I’ve been implementing your strategies with my 12 week old puppy and he is very calm and has good manners. We’ve helped him learn to wait to eat, wait to be called in through the door, he doesn’t jump up, is crate trained. It has made puppyhood so enjoyable for everyone. Thank you!!

Because of Will we completed required training for our 15month old rescue in 1 week. We dedicated 1 hour a day to absolute training. But the training was ready consistent throughout the day. By week 2 I had our dog running hurdles and the A frame. Week 3 we included a weave, teeter, and a tunnel. Now we are working on better retrieval with a frisbee.

For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕

We are hitting the 7 month mark with our Australian Shepherd and are just now reaching the point that our James doesn't have to go out to potty at all during the night. He has always been very good about doing business and immediately laying back down when we come in, but clearly had the biologic need to relieve himself. We are quite envious of Reggie's abilities! Thank you for another very inspirational video.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I'm getting a puppy soon, a siberian husky, and seeing another energetic and working dog respond this well to your training is very comforting, definitely signing up to your free course thank you so much! :) people are constantly telling me it's impossible to train a siberian husky, but i don't belive that, harder maybe, but not impossible!

Hi, This is great. I have a German Shepherd dog, 1 year old and good to see one being trained at a different level. Also, if it does help, I have been feeding the different dog foods, my dog was sensitive to a number of dog foods and it has now been fixed.

I got my dog a little over a year ago, when he was 8 weeks old. I watched SO many videos and thought I was doing everything right. My dog, Trumpet, is brilliant and picked up everything very quickly. Now, at 14 months old, he's a bit crazy!😜 I've had many dogs(a poodle, wolf hybrid , a pitbull and 3 border Collie/heeler mixes) and owned a dog sitting business for 9 years and I've never met a dog like Trumpet! He's a border Collie/ heeler/catahoula/pointer and is VERY stubborn. Full of love but bit me(my hand swelled up like a softball) when I tried to take a sock away from him. Most of the time he doesn't care if i take something from him but occasionally he snaps and theres no predicting it. Mostly, it's if he gets a tissue or paper towel. He won't even give it up for food. I've yet to find a video that helps with his particular issues. Any ideas?

We brought home our new puppies on the exact same day as you! Gonna be following along with you and see if I can keep up.
Things haven’t exactly gone to plan in that my partner and I got a puppy each, he was going to train one and I was going to train the other, then my partner got offered a new job the day after we got them home so he is out from 10am until 10pm, 5 days a week. So I’m essentially raising them both 😅 I am exhausted!
Crate training isn’t perfect but getting there and unfortunately they didn’t have their vaccines yet when we got them so I’m limited on toilet training for now but obedience and lead training is going well.
Would be great to see a video about puppies fighting too roughly as that’s something I’m struggling with.

My gsd has never been toilet trained. She naturally cried ,from the minute I got her, to go out to toilet. She's been great from the get go,also the puppy biting was easily sorted. The main thing I'm getting at the moment is problems with jumping up ,but this is only when she is let back in from the garden. Recall is getting good, but it's still a work in progress . She is doing OK, but training is ongoing

Loving all your videos. Has helped me massively with training our new 8 week old Dachshund. Would you recommend when training night to routine to not feed. Our sleep schedule at the moment is crate at 9.30/10pm sleep until about 1/1.30am toilet opportunity sleep until 5am when he wakes at 5am he seem to be hungry so I am using that as a training opportunity. Is this a wise idea to feed that early? Would love a Q&A video about night to routine. Thanks your videos are amazing

Bit of a question about the concept of the mat and structured free time. My family has two older dogs. They are energetic and kind dogs already, but they require training in socialization (Lots of excited jumping up on guests) and engaging with us as leaders. I was just curious about how mandatory you view structured free time and especially the mat where the dog is supposed to stay during family time. I understand its use in keeping the dog from making a mess of the house, but we love having the dogs up on the couch with us and having them close. Why is having a place for the dog to stay during free time important? Thanks for the videos, I've been watching a lot of them and have found them interesting.

Will, I am perhaps remiss in not digging deeper into your videos to answer the following question; But how precisely do you determine which puppy in a litter is most suitable for you? What is your method and what are your metrics for determining which will become the next “Perfect Puppy?” In addition, if there is not an obvious candidate in a litter, should one walk away?

We picked up our show cocker spaniel puppy a week ago. We’re getting on really well with some aspects of training - she knows her name, goes to the toilet in the garden, sleeps through the night and knows the sit command (nearly there with stay and down), but she will not settle unless she’s in her crate with the door shut. We have started place training on her bed out of the crate but even then she only settles for a minute max and then tries to chew her bed. Do you have any advice for getting her to settle in the crate with the door open or on her bed?

I literally picked up my jack russell puppy 2 days ago. ooooooooh my word, you lot make it look easy!
Some bits ive found easy, some are hard. Im hoping i can get more on top of manners and im hoping i can convince her to go in her crate of her own free will (shes fantastic in it, she doesnt cry or anything)
The only thing im struggling with is that i take her out for toilet and after a (sometimes fair bit) bit of hassle she goes but sometimes when i bring her back in she starts acting out maybe a few minutes and doing what i presume is kind of anxiety weeing. its only like a drop or two and ive started to catch her before she does it coz ive learn her signs but im just not sure what to do to nip that in the bud
i take her out longer outside but she starts basically backflipping on the lead trying to get at stuff, she doesnt listen to the active interruption either which is annoying (for biting etc i get up and ignore her and she stops then i reward her after shes calmed down
but yeah, sorry for the long rant, first time puppy owner and its tricky!

I think potty training is good and a little training but allowing him tobe a puppy and his natural personality and confidence to burden first and enjoy the overbearing puppyness before this full on training to be the perfect dog, like we are perfect humans! I think hard training maybe start when they are a few months probably four months old. I’m imagine leaving it to this period won’t give you a different less disciplined dog than those trained earlier but you’d enjoy the puppy wanting to be all over you with their cuteness longer. I’d like that.😊

    • @lisathewhitewolf
      @lisathewhitewolf 3 місяці тому +1

@@11kwright You're assuming by training the dog is punished. This shouldn't happen, unless absolutely necessary, until MUCH later in the process. What you want to do is start early in a fun, enjoyable way, so they learn what to do instead of a bunch of shit you have to get them to unlearn later (which is extremely difficult in a lot of cases without aversives.) They'll grow up more confident if they at least understand your communication system and have some idea of what you want from them. If you stick with positive reinforcement (like treats) whenever possible, it improves your relationship. Bare minimum, teach them your markers, how to lure (unless you are using shaping,) and that they get their attention with four on the floor so you're not creating a jumping habit. Along with your aforementioned potty training. But none of this needs to be forceful or keep the puppy from "being a puppy" and enjoying life. These sessions are meant to be short and enjoyable for the puppy.
