with it to train it.

      GSD are great dogs. But If your interested in a very intelligent and endlessly loyal breed that are generally very healthy with long lives, consider the Australian Cattle Dog.

      @@missscarlet9054 that’s true, my main worry is the genetic need to herd. It’s and to but I haven’t seen anyone own an ACD without a ranch, space to run and cattle. They’re high drive and job oriented whereas German Shepherds are more owner oriented.

      @ArtieBoi3000 They are huge in agility and canicross. I own one in a suburb (fenced on back yard on about .3 acres) and we exercise. A lot. We walk every day, trailrun in good weather, and do agility 3 times a week. But really, they are NEVER physically tired. But you will probably never meet a dog so eager to learn and train. And that's the breed secret, exhaust their brain, and you have a calm dog. I've raised an Ameerican Eskimo with the same method.
      And PS, I move a lot, but I'm far from an athlete. I've lost over 100 pounds, and Nelson (my ACD) is my lifelong exercise partner and gym bro.

    I've always had a dog, and only once have I had trouble, but after that experience I want to know EVERYTHING about making this new puppy transition as smooth as possible. I won't be getting a new puppy for a few more years, so I'm in full training mode. I really appreciate watching your videos and this series with Reggie is highly anticipated and so enjoyable. Thank you!

    I am going to bring our first puppy ever, from the breeder, in next 7-8 days. It will 300km drive, one way. I am glad, I came across your video. It validated few of things that I wanted to make sure of. Super excited for 25th, this year.

    I wish I knew about the blanket hack when we went to get our golden retriever pup 3 years ago. He was in the passenger foot well but he was so anxious he kept trying to climb up into my wife's lap and over the center console... Probably the most harrowing 45 min drive of my life 😅
    But we got him home safely and your videos helped a great deal in training and raising him into the lovely well behaved dog he is now.

    I expect you already know he is food motivated ? If he isnt i will be glued to this new journey of yours .
    My last two pups werent into food at all which made training very difficult.
    I bought your puppy course for my last pup who is 10months and it didnt help me because of this . She isnt into toys either .
    Its not as if im a novice with gsd's .

    I absolutely love him. I had a Belgian shepherd,I don’t think he was full breed but he was the most beautiful looking dog. Looked a bit like this puppy as a puppy except he a,ways had ears that stuck up. Always got comments on him, his looks, how he looked like a wolf, how good looking he was. Was always asked what type of dog is he bc he didn’t quite look like a German Shepard. One guy picked what type of Belgian shepherd he was apparently there are 4 types.

    We are buying a puppy which is 500 miles + from where we live. We are not fans of such long distance driving. So, have to consider flying or even the train. This is a big decision. Because he will be quite small I think we would be able to travel with him in a pet carrier which can stay with us on the flight, which is probably about 1 1/2 hours. Any thoughts on that scenario if you have a minute or two to respond.

    Hi, is it possible to bring a puppy into a home that has only ever had cats? We have 3 cats over the age of 5 but we've moved to the countryside and would love to have a dog as well, maybe a gsd. Certainly one that was trained to have beautiful manners and obedience that seems very possible if all this great information is followed. The cats seem terrified of adult dogs, what would you advise please? Thank you.

    • @Just_James_79
      @Just_James_79 4 місяці тому +1

      I had 5 cats when I brought my first GSD pup home, I wouldn't recommend it with an adult dog but a puppy is fine. I've always fed the cats first to show they are higher up the hierarchy but don't know if this is really necessary, a pup will be inquisitive and eventually playful with cats but they will put him in his place themselves. On my 2nd GSD now and just like the last, he sees the cats (sadly only 2 of them now) as part of his pack and will protect them with his life!

    Why put your new puppy on the grass at a service station, 100% guarantee that other dogs have been there so whats the point if the puppy hasn't had all his jabs?

    • @soul991
      @soul991 4 місяці тому +1

      Cause it needs to piss and shit??? Just cause it hasn’t had all its jabs don’t mean it’s gonna die it’s safe to do so unless you instantly start walking him every day without his jabs
