I’m originally a cigar smoker. I prefer heavier cigars with Oliva being my favorite cigars. I started smoking pipes about two year ago and got caught up in pipe collecting. I found it funny because I like lighter pipe tobacco compared to cigars. Presbyterian being my favorite type of tobacco. I just recently picked up this reformation in a whim and I am not an aromatic smoker. This tobacco is amazing and the lingering smell in my garage a day later is amazing.
Thanks for the timely review! I been waiting on a trusted review before purchasing this new blend.
Glad it was helpful!
Just finished that book a couple weeks ago! Fantastic introduction to the Protestant Reformation
Presbyterian Has to be one of my top three blends I love it!!
Hey Wilson.
Thanks for this review. It's sounds very tastefully.
Greetings from the Country of Reformation!😉
Thank you Peter!
Enjoying this blend for the first time along with you in a campsite with first cup of coffee. Very nice. This may be a new go to for me.
Very interesting original mixture is one of my favorites 👍
This is one of my favorites❤
I just picked up my first tin and freaking love this aroma. I love the original Presbyterian.
Thank for the review. I’ll definitely consider this. I’m really into English blends and yet I’ve never tried the original Presbytery blend. I’ll check out that book too… Have a great day.
Thank you! Have a great day as well!
Interesting how this wasn't really advertised as a big release. I believe you are the absolute first reviewer of it. Hope you are well. Thanks for the heads up!!
You bet! Ya I didnt see much advertisement on it either. It may be because it's not a limited-edition/small batch blend? Idk.
Greetings from Texarkana, Texas
Glad to hear from a fellow Texan
Thanks Wilson! This blend intrigues me now!
You bet!
Thanks brother 🙏🙏♥️
Always welcome!
You should try Dreams of Kadath, Virginia Burley orientals and perique in plug form.
I really appreciate your videos and I enjoyed the tobacco surprised but very satisfied
Love the review! Got some that I’m excited to crack open here soon
Just got my tin today. Haven't smoked it yet, but the tin note is amazing in my opinion. I could seriously use it as aromatherapy on stressful days.
It does carry a nice aroma!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this new mixture. I enjoy the original, have many tins in my cellar. Hadn’t given this new one much attention, but after your review I think I’ll give it a try!
You bet Todd!
My wife read the Unquenchable Flame. She really liked it. And I look forward to checking that blend out ;)
It's really a great book. Easy to follow along.
Thanks for the thoughtful review. As an old timer in the pipe game I was a bit put off by the surprising nature of the Presbyterian Reformtion, assuming the reformation, like Martin Luther's theological stance would be a variation on the original rather than a major departure from the original scriptures. So I have been putting off trying this one as I am pretty much a died in the wool English Mixture and Virginia flake smoker but you have enticed me into trying this one so I will have a go at it tonight after dinner. Keep puffin.
I can’t wait to get a few tins of this. I have gravitated to Burley blends over the last few years. As a Reformed Presbyterian I would have probable picked up a tin regardless of what it was, I’ll probably pick up several at once to put in my rotation. Thanks for the review!
Their marketing worked I suppose!
I enjoy and appreciate your reviews. And I believe I need to try this blend.
Thanks man!
Great review! I love the regular Presbyterian. - Subscribed.
Thanks man
Sounds like a very enjoyable smoke! Definitely going on my to get list!
I bought it on a spur and I’m not an aromatic smoker. I love this stuff.
I've been leaning more towards burleys myself Wilson, definitely will have to give this a go. Thank you!
Let me know what you think of it if you do!
Thank you for the review. I love Aeromatic blend’s. I want to expand my flavor profile .. I will definitely give this try.
My pleasure!
High Wilson. Original presbyterian is one of my favorite light english. Is this at all reminiscent of the original in your mind?
I get a almost blackberry flavor for that fruity note. I bought 8 tins of this.
Nice. Thanks for the scoop😊
You bet man!
Not much of an Aro smoker but very intrigued 🤔. Thanks Wilson!
You bet brother!
It’s a nice blend. I had a bowl earlier. For me the orientals and Virginias were more pronounced and then the other third of the bowl the burley was more pronounced. I agree the topping accentuates the tobacco throughout the bowl.
Good notes!
I'm an Aromatic smoker, but I accidentally ordered this thinking it was the original. Very glad for that mistake, because this stuff is outstanding. Ordered two more tins already.
What would be a good blend to try if you really like this, but want to add some real Englishes to the rotation?
I would give the original Presbyterian a go. Also Shepherd's Pie by the Country Squire
I think you should give C&D Bow legged bear a try. You may enjoy it!
On my try list!
Hiyas Wilson, a thoughtful review, well done. I too feel that Presbyterian is a light English; I prefer Rattray's Accountants Mixture for that style of a light English. Reformation sounds interesting and worth looking into.
Peace & Serene smokes,
Gary
Thanks Gary. Accountants is one I haven't tried.
@@TheSpurgeonPiper It was my very first non OTC tobacco. 50 years on, I still enjoy it.
@@oldandintheway1955 wow!
Like some others I would have bought this on name alone. I’m wondering though, based on what you are getting off of the initial notes, if a year of cellaring would elevate it a bit.
Very possibly. I have a tin stored away to find that out.
I want someone to develop the Summa Theologia release. Lol.
Great video! I hadn't heard of this one yet, it had escaped my radar, but it's on my radar now. Sounds like something I would like. I lean towards aromatics, but like to be able to taste the natural flavors as well. Sounds like this one checks off my boxes. I would imagine that it smokes pretty cool due to the Burley, correct? Thanks for the video.
My pleasure! Compared to other aromatics, yes it does smoke fairly cool.
Not too big a fan of the original Presbyterian. It's too sweet tasting for me and has a little bite. I love the tin art though.
Stunned to know there is such a thing as Presbyterian Reformation, when I am Presbyterian and the actual Reformation means so much to me!
I got a tin of Eileen’s dream because of the good reviews. It was like smoking a chocolate truffle. I wasn’t into it. So when you said presbyterian reformation has hint of Coco makes me a bit apprehensive.
That may be the case. Though from my memory of Eileen's Dream, this provides more natural tobacco flavor.
Enjoyable review.
English gentleman: “gently load the bowl.”
Texan: “shove it in there.”
Audio feedback: your intro is quite louder than your video review. Makes for an unpleasant shock if I let play your next video.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll see what I can do about the intro volume
I’m new but is there a company that offers a little sampler of 3 or 4 of its different blends?
Not that I'm aware of unfortunately, unless you go to a brick and mortar shop that blends its own
Where'd you get that coffee mug?
The leather bound one? Missionalwear.com
I have always wanted to try the original and now looks like I have another one too add to the list. But as a Catholic maybe I should pass it by ha ha. Just kidding. I love your reviews and trust them, look forward to them keep it up
Lol, thanks for the kind words!
Why do you cover the bowl when you're drawing?
Stoking and manipulating the ember for a better burn
I doubt if this tobacco will be a hit among Catholic pipers...🙃
😂
